So people thought its a myth

Unicorns are supposed to be chimerical creatures. They have the body of a deer, head of a horse with a horn coming out of its forehead, feet of a goat, and a tail of a lion. But because of film pre-CGI, most people think unicorns are just horses with a horn. 😪 I hope one day a big budget film will portray unicorns as they’re really supposed to look. I’m still waiting for the live-action movie of Peter S. Beagle’s “The Last Unicorn” to be made. 🤞

The animated the last unicorn is for me the definitive version on how unicorns look and be like. Majestic, ethereal, elegant, pure white beautiful creatures who look mostly like a horse but with cloven hooves with tufts of hair at the ankle and lion like tails.

I would love to hear about Sumerian mythology considering it is the oldest recorded mythology.

I believe that the Unicorn once existed in the ancient forests of Earth. Purifying the waters and healing the animals and plants it came in contact with. Once humans started creating cities and cutting down the forests, the Unicorns most likely went extinct. But if they still exist, I believe you would find them in the deepest forests unhindered by Man.

In East Asia, unicorns are an amalgam of a deer and a dragon, with either one horn or two. In China they’re called chilin/qilin. In Korea and Japan they’re called kirin.

@William Attaway In East Asia, the qilin/kirin are depicted in several different ways. Sometimes they have one horn or two. Sometimes the tip of the horn(s) is red. Sometimes their body is covered with scales like a dragon. Other times their body is covered with fur like a deer. Some imagery has a pair qilin/kirins together - one with scales and the other with fur. Sometimes their fur has spots. Other times their fur has pinwheel spirals. European unicorns are almost always depicted as being completely white. East Asian unicorns come in a variety of colors with fur or scales that can be blue or green or yellow and so on.

Fun fact: The Abada is actually the Okapi, the short necked forest dwelling relative of the giraffe.

It's been said that It's horn could pierce their armor and kill them with a single strike, after that the creature fell and disappeared. these stories goes way back, some 700 years old. and today the unicorn is back, in a different shape and strategy this time.

I have seen these in the spirit world! I was clinically dead for four minutes and on life support for three days! The best three days of my life and I wasn’t even physically alive! Ever since then I have been seeing auras and into other dimensions and when I have been in a very good place of feeling very good in meditation I have seen these beautiful creatures and Pegasus! An anime talked about the problems with the modern interpretations of the unicorn. If you go the full horse route you find issues with the horn in which the body can't get enough nutrients to maintain the horn unlike a elk or deer. Two horses don't have split hooves. Many medieval depictions show the unicorn with the split hoof characteristic. If it did come from the horse lineage it split off awhile back. My theory is that it was not a horse at all but a horse look alike. An animal for the deer or goat family that developed the same shape or features as a horse. However the horse tail is up for debate do to varying depictions.

Other interpretations of this creature like the Greeks we're probably rhino's due to the coloration. Even the kirin seems closer to this description do to the skin of certain rhino's.

🤔 Listening to this makes me think of tigers. Tigers are hunted for many reasons one being some people think they hold magical powers. Tigers are on the endangered species list. The threat of being extinct is real for the Tiger. If they actually go extinct without photos and records of their existence people will question if they ever existed at all even though it was people who hunted them to Extinction.🤔

The classic unicorn has nothing to do with a horse, it has features of a stag (eye glands) and a goat (goatbeard), and cloven hooves. I studied original, very old depictions and descriptions of Unicorns, the size is either that of a strong stag but not larger than a pony (14 hands). That horses are still used for depicting unicorns is a movie prop thing (it is just way easier to attach a horn onto a well trained horse than to a white untrained deer, and of course it does look elegant if you keep the proportions of the horn right).

Unicorns represent the absence of negativity and evil and are they shining head of purity Grace and all things true and good of mysticism and Majesty that's what they are what people saw in the past I cannot say but I personally believe that if unicorns truly are real they would have the ability to sort of teleport between realms to come to our world and go to where we cannot follow them hence the term elusiveness but as all things positive in our minds can be a place of peace such as a unicorn it's not easily explained

About to get schoolteacherish. Even those with poor education in English grammar would correct "THERE IS NO LIONS" to "THERE ARE NO LIONS". Your name implies you hate everyone. I really hope you are just very young. If you're over 18 this is not a name people will humour. There are people here, young and old, who have lost loved ones to suicide or may even be living with terrible injuries from a failed personal attempt. It is never a joke. Good Grief! There were lions in England, they have long since been hunted to extinction, along the the bear, the wolf and the wild boar. The " noble " sport of hunting was thereby reduced to hunting foxes until it was finally banned.

I own a genuine unicorn horn. It is some sort of antler, just a long straight spike. Deer literally are unicorns sometimes.

The arabian oryx fits the bill very well. Now imagine you have never seen this animal and someone is trying to describe it to you in terms you understand. It's like a horse in body, with long spiral horn, an long tail with a puff at the tip. Whiteish in color. cloven hooves. So you draw a white horse, stick a horn in the middle of the hard and boom, you have the unicorn.

Then you lose your freedom. I'd rather be looked at as a joker for living my truth than loved for being something that I'm not or someone less than the real me. I don't have a need to convince anyone in order to know from my own experience what is real for me, but it's up to each one to know what is real for them. For whatever you believe the universe will prove to you again and again until you learn to pick and choose your mental and emotional beliefs. There's a reason the secrets of the universe were only revealed in ancient monasteries, because of societies conditioning only sincere seekers will be able to receive and apply the truths because otherwise they simply won't understand or be disciplined enough to apply the teachings to test them for themselves before doubting the validity of the teaching. My Guru always says "I don't require your belief, I require only your integrity. I have nothing to gain only you have everything to gain, I have already proven who I am, it's time for you to know who you are." Just apply what you have learned from following your heart. That's all nothing else is needed. The power is already within us all. Everything else you need to learn will come to you. Remember- Honesty is the price our conscience pays for protection from unnecessary mental anguish. 😉
