The History Of The Wild Mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

There's many Wild Mouse roller coaster concepts in the world, but none as wild as the Wild Mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach used to be. In this video, I'll be taking a look back at the history of the Wild Mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

@@yourexperienceguide Hi could you answer me a question please? 'The Steeplechase'. I know it was modified slightly (the seats on the horse). Have they also slowed it down? Before it used to seem faster. It was quite rough and scary. Or was it just an illusion on the old seats, as you clung on for life, with your legs all the way round? (the bruises). Now the worse part of it is getting onto the horse in the first place (avoid wearing tight trousers).

I love the Wild Mouse, but it really struggled to cope once the park went to wristbands. I barely rode it in the last few years, simply because the queues had become so long and slow. It's a shame it went, but I can't honestly be too harsh on the park for closing it. I only wish they'd given us the chance to say our farewells, rather than closing it so abruptly.

It was fine before the ride even colour was normal. Took me a bit to get that ankle out of the ride car. On the way home we were discussing if we should go to a&e but we didn't think they'd believe us when we said a roller coaster did it. Personally I would rebuild the Wild Mouse exactly as it was exactly where it was. It was a piece of the Park's HISTORY! I still remember the year my little sister turned 10 and decided she wanted to start coming on the Coasters with me, that she was too big for the kiddie rides lol. Fair do's after starting simple on the Roller Coaster she immediately then demanded "Revolution Revolution!!!" By the end of that day only the Wild Mouse was left. As I said, she was only 10, and though she was plenty tall enough, she ended up 5'11", she was as skinny as a stick of spaghetti. So on we went, her sat in front of me, and I am trying to hold her as tight as I could but once we hit the first series of S bends oh my word I thought I had broken my wee sister, thought I'd snapped her in half lol. I expected her to start screaming and crying at any second, already dreading the pasting i was gonna get from Mum but no, she survived and came off grinning from ear to ear, " again again again" lol. Good on ye Vicky, top quality bottle 👏👏👏👏👏

So sad it’s gone, and the disrespectful way it was removed and the public was treated will always leave a bitter taste. Edit: And to be clear, the disrespect came in the sudden destruction overnight without any public notice (clearly to avoid any public protest) and THEN with a ludicrous little public memo that it was removed in the name of future progress (an obvious lie - there’s still nothing in the spot). If the coaster had to go because of maintenance or insurance issues, then they should have told the public this. Instead, they did this stealth destruction maneuver, and released this blatant “f.u.” lie to the public to swallow. It’s the most terribly handled ride removal in modern amusement park history.

Definitely covered the removal subject in the video, very rarely sugarcoat things at BPB that I think were done wrong/badly or should be changed, but there was no bad intentions with the Mouse removal. It just happened as it did, they still regret how it played out but the park is not a safe place to be for 1000s of guests out of season to turn up for last rides on a coaster. It wasn’t operational at the time either, the ‘mice’ were in the workshop being prepped for modernisation.
