The HOLY Grail of Flies!!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is one of my favorite variations of the holy grail fly pattern. Its makes for a great caddis patter, particularly an emerging caddis. With a bit of flash and a hot spot it attracts attention while imitating the natural insect quite well. With the partially hidden tungsten bead it sinks fast and offers a more unique profile that could help in high pressured water. Highly recommend giving it a try in this color as well as a caddis tan.

As an insect I can confirm that it looks more Insectlier than us
I used to be big into this as a teenager. My dad used to fly fish. I used to make lures for him and got very good at it. I started making him lures, then making them for his friends. I didn't even fly fish, I just made the lures according to old recipes and sold them to old white guys. It was good money some guys would pay 200-500 dollars for some tied up feathers on a hook. The rarer the feathers the more money they pay for the lures. I use to buy rare feathers off e-bay for 10-20 dollars per feather and make lures according to these old English men's recipe from 200 years ago or something long ago and sell it. One summer I went on a 3 week vacation motorbiking through the pacific northwest at age 19 with four friends. It was the trip of a lifetime. Well, we went trout fishing near Reno Nevada area and in those mountains around there. I didn't have my lures. Out of frustration or whatever I tied up a werthers original toffee wrapper as the thorax and a tightly hershey bar wrapper as the body. And basically dried out grass as the wing and tail. I cast it and caught something immediately, then again and again. Other fisherman started coming over. Then I wondered if this would work. I took the hook, and stuck a werthers original toffee wrapper over it and tied it up and cast.....i continued to pull fish in. Others caught as much fish as me, but they didn't have candy wrapper lures. That's when i realized it's all Bullshift.

@Peterblack12

@MaxMustermann-tq3lu Man, it's actually more ridiculous than you can imagine. As I said earlier, you could basically tie up a peppermint wrapper to your hook and throw it out, and catch a fish right away so the whole point of tying a lure is useless. In all honesty, it's probably only about 3 or four that I sold at a $500 price point. In order to justify those prices, the expenses have to be very close to that. For example, the feathers online, as I stated earlier, I had to buy the feathers. They will range from 20 to $30, all the way up to a hundred dollars for a single feather. I would have to buy a special colored line, a special colored, special kind of paint. Sometimes, the lures of that caliber took days to finish. This lure here in the video would be considered trash. On top of all that, one mistake and you would lose a ton of money. But these guys were millionaires buying them anyway. Roger Ailes bought some from my dad, and a friend of T Boone Pickens bought some.

What’s a fishes. I know what fish are just not fishes
First, you take the dinglepop, and you smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then repurposed for later batches. Then you take the dinglebop and push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice. Then a Shlami shows up and he rubs it, and spits on it. Then you cut the fleeb. There's several hizzards in the way. The blaffs rub against the chumbles, and the plubus and grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with the Holy Grail of Flies

As someone who extensively researched dragonflies, that doesn't really resemble a dragonfly, as they have no Tufts, a long thin body, four wings, and their head is thinner than the bead he started with. Unless your talking about a larger species of dragonfly, in which case the lure is too short to resemble a dragonfly.

imagine being a fish thinking you found the best fly of your life and you hear this guy's voice talking bout how delicious the fish tacos you'll be later as he's reeling you in
One of the key points that for me massively adds to the appeal of patterns like this. The partridge at the head as the throat hackle gives so much more movement and life. When I personally produce these type of pattern for my personal use be they with or without a bead. I always add partridge or cdc fibres as a false hackle. If turkey is in short supply you can use duck slips doubled over or pheasant tail but add a coat of resin to improve durability. Or a clear tough plastic film to protect those more delicate fibres.
That is a beautiful fly you tied there.
I took my grandpa to one of those places where the fish eat dead skin. It cost me $50, but it was a hell of a lot cheaper than a funeral.

i love fly fishing lures - all of the work and care that goes into them is incredible. one of my favourite stories of all time to tell to people is that of edwin rist - its just so unbelievably compelling, and its connection with such a beautiful art form makes it even better. this looks very nice. sorry for being so passionate about fly fishing lures i just love everything so much its unbearable
Is this why so many people go fishing? For the art? This looks like fun
