CNE stadium was the location of my first job back in '78, the 2nd year of Blue Jays baseball.Still in high school me and my best friend got a job working at the stadium for Versa Services (the concession providers) I also got my brother to work there. We started off working in the concession stands cooking Knockwursts and Footlong Hotdogs. Later on we would be the ones on motorized carts supplying all stands with product before the game. We worked football games, baseball games and all concerts Saw "Hotel California" concert in '78 and everyshow you could think of. Styx, Supertramp, The Who Queen, Genesis.... and on.

Not to forget the single 1990 season of Bud Stocks. Politicaly shut down over 'noise' complaints. Independent testing demonstrated the street car loop and train tracks were much louder when tested by Dufferin Gates.

My favorite time at the Grand Stand was when I saw Queen, (The Game Tour), second row floor on John Deacon's side. Snuck in a 110 camera and have lost those photo's to this day. Also saw Dio, (Mobs Rules Tour). Had nose bleed seats and snuck down to the center (Black seat section) and saw the show without getting kicked out. It was so loud that my ears are still ringing to this day. Great memories. Thanks for posting.

Saw Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, The Honeydrippers, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, The Who and several other bands there - all amazing shows. Joe Jackson opened for The Who and was booed off the stage; people were throwing all kinds of food and garbage at him... He didn't deserve that, but I never really cared for his music. Widely circulated rumour beforehand was that The Clash was opening for The Who (which would've been AMAZING), but we got Joe Jackson instead. I guess everyone was pretty bummed out about that. Unfortunately, I never saw any sports events there though oddly enough. Thank you for posting - just subscribed to your Channel.

Sunday September 13th 1992, the Guns N’ Roses / Metallica stadium tour. It was bittersweet for me. Living in Ottawa at the time, we were hoping to see the show at Olympic Stadium on Saturday August 8th. At the Montreal show, the Metallica set was cut short for obvious and acceptable reasons as James Hetfield suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns in a pyrotechnics mishap during the Fade to Black intro. Then there was a long delay for Guns to start and after Civil War (9th song), their set was cut short and Axl walked off the stage citing monitor problems. I was 17 at the time and getting caught in the ensuing riot was really scary. But wanting sweet, sweet redemption, we got tickets to the Toronto show. Worth every penny plus additional travel costs. The highlights for me was the first Metallica encore ending with One and not having played Enter Sandman meant a second encore! They indeed played Enter Sandman for their second encore! Guns highlight has to be November rain. We got home on Monday morning and went straight to school (hungover for good measure) as we promised our parents that we would be in school the Monday following the show if they let us go and take their car.

I was there for the Jays record setting 10 home run game against the Orioles in 1988. Speaking of BB records and such don't forget the first time ever a game was called on account of wind was at the EX! Big Jim Clancy started that game and could not keep from getting blown off the mound. When the sun set and the wind blew in from the lake with that awful damp air it was a misery. Damn those aluminum benches were just the worst.

Saw Neil Young there in Sep 1987. I was impressed that it was NOT loud at all, unlike other rock concerts, plus he took an intermission half way. I had seen the Cult there a week earlier. Now that was loud. Guns and Roses were the opening act and we were booing them so the Cult could come on stage. Who knew of the success GnR would later have. Other concerts attended at Grandstand: Rolling Stones 1989, Pink Floyd 1987, Robert Plant 1985, The Who 1980, Queen 1980 and the Bay City Roller in 1977 (I was 13 years old then). All were good times. 😎

Remember the days when the Minnesota Twins played at Metropolitan Stadium during the Rod Carew and Harmon Killebrew days before the Metrodome came into existence in 1982. That was natural grass back then and as of the 2010 season, the Twins play in Target Field which is Kentucky bluegrass and outdoors. Imagine if the Toronto Blue Jays will ever have an outdoor baseball only stadium with natural grass. That is much better than playing on artificial turf like those dreadful days at Exhibition Stadium.

I only ever saw baseball games there. At one time, the Pizza Pizza chain used to give away free Blue Jays tickets, I think, with a purchase. I believe, sometimes, they just gave away the tickets, especially when they were same day tickets that would otherwise go to waste. Blue Jays tickets came in handy during the Ex as that meant free admission to the Ex in order to get to the game. The tickets were general admission seats behind the right field fence the one time I went to a game with some friends during the Ex. Nobody could see the action at the other end, so the rowdy crowd took to heckling the opposing team's player in right field and on that occasion it was future Blue Jay and then New York Yankee Dave Winfield. The memories I have of other times sitting in the right field bleachers are: sore butt from the hard aluminum seats, sore back because there was no backrest, freezing when it was windy, sunburn when it was hot and legs falling asleep because the sharp corners of the benches would cut off your circulation. Rose-coloured memories?

Was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd there in 1994. Greatest concert tour anywhere. Saw my first concert there in 91, Guns N' Roses. with Skid Row opening. Seeing Paul McCartney there was a special treat, but the least favourite was the Eagles during the Hell Freezes Over tour. 11 days after Pink Floyd, they had the most stripped down basic stage set-up. Quite a contrast between the two shows. They opened with Hotel California, and played nothing but their solo stuff during second half.

Good old Exorcism Stadium so frigging cold in April and September watching the Jay's play. Who can forget the Alice Cooper riot there in the 80s as well. Dominion Stores use sell general admission tickets for .50 cents back in the late 70s and early 80s Jr. Jays games from Mc Donald's Jr, Jay's game they had the Mc Donalds home run hitter if that player hit a home run you got a coupon for a free regular hamburger and you had a card that would be stamped once it was full you got free small fries great time there as a kid.
