The History of the Months of the Year

No one really thinks twice about the meanings behind the months of the year.
If you’ve ever learned Latin or another Romance language, you might notice a similarity
between the number 7-10 and the months of September to December. Why is September
to December named after the number 7-10 when they are months 9-12? What is the origin of the other months of the year?

Are there any similarities between the Roman days of the month and the languages that you speak? 📆🏛

from my experience, in Paris people always pronounce the t because otherwise it's confusing d'août would sound like doux and en août would sound like en nous

The french people I know (I live in Quebec) always pronounce the T, but the Québécois do not, or at least I have not met one yet who did, in fact they often make it 2 syllables as well and say kind of like "ah-ou"

@@DragonDeFord It depends: I'm French and both pronunciations exist. In most cases in France the final "t" is pronounced but I already heard août without the "t". There is usually no confusion because we take into account the context. Pronouced with 2 syllabes "a-ou" is not usual in France. It's "Old French" and most likely only used as such in Quebec.

Well I would say from what I read in the comments that French people pronounce the t in août and Canadians don't (which I would say is totally true as I'm French and my cousins are Canadians and I believe they pronounce it aou)

Hi, there dear friends. By the way, the gregorian calendar is not the right one. The property was originally from the Hebrew calendar. Even the names of the week and months were not given or named by the Creator of the universe as at the beginning of times, they were changed by an evil system we´re still living on. I suggest you reflect on it! Blessings to everyone!
