Roger Rabbit helped out a lot of people in so many ways. 1: It helped Spielberg work on cartoons like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid as well as working on Balto, Casper and Fievel Goes West. 2: It helped Katzenberg and Spielberg make their own new animtion studio at DreamWorks. 3: Robert Zemeckis would help on other movies like Polar Express. 4: Hybrid films like Space Jam, Looney Tunes Back in Action, Guardians of the Galaxy, Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog would take inspiration from this film. 5: Richard Williams would get to finish The Thief and the Cobbler, for better and for worse. 6: Animation would be in the mainstream with stuff like The Simpsons. 7: Disney would have the confidence they need to complete The Little Mermaid and usher in the Disney Renaissance!

Speaking of which, Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit are my favorites. The tales of Brer Rabbit in this film are very memorable to me, as I was introduced to him when I was young, with the Tar Baby segment of the film (which I saw prior to the Song of the South film itself.) Its a pity that this film didn’t get re-releases, due the supposed controversy that it’s known for. I was fortunately able to see the film online and I recommend it to anyone that has yet to see it.

Before we finally close the book on our adventure through Walt Disney Animation Studios, Let's turn the pages back to 1964 where a stern, yet wonderful nanny takes the Banks children and Dick Van Dyke into the world of the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious kind with Mary Poppins, then turn the page forward to 1988 where before video-game characters teamed up in Wreck-it Ralph, Marvel heroes came together in the MCU and before Batman fought Superman, there was a world in which a grumpy detective and a cartoon bunny teamed up to solve a murder mystery in a world in which Disney, MGM, Looney Tunes and Betty Hoop Interact in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and finally, discover a forbidden world from 1946 in which a well-intentioned adaptation of the Uncle Remus Stories led to it being sealed away forever in the Vault with Song of the South. And so ends the greatest Disney Animation documentary of all time!

Well guys, it's been quite an adventure watching this journey of Walt Disney Animation Studios with you all. As we prepare for our final chapter in this animation lookback, we are about to embark on some adventures that combine live action and animation into one unit. While some movies we've already seen in this lookback have done that, like "Dinosaur", these films use real life actors interacting with cartoon characters, and the results of these are going to be very interesting. We'll step in time as we meet Mary Poppins as she becomes the nanny of two children, witness one of the biggest animation crossovers in history as we try to find out who framed Roger Rabbit, and finally, we talk about a rather controversial part in Disney's history that, despite its problems, at least gave us some fun songs and for a long time was the theme of a popular Disneyland attraction. Regardless of how these films go, there is no denying that they have a strong place in Disney's history, just like the animated films. As we conclude our story, let me say, it has been an honor getting to witness this adventure with you all. Thank you all, and may Disney continue to impact our lives as we continue our journeys...in the great circle of life. Great job, AniMat, for this series of videos, and great job, ToucanLDM, for those funny animations. You've given us a fun series of videos that I'm sure many of us will be looking back on from time to time. Good luck with whatever comes next, and Happy Easter!

How do I put this delicately... Watching this Lookback and recalling how the original was made 11 years ago, comparing this Lookback to the original perfectly replicates the growth in Disney’s animation back in it’s very beginnings. When in the late 1920s and early 30s, the studio made short, zero budget silly cartoons with stick figured Mickey Mouses, but in the span of only one decade, they evolved and improved their craft to the point they were making some of the greatest masterpieces in both animation and cinema with Snow White, Pinocchio and Fantasia. In other words, you have definitely followed in Walt’s footsteps to expand and improve you’re craft with each new video you make, and this Lookback should honestly be used in schools and art colleges to teach students as well as older children about the studio and the development of movies and animation to hopefully inspire them. You really weren’t kidding when you stated that this would be the crowning achievement of your KZread career. PS: I’m also looking forward to the upcoming Jim Henson Lookback. It will be tough trying to top off the series from Defunctland, but if the young Disney crew managed to top off what was originally considered the definitive film version of Beauty and the Beast, then I have all the confidence in you!

I’d feel more sorry for P.L. Travers if it weren’t for the fact that she was a jaded cynic who hated lighthearted escapism and believed that children should be taught that the world is nothing but a cruel place and that they should accept it! That being said, I wish Saving Mr. Banks had been more honest in its depiction of Walt Disney and had cast someone like JK Simmons as him!

This was definitely a really well done finale video to top off this on-going project of updating your first Animation Lookback on the Walt Disney Animation Studios and very detailed and informative; and also hilarious with ToucanDLM’s animated sketches. I and many others definitely enjoyed this updated Animation Lookback on Walt Disney Animation Studios and I’m glad I got to be a part of the ride through the history of the studio from Walt just being amateur animator himself to the release of Frozen II and how his studio has grown and adapted in the modern era. And I cannot wait to see your Lookback on the Muppets despite the many claims that Defunctland already covered it. The way I see it, if West Side Story could get another film adaptation this year despite the original 1961 film adaptation existing, then a new web-documentary series on the Muppets can also co-exist with Defunctland’s series on Jim Henson.

I will always understand the mishaps with Katzenberg, but given his background and dedication, not to mention the retrospect on how DreamWorks got to happened, i would have said since the beginning "he has a point...". He's not someone who can be in charge without questioning, but with the right people, he might have been able to be a great successor.

I saw “Roger Rabbit” twice in a theater since I was 10, and I really enjoyed it a lot. This is why I love cartoons so much that I got me into it. The movie is way better than the NES game which was really bad, and it was LJN that published the game, and Rareware developed the game. I played the NES game and it was godawful. I might as well stick with this movie.

I think it's funny that Gilliam said it was too challenging, because in actuality he first said that it was a bad idea. He described it as like another Howard the Duck film when he first was given the offer that he rejected it, but since regretted the decision. Also, Richard Williams was a pain in the ass for everyone involved, and it led to the Toontown sequence to be animated in Glendale entirely because he made everyone's lives on that production a living hell, especially when he started funneling the animation budget into Thief.

This lookback holds the record for the longest Animation Lookback you've ever made. At approximately eleven hours, nineteen minutes, and sixteen seconds not including the end credits of each part. Breaking the previous record held by the best of Stop-Motion, which ran at approximately three hours, thirty-six minutes, and thirty-one seconds not including the end credits of each part.

Wonderful in every way! Not only a great conclusion but even an intreaging ending. Granted part of me thinks that Song of the South should have been first to be more time accurate not to mention make it more of a happier end, but still from all the lookback that came upon over the years none can be the best as much as this. Even If I wasn't in from 2009 I was more happy to be a part as of now. Can't wait for the next one!

So. Before this starts, I would like to say thank you Animat for such an awesome Lookback. I have learned so many things about some of my favorite movies, and I shared what I learned with my family (and back when I had high school classes, one of my favorite teachers.) I'll always cherish all 16 parts. And even in it ups and downs (especially with the live action departments obsession with remakes), I will always love Walt Disney Animation Studios. Oh, almost forgot! Shortest thoughts yet. Mary Poppins: This is just nostalgic. The animated segment was always my favorite. Who framed Roger Rabbit: Didn't see this till I was a teen. But the story and cast were cool. The villain was down right terrifying. And the animation was fantastic, and still revolutionary after almost forty years. Song of the South: haven't seen it. And I really don't care if I see it or not. While I like the song (and you know which one I'm referring to), it's just that one controversial film that I never got around to get to. Like Coonskin, I want to say I watched them to form an option. Heck, I was planning on watching it for an essay I was thinking of writing for my senior year. But then covid happened, school ended early, I lost contact with my history teacher, and generally lost interest. So I have yet to give my time to watch it. And as for the news about Splash mountain replacing it's theme for Princess and the Frog, I like it. It's about time they used this theming and incorporated my favorite movie into a ride. I don't get why "fans" got mad with the announcement. It's not like the entire ride is going to change. I'm sure the drops are gonna stay, they have to. It's just the story and animatronics that are going to get swapped. (Then again, park "fans" getting pissed about literally everything new is to be expected. I mean, Remember when they first announced new fantasyland and mission: breakout and the internet went ballistic?)
