The Honeys sang back-up for The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, and recorded their own music.

The Honeys were in the right place at the right time and were prepared for that opportunity. The group was composed of sisters Diane and Marylin Rovell. Marylin later married Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys who wrote many of their songs and produced them. Brian and Marylin are the parents of Carnie and Wendy Wilson of "Wilson Phillips" fame. They were joined by their cousin Ginger Blake. In 1962 they were named "The Honeys" by The Beach Boys after the reference in the song "Surfin' Safari" where The Beach Boys sang, "Early in the morning we'll be starting out, Some honeys will be coming along." Ginger and Marylin enjoyed talking with Tom about their fun-filled careers.

Loved the Honeys and Spring. Got to Meet and sit back-stage with Marylin in 1998 during the "Beach Boys Family" concert at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, FL, during which she went out on-stage and sang with the Band and her Daughters Wendy & Carnie. Had always wanted to meet her, because of her singing and all the videos and Interviews with her over the years, she just seemed "special". And when I met her? Marylin was all of that and more! Meeting you Marylin, and talking to you about our kids (our "Wendys") was one of the highlights of my life, thank you for being as sweet and wonderful as you are.😘

Interesting about "pray for surf." Jan and Dean used it in, as I recall, "Honolulu Lulu" ("...pray for surf while makin' out in my truck.") and had a decent hit with it.
