The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of the best movies ever. The story is great, the animation, the characters, and especially the soundtrack. The fact that we got the voice of Quasimodo here is amazing, isn't it? Life's unexpected that way. Not to mention the amount of excellent fanart shipping Quasimodo and Esmeralda together on Deviantart. I, for one, still ship them together as they were personally compatible for another. The world has enough cookie cutter and one-dimensional guys like Phoebus as it is. Disclaimer: I'm not attacking the character that was Phoebus (considering he did assist Quasimodo halfway through the film), but rather dryly commenting on guys that happen to resemble him in personality and disposition who honestly think that by looks alone can they get the girl despite the fact that leaf sheets of paper have more personality than they do.

Yours, Kevin Klines, and Tony Jay's performances are some of the best male performances in any Disney animated movie anyone has ever seen. Speaking of hunchback I got to thinking about the movie and realized how relevant the story is even more today more specifically in how corrupt the justice system is and the meaning of why people from other cultures seek sanctuary. If I were to give a ranking for this film I'd put it at number 1 alongside beauty and the beast.

That Wayne Knight joke was pure gold! And so we've come to the end of the Renaissance. It's pretty fascinating how these last few films went in different directions from Disney's usual ideas for adaptations, like epic novels and ancient myths and poems. This especially applies to the art direction and animation of each film. Speaking of the Florida Studio, I actually got to see that Mushu presentation when I went to WDW with a friend of mine. It was fun learning about Mushu's production origins and I remember loving some of his proposed film ideas like 'Mushu of Notre Dame.'

I loved all the Disney Renaissance not just Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas but also The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan. I missed and loved hand drawn animated films of Disney during the 90's. The Disney Renaissance is my nostalgia childhood! 😀😃😄 👍🏻 💖❤

Fun facts: -Aside of Tantor, Wayne Knight was the voice of Al from Toy Story 2, which came out in the same year. -Another thing that both Tarzan and Toy Story 2 have in common is that they were nominated for Best Original Song, "You'll be in my heart" (the winner) and "When she loved me", respectively. -Speaking of which, Phil Collins wrote "You'll be in my heart" for his daughter, Lily, before it was used as one of the songs for Tarzan. -Mulan, Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame became cult classics. The only Disney movies of the Renaissance that are actually underrated are Tarzan, The Rescuers Down Under and Pocahontas.

Bendy The Ink Demon I don’t really care. I was never attached to Les Mis and I’ve never seen or read any version of it. I’m just saying financially a Disney Les Mis wouldn’t work because of the stage musical’s notoriety. Even if we have ignore the stage musical... people will still bitch about CGI as an art form and animation style and not care about the work their actually is in making the CGI model like you would a stop-motion model and having to make sure the model flows well and is smooth like its intended to unlike what 2D is when it’s no doing 12-24 frames per second. Sorry... I just feel like you might be one of those people who don’t appreciate the work going into CG animation and visual effects. I have a sister who graduated with a degree in computer animation and who learned from three former Disney animators and even 2D animation. She doesn’t make the models, she makes animation based on the premade models that she’s bought to make the actual animation, as in the characters’ movements.

2000 - 2008 in next part... OH BOY! If many of you thought the 1980s was a dark age for disney (which it was) I considered this time period their REAL dark age. Most of the Films that were financial flops that almost made them go bankrupt for the animation departments, 2d animation becoming dead during this time in favor of computer animation, 2 big new titans in pixar and dreamworks fighting each other in the industry during this time, controversy between pixar and disney. Luckily, this was also the age, just like the 1980s that came with good things that would help disney make a comeback again.

Hunchback definitely suffered in trying to balance family friendly elements in a more mature story, it's a movie you learn to appreciate more the older you get, but not flawless. Hellfire was only the taste of what Disney could accomplish if they just let loose. Hercules, the movie where the weakest link is... the titular character and considering how great everything else is, Megara, Hades, the Muses, Phil, that's a big oversight. Mulan is great, the message of identity, Shang singing, Mushu and Cri-Kee make up for a lot of its setbacks like the bland villain, the few songs, and a slight tone problem that was plaguing this particular era of the Reinassance, where the climax usually shifts from dramatic to comedic just like that. I grew up with Tarzan, it's my most quoted movie, but looking back on how the first 25 minutes have a great backstory, an interesting theme of acceptance and self-improvement, and an incredibly badass villain (Sabor) all done with minimal dialogue makes it a little disappointing see the story progress to the usual Disney motions of love interest, villain, comedic sidekick.
