    T2 was the first film I ever saw at the cinema, at it blew my mind. Three decades on, and this legendary classic STILL beats anything today. That is absolutely mind blowing to me. Happy 30th anniversary to the mythical timeless Terminator 2.

    EPISODE NOTES: · The only other T2 paperweight that I know of is owned by my pal Robert. But he picked it up at a convention earlier in the Spring of '91, so perhaps they weren't produced exclusively for this event? · Apparently Stallone's film “Oscar” is in fact pretty good. I plan to check it out sometime. · Sorry that the lighting still isn't great, and makes my skin look super bright and pale, but at least it's a little better than the last episode. We'll continue to work on it. · Our research team uncovered several fun quotes from young B.J. Ford about his experience at the premiere, but WKVS cut them out of the episode due to the way that they were presented, as the studio felt we were “mocking” the young man. We weren't. Perhaps we'll release this footage as a Patreon bonus one day (if we ever launch a Tfor2 Patreon, that is).

  • @Tfor2show

    @Tfor2show

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ah, that's a great question! Here's the honest answer: When I filmed that first "Introduction" video, I knew I needed sort of a "sizzle reel" to really get people interested in the show... otherwise that first video would have been nothing but a guy in a robe talking about Terminator 2, haha. So that montage was all filmed in one night. I just kept changing my shirt, and futzing my hair a bit, so that it looked like it was from different days, and I would get a different item from my collection and pretend to talk about it for a minute. And then I chopped it all up and put it together, simply to give people an idea of what the show was going to be like. But to better answer your question: yes, every single one of those items from that fake "sizzle reel" will in fact be covered in future episodes of the show, no doubt about it! 😎👍🏼

It's always fun trying to decide where to pull them from. As far as where I got them... just years of collecting, really. A few of the items in this episode (the invitation and screening program) actually came together from a personal collection of stuff that I bought from one of the effects guys who worked on the film. The paperweight I bought from the second assistant editor on T2. I just sorta keep track of all the stuff I have in a big file of episode topics, and then every now-and-then I'll noticr that I've acquired enough stuff and gathered enough research and info on a particular topic that I'm ready to start scripting an episode on that topic. @@Tfor2show oddly enough, I remembered the whole movie. I remember setting jump scared at the Endoskeleton foot crushing the skull. I remember how incredibly loud that shotgun was. I remembered thinking that Arnold was the bad guy, cuz my dad of course showed me the first one the night before, and remembered how terrified I was of the Endoskeleton, and thinking Robert Patrick was the good guy. Lol. My dad didnt like to watch trailers so the twist was still a shock to us. The newly polished CGI for the T-1000, was insane, it just looked so wild, and I remember hearing people's flabbergasted gasps everytime the T-1000 did something. There were a ton of people waiting outside the cinema to see it, luckily it was in a mall so the wait was in the food court. But despite being so terrified of the first I just remember how excited my dad and I were going to see T2. Of course, my dad was a Guns N' Roses fan so we also sat through the credits to hear that first bit of "You Could Be Mine." But I also remember my dad being incredibly worried that a sequel would ruin The Terminator legacy, since of course, sequels usually don't top originals. But damn, for as young as I was, there was nothing like it, and I still remember that feeling. The only other movie that did that was Jurassic Park of course. But T2 was first and saw that first, and this all sounds like what everyone else says, but I was there. Lol

So I'm always envious of anyone who not only first saw it on the big screen, but moreso of anyone who saw it without the big twist spoiled! I always avoid trailers today for that reason - that's so cool that your dad was already doing it way back then! When the Terminator said "Get down!" your jaws must have been on the floor! Thanks again for sharing these memories, man. Good stuff! The next episode of the show is a deep-dive look at the real worls history and on-screen use of the Terminator's iconic shotgun from T2! Must have been one of those once in a lifetime experiences. I wonder if Michael Biehn got invited to the cast & crew screening. He was technically in the movie, even if he got cut out. I imagine him sitting there, getting all excited, like: "Here comes my sce-... oh." Poor guy. I still love that scene, though, and nothing's gonna change my mind 😆 When you pulled out the Hollywood premiere program, I imagined that it would be a bunch of text on a plain white background, so, yeah... I guess my expectations were pretty much on point there 😄 Seems pretty useful for making paper hats, though 😛 The prices for vintage T-shirts are usually insane. I've been wanting to get myself a vintage Moscow Music Peace Festival T-shirt for a while now, and I've never managed to find one below the $400 mark 🥴 I was kinda expecting you to hit the BUY button five seconds later, but I guess you still have some impulse control left 😆 Ice-T must have been pretty disappointed with the '0.0 Human Casualties' screen. But, hey... at least the T-1000 was still wearing his uniform when he fell into the molten steel 🤷‍♂️ Does that still count? 😄 I'm looking forward to that shotgun episode. Maybe I should have saved the Commando GIF for the occasion, but it's too late now 🙁 Oh, well, what you're gonna do... I'm sure I'll come up with something 🤓

    Wow, another insightful and delightful review! I always look forward to these. Thank you, Alice! Yeah, I love thinking about what it must have felt like to be part of the cast/crew at the screening. The air must have been vibrating with excitement and enthusiasm the whole time! And you raise a good question about Biehn... I would certainly assume he was invited! Even with his scene being cut, he still helped work on the film. My assumption is that everyone involved got invited, but who knows? That's just an assumption. That's a pretty good assumption on your part about the contents of the screening program! Very nice. Regarding the Commando GIF: I've used the John/Terminator high-five GIF probably over a hundred times this month alone, haha. So I think it's fair for you to use that one again when it feels right. 😎

    I didn’t think a video talking about a movie’s premiere would be interesting but you successfully did it. Another excellent job Tfor2! 5:05 That edited picture of Arnold with a chef hat and holding a spatula was pretty humorous. He certainly had good taste with his food choices. It all sounds so delicious. Knowing Arnold I’m sure the peach and whiskey pie meant that whiskey was one of the ingredients for it. I looked it up and that turns out to be the case. It just reminds me of what he said in Pumping Iron, _“Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.”_ Arnold has always had a sense of humor. 12:05 I got to say that Edward and Soleil both look so cute here. You probably don’t care but Soleil is pronounced like So-lay. I knew about her beforehand as she was Punky Brewster in that 80s sitcom that shares its namesake with her character. Coincidentally, Earl Boen who portrayed Dr. Silberman also appeared in a few episodes of that show as a bank worker which was surprising to see when he first showed up. I could have sworn Edward Furlong was seeing Jacqueline Domac, his on set tutor, at this time though. Perhaps that came a little later as I don’t know the specifics too much. I don’t like sounding like a gossip magazine but according to a 1991 Entertainment Weekly article Edward got his publicist to arrange a date with Soleil: _“His social life may have gone through a seismic shake-up, but there is at least one advantage to this Hollywood stuff. Furlong got his publicist to wangle a date with Soleil Moon Frye (TV’s Punky Brewster)...”_ Source: archive.vn/wDJd9#selection-2141.0-2141.205 Perhaps it was just a publicity front to cover up his true relationship but I’ve also read he went out with Soleil for three years so I don’t know at this point and I don’t feel like delving any deeper into it. As for Domac, it is disconcerting to know the age difference between them as she was 26 while Furlong was 14 when they first met. It really shows double standards as she got away with it. Then again Hollywood has always been shady with the way it treats young actors. 12:28 That really was a missed opportunity to have them all take a picture together. Especially a picture with only Michael, Linda, and Edward just to get the whole “family” together which would have also been nice to see. I started laughing so much at that montage showing all those violent movie scenes in quick succession but the part at 13:36 was the funniest since it looks like Sarah Connor is shooting at Miles Dyson with the way it was cut. 15:02 I noticed you used a Tourettes Guy sound bite here. That’s vintage internet material right there. I wonder how many other people will notice. By the way, have you seen this video of a 1991 Terminator 2 convention where they had a lot of the movie props, concept art, and storyboards on display? kzread.info/dash/bejne/gaWf1tGDgZWfhrw.html There was even a Terminator look-alike competition where Arnold appeared on stage along with appearances by James Cameron, Stan Winston, and Edward Furlong. I figured you might enjoy it (if only just for historical reasons) if you haven’t seen it before.

    Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad you enjoyed my stupid depiction of Arnold preparing the event's food, haha! That segment took far more time than I expected it to, but it was a lot of fun to put together. I actually DO care that Soleil is pronounce "So-lay!" I always prefer to get things like that right, because I want this show to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible... I guess I should have looked that up before I just assumed how to pronounce it. So thank you for the clarification! Kinda makes me want to re-do it, haha. In case I ever end up launching a Patreon for this channel, I always keep notes about each episode for future "Making of" videos that might be Patreon exclusives some day, where I'll be showing my bloopers, deleted scenes, and memories of the process from putting together each episode. I'll have to add this mispronunciation the "what went wrong" segment for this one, haha. Oooh, you're right about getting a "family photo" of Biehn, Hamilton, and Furlong... I didn't even think about that! That would have been awesome. I'm so glad you enjoyed the R-Rated montage, haha! I originally meant for that to be literally two or three seconds - it was just going to be Uncle Bob degloving, Dyson and Tarissa screaming, and Sarah bursting into flames... but as I was chopping those clips out of the film, I kept going past other shots and thinking, "Ooh, this would be funny, too..." and pretty soon it just became this big monstrous montage, haha. And the part where it's cut to look like Sarah is pumping Dyson full of lead was just a happy accident, but I'm glad you appreciated it! I get a kick out of the way that looks too, haha. TOURETTE'S GUY!! I'm utterly shocked that you picked that up!! I really only put that in there because my brother and I watched him constantly, and I put that in there with the hope that he MIGHT pick that up... I certainly didn't expect anyone else to! (Especially since it's fairly quiet.) I'm very impressed! You just made my day with that! As for the T2 convention - I think I have seen this video before! But it's been awhile, and I think I forgot about it. So I'm glad you shared it with me! I made a comment on it asking for permission to use some of it in the future when I cover that fan convention. Thanks! Thank you so much for the really awesome and thorough comment! I make zero money from this channel - it's just a passion project, so it's fueled purely by viewer feedback and awesome comments like this. So thank you!

    @@Tfor2show Well to start off, I can see the effort you did with that segment of Arnold as a chef and it’s as important that you had fun in making it. As for the pronunciation of Soleil, that word is admittedly not very clear on how to pronounce at first glance given that it derives from French. It means “sun” in English. I remember it in a way by thinking of Cirque du Soleil. I’m glad you agree with me about the missed opportunity of not getting a “family photo” of those three. That would have indeed been awesome to see. I like hearing how that R-rated montage flourished into something much bigger. That really was one great big happy accident if that was the case for the cut making it look like Sarah is shooting at Miles. It was very funny. I used to watch Tourettes Guy a lot too with my siblings. I hope your brother notices his voice being in this video. Some of the funniest clips of Tourettes Guy in my opinion are when he calls up the Colgate hotline to voice a “complaint”, when he’s carrying a box of paper towels down the stairs only for the bottom of the box to open causing it all to spill, when he yells at an M&M’s statue after waking up, when he throws something at a bird that’s in his house but it misses so it hits a clock instead ending with the bird flying into his face, and when he hears that the show Magnum PI is on so he rushes into the other room where it’s playing as he pushes someone in the way down who was carrying a laundry basket. Most of all though, my absolute favorite one is when he is at the supermarket as he yells a swear word passing by some mother with her kids which makes one of the kids laugh, when he is backing up in a mobility scooter which makes him bump into something causing a sign to fall on him, and lastly the funniest part for me is when he barges into one of the back rooms where he asks what looks like bakers where the bathrooms are at in the market. If you haven’t watched it yet there is also a video by the KZread channel wavywebsurf that discusses the origins of Tourettes Guy and goes into further details about him: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWd6qMmNiKq4mLg.html I am happy to see that I reminded and pointed you towards that video of the convention. I did notice your comment on there too. I will be looking forward to seeing you make a video covering it. I can tell this channel is a passion project. Thanks again for all the great feedback! I'm so glad you're still with me after joining back in the early days, so you can come along with me as the show grows. That's so cool! Really means a lot to me. And thank you so much for suggesting the Tourette's Guy origins video!! I'm really excited to watch this. Added it to my "Watch list." As far as my favorite moments of Tourette's Guy... that's really hard to say. What I can say is that when they started introducing his "dad," it felt too contrived for me. It was okay, but just... didn't feel natural. Up until then, most of it was believable enough that you could get lost in it and pretend it was real. Up until then, I absolutely loved it! Also... I was really surprised to see that they just recently released a new video! If you haven't seen it, here's a link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2d_w8WAl5zHlcY.html Also, since we're talking Tourette's Guy... here's something I made back in 2007 that you might enjoy! I kinda forgot about it until now... I should upload this to KZread. @@Tfor2show Well admittedly I found your channel when you had already uploaded all your “Season 1” videos but at the time I didn’t know they were formatted that way so I assumed your channel had become inactive. Regardless, I binge watched them all and then I was so ecstatic to discover that there was going to be a “Season 2” so that’s when I made the decision to subscribe. One of the reasons I like supporting smaller channels like yours is that there is more of a chance to get a response back to comments I make. Since your next video is going to be about that signature revolving shotgun here’s something I learned about that type of weapon. I’ve read that the earliest appearance of a revolving gun was in the 1939 film, Stagecoach: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6RnpKqHis2dm5s.html It also appeared in the 1969 film, True Grit: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2yD1bt-aM7Poco.html Maybe you can perhaps briefly mention this in your next video because it was pretty cool to discover these movie clips and it would be great for others to know about it. As for the Tourettes Guy, I personally didn’t find anything wrong with his “dad”. I thought he was just as funny but everyone has opinions after all and I will respect yours. My favorite exchange of his is when he is at a restaurant with other people and one of them says _“The strongest, biggest creatures on Earth are vegetarians”_ and he answers _“Yeah like the Brontosaurus, look what happened to that asshole.”_ which made me laugh a lot the first time I heard it. I’ve read that he is apparently an actor named Sal Lizard who is mostly known for dressing up as Santa Claus which is amusing since Danny, the Tourettes Guy himself, calls him a mall Santa as an insult in one of the clips. As an avid viewer of the Tourettes Guy, I have already seen that video you have linked but regardless I still rewatched it. Thanks for linking it anyways in case I hadn’t seen it before. It is always a pleasant surprise to see new content from them. It is rather sobering to see Danny is starting to get gray hair though. It really shows how much time has passed. Wow! I remember YTMND from a long time ago. I never went on to the website itself but I do remember a few memes (or I should say fads as that’s what they were called) that came from there that I saw on KZread like “lol, internet” and “Link finds...” where I particularly remember the one where Link opens a chest and finds a pixelated dancing ninja (which itself was also from another fad) pop out with Daft Punk music being used: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6ttrKOMadXfiMY.html In regards to your creation, I do like how you photoshopped Danny’s head on to other people and matched the lighting as well for that extra detail in some of the shots. I could also see Danny be a part of a band with those screams he could pull off. What music did you use in it too? I would like to know just out of curiosity. I do think it is a good idea to upload it on to KZread just to have it preserved somewhere else. I know you wouldn’t want to lose it given how old it is now. Well anyways I will always enjoy having a conversation with someone talking about old school internet topics and I will look forward to your next video. I hope you also enjoy the video on Tourettes Guy that I linked. Wavywebsurf is a great KZread channel and he has many more excellent and informative videos.

    T2 was great but if they had made it in the gritty 80s again with the same high tech SFX , story and characters then we would have had something special. Skynet would not wait that long to send more terminators and this would have been ideal to see ARNOLD T800 vs ARNOLD T1000 that would have been the most epic sequel that never was.

  • @Tfor2show

    @Tfor2show

    2 жыл бұрын

    Well, keep in mind that Skynet didn't wait that long. They're sitting there in 2029 with their time displacement device, and they send back the first T-800 to 1984. They see immediately that it fails, so they immediately send a more advanced Terminator, the T-1000, to 1994 to kill young John directly, right before the Resistance shows up, sees what Skynet has done, and responds by sending back Reese to 1984, and then reprogramming Uncle Bob to send back to 1991. In regards to Arnold vs. Arnold - Cameron said that that was actually his very first idea for T2, but he thought it would be a bit hokey, because "we've already seen a big muscley Terminator." So instead, he came up with the more advanced and slimmer T-1000, to give the audiences something new and unexpected.

    @@Tfor2show Yeah I see where Cameron is coming from still would have been cool. The Arnold t1000 could pretend to be the t800 Arnold and Sarah and John wouldn't know the difference then a few minutes later T800 comes in to save them ofcourse there would have to be a reason for T1000 not to kill them right away.

    @@Tfor2show if reference to Skynet and the sequel I get that movies are there for marketing making money and keeping the fan base engaged which T2 did a ton , however not having Arnold not kill anyone really felt like he list his balls . The suspense would have been so much higher if Sarah or at least John would have seen him terminate someone and later we get that cool deleted chip scene with Linda's twin. So question because the concept of Terminator time travel is a bit confusing. The resistance sends back Kyle Reese , and at the same time in 1991 sends Uncle Bob Arnold ? I would love to see a remake in the vein of Drive and Theif with that Synth wave music and future aesthetic but set in the 80s again . It would be a hybrid of old and new but in homage to the 80s using 21st century tech.

    Another good episode. I have to admit, I never really got the point of celebrity premieres. Half the people look like they don't want to be there, can't be arsed to dress up and look presentable, nor will they give a meaningful answer to the most basic questions. What's the point other than just a way to generate more publicity? Considering Arnie and Stallone did not like each other very much, I enjoyed watching Stallone just wanting to get the fuck out of there quickly. Also, Nicolas Cocaige.

  • @Tfor2show

    "Nicolas Cocaige," haha!! Very nice. Yeah, I really think the ONLY point of these things is publicity. Now that I think of it, I described them in this episode as "kind of a marketing thing," but the more appropriate word is definitely "publicity." Some people just go crazy over celebrities, and this sort of thing is a great way to get a bunch of people's attention.
