There are a lot of areas that are historic & deserve having some light shone on them! Well done

Wow thanks for showing the Contrast Magazine! I knew the original publisher. Horace Gooden. He was a great man. He worked for the betterment on the Canadian-Jamaican Diaspora until he died. RIP

Excellent video. Some more info on the Annex ... Don Harron & Catherine McKinnon lived on Lowther Avenue starting from the 70's - 2020s. As well Keanu Reeves lived on Lowther with his family for several years in the 70's. The Manulife Center and Yorkdale Mall (original design) architect - Octavio Gonzalez lived on Lowther as well from the 1970-1989. Many creative professionals lived/raised in the Annex.

So cool! I had a lot fun nights cutting the rug at the Dance Cave, and even more shuffling through peanut shells with a Canadian at the Bruny.

My parents lived at 901 Bathurst (between Bloor and Dupont) when I was born, then we moved to Annette St and I went to Runnymede PS for kindergarten and then we moved back to 901 Bathurst and I went to Palmerston PS for grade 1, then my parents bought a house on Runnymede and I went back to Runnymede PS from grades 2-8. Like most kids in The Annex I hated being dragged around Honest Ed's by my mom whenever she went shopping there. Lol

Grew up just south of the Annex on Brunswick in the 70/80s. Family moved up north in the late 80s. As soon as I was able to afford a place, I moved back and staying forever. I'll never be able to afford a house here , but I don't care. I just love the neighbourhood.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, it's called the Annex because the community was annexed by the growing City of Toronto, much as many other small villages and hamlets were.

This such a lovely part of Toronto. Myself and my late husband Vince Sicilia and son Geoff. In total 40 + yrs we lived in a lovely Vic house on Major St. 720 Spadina Ave..Vince was well known in the area known for his walks on a Bloor St...my son and I still live in the area and will continue to....keep the Annex away from the. Greed of money🦋

4:37 I live on Borden Street and, assuming the "Alhambra" here is today's Lee's Palace, did there used to be a stoplight at Bloor and Lippincott/Albany?

Harbord Street has never been part of the "official" Annex, which only begins north of Bloor. Of course, _unofficially,_ Harbord Bakery is definitely in The Annex, as every other person who likewise lives in The Annex would agree. "Harbord Village" still sounds weird to me, someone who's lived in three places in The Annex going back to 1996. www.harbordbakery.ca/index.html

Toronto has no respect for Architecture ,history , culture or style ( why whenever Hollywood movie needs a hideous ugly souless generic American distopia they film here ) Such an ugly miserable place .
