I swear that is one of many episodes i use as an introduction to new people in the fandom. It is so funny. Just a never ending barrage of problems for Sir Topham Hatt and the longer it goes on the more hilarious it gets.

@@mattevans4377 I only mentioned it as I feel that almost no one talks about it. I love Lady Hatt's Birthday Party, one of my favorites, but I feel that the other Topham centric episode deserves some love too.

I was Lowkey expecting a “you have caused confusion and delay” mixed in with the regular chorus of whistles at the end of the video

There are so many human characters left out of the show. Sir Handel Browne and his son Sir Handel The Second, Mr Mack, Mr Peter Sam and his son Mr Roger Sam, and even Sir Topham's great-grandson Sir Richard Topham Hatt.

Topham IS going to be in the reboot actually, but he won't be a controller, he'll be a comedian.

Sir Topham Hatt is my favorite character. He has a cool story in the railway series. He is always funny in cgi and has iconic quotes.

Glad you're back. You can do 'Arry and Bert and their models' history next.

Instead of "Hand Sculpted" in Maya I just say mouse sculpted. Loved this video, it's nice to have a series that focuses on all of the engines models and in such great detail too. Love your videos very much and keep up the fantastic work.

Who can imagine all the RWS books or the TVS versions of TTTE without the engines having faces?

He's always been my favorite human character. I remember getting nervous when he gave someone a stern talking to for messing up and causing confusion and delay. But I would be happy when someone did a good job and he called them really useful.

STH is actually in the reboot, he's said to be the only human that interacts with the engines.

This was a great history on Sir Topham Hatt models and history!! I certainly didn't know that in the Railway series there was a whole generation of different types of Sir Topham Hatt!! I always thought Sir Topham Hatt is always the same guy!!

If they ever go back to doing a 3D Thomas series, they should be like the LEGO movie, where it looks like actual models, but done in CGI. Characters like Sir Topham Hatt would have a limited number of poses, to add to the charm.

I think it’s a good move from the TV Series to make just one character named Sir Topham Hatt rather than a line of ancestry.

The former KZreadr CombineHarvester01 apparently owns a closeup model of Sir Topham Hatt, although I'm not sure on all the details. It's probably been a good 8-10 years since he got it and his whereabouts are very much unknown to me.

As you can see, I'm a very busy man.

I really need to re-read the books. I have 3 copies of the complete collection (books 1-26, all the Rev. W Awdry's books), plus hardback copies of books 1-6 in a box plus 7, 11, 27, and 30, plus a few random copies like a 12th edition hardback copy of book 2 from 1953, a 1994 book club edition of book 2, and several different novelisations of the tv show. I also need to re-watch the tv show, since I haven't seen more than half way through series 9.

I have a book in which Sir Topham Hatt has a flashback to when he was a little boy, and him and his father are traveling with a horse and cart, but it breaks. Stepney comes along, and Topham Hatt and his father have to ride on the coal car Stepney is pulling. They never mention the father’s name though. (Tbh, I’m not even sure this book is canon, cuz I doubt that Stepney could’ve been on Sodor before season 1takes place, let alone decades before.). The book is called Thomas-saurus Rex (geddit?)

i don't know whether you forgot about this, but a modified CGI model of Sir Topham Hatt all pumped up on Juice was made for a Studio Hansa film called "The Thomas and Friends Institute of Innovation". Apparently, the film was made to advertise the Thomas and Friends IP to studios other than HIT Entertainment. The lab technicians apparently took issue with him being a "Fat Controller" and made him get in shape...The SWOLE Controller?!? lol

The Fat Controllers name does not appear in the books until Henry the Green Engine in the story Percy and the trousers where in the picture of Percy sneaking into the station we can see on one of the trunks on the porters trolley "Sir Topham Hat"

What episode is 2:20 from? Also, even in the good seasons of the CGI era, I never cared for how Topham and the other humans looked/moved in CGI, They basically just redid the model figures in CGI. I’d personally go for a more Pixar-esqu design.
