I just downloaded Red Dead 2 today and have to say it's impressive considering it came out 5 years ago. I was never into the open world type games but after hearing so many others talk about it over the years, I decided to give it a try. No disappointment at all. 😊

Same here. Because when Revolver was released, I was damn kiddo obsessed with Sims 1 and Rayman 3. Also my mum never let me play violent or shooting games. Also I received my first game console (X Box One) just 2 years ago for Christmas. Redemption was my 20th birthday gift in 2017 from my sister. It didnt catch me for the first time, because... cmon, western.. For someone who played GTA V over and over again it was very weak choice of a game.. But then somehow I started loving country music, western movies, books and I gave RDR second chance.. and became completely obsessed with it. When I finally come back home from UNI, i spend hours and hours playing RDR.

@ Rob Picken - If you can handle the PS2-era graphics, then try out _Red Dead Revolver_ when you get the chance. The controls still feel good to this day, and I've played it for the first time over a year ago. Plus, it came out on the PS4 along with other Rockstar classics like _Bully_ , _Manhunt_ , and the entire _GTA III_ trilogy.

Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly the best game I have ever played. I'm a sucker for a good story (which isn't a popular opinion since most people favor gameplay over anything else) and RDR felt like a film. Conflict, character development, betrayal, making friends along the way, revenge. An amazing experience, and if RDR2 is half as good, it will still be pretty damn great. I don't expect it to be better to be honest, but I'd love to be surprised.

IDusty IDingo: Totally agreed. The main character hates the federal government (sounds more libertarian/conservative/...even anarchist compared to anti-capitalist). Socialists love the government because it redistributes wealth from would-be capitalists to people who can't or won't work. I'm all for helping people who can't help themselves (and I do), but totally against people taking other people's money for gain, idleness, drugs, etc. This game constantly reminded the player of how freedom was being killed off in the west do to encroaching government. Dangerous freedom? Yes. Preferable to peaceful slavery via a controlling and corrupt government. And (spoilers) the government kills the main character at the end of the game.

the dangers of capitalism back then meant times were changing. more people were going to come and change the way people do things out there in the country and more people would bring more industry and more federal rule over them and they went out there to be free from all of that. i guess you can also say that when you get to the native americans part they mention how people are killing the animals for profit and soon there will be no more animals because of peoples greed and being unaware of the effect of it

Capitalism and greed aren't the same thing, but greed can be introduced into capitalism. Just like greed can be introduced into socialism (those wanting to be idle for other people's money and efforts). You don't have to be rich to be greedy. Yes, manifest destiny needed to be restrained...no doubt, but that still isn't capitalism. From Google: Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.... From Merriam-Webster: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.

Interestingly and ironically, Red Dead Redemption came to be as a result of capitalism. Under an entirely socialist, state-led government, Red Dead would be either cancelled, or censored to death due to depictions of racism, assault on women, cultural appropriation (Marston can wear Mexican clothing), cruelty to animals (PETA would love to see this game go away), religious references esp. Christianity, etc. As California becomes more and more socialist, it's also interesting to see how many people are already fussing over the RDR 2 Trailers because they don't show enough women or strong female leads. Rockstar is located in California and as the state government tightens its grip on free speech and art, it will be interesting to see if Rockstar becomes a victim of the very governmental mindset they portray as the enemy in its games.

Oh my god I just finished Red Dead Redemptions story, and damn that was actually amazing. The ending of chapter 6 really just, felt like a punch in the gut but it payed off in the epilogue. If anyone is considering buying it though I will point some things out. It is a very cinematic and story driven game. There is lots of talking and discussing. It’s almost like an interactive movie. If that’s not the kinda game for you, I’d suggest you pass. But if you’re ok with it it’s incredible. The characters are so memorable and some are likable.

I'm SOOO Ready for RDR2. ...but with all the delays, the hype and expectations keep going up. I don't want to see people coming out and bashing the game with disappointment because it did or didn't do something they expected. Like "No Man's Sky". I found that to be a great game, but the extended delays and hype left most people feeling more disappointed than satisfied. Of all the games I played on PS3 - I probably spent the most time playing Red Dead Redemption... and I never played multiplayer or Zombies, or any DLC, was all just the original Open World... which I went back in and played a lot of after finishing the story. It was truly an emersive experience. I expect the new one to be even more incredible with the advances in graphics technology, game engines, and open world design. Cannot wait. I just finished up Far Cry 5, which I managed to put about 80 hours of game time into, and that doesn't even scratch the surface of how much time I spent on the original Red Dead Redemption. I love open world games that give me the most options and play time for my money, and especially when they are tied in with a compelling story. Thanks for the history. Lynn M.

delays can only mean good things, and the only people hyping RDR2 are clickbait youtubers using false unofficial information to gain views. rockstar does something that other companies need to do. keep all their shit confidential until release date. no early access no demos no show casing gameplay. it leaves players to discover their hard work for themselves.

The OG's that love the series unconditionally will love it, as long as it comes out nothing different compared to red dead 2009. I would be happy if the game came out and was a copy and paste of red dead, but with better graphics and world. I just want a beautiful western world to explore. And knowing Take Two, and rockstar they never ever fail to dissapoint with detail. Just please keep the online simple and not ruined with all this itehr shit. But would like to see how they tackle online with red dead.

  • @LynnCindy

John Duppleinham - I'm with you on that one. I WISH PS4 had been backward compatible with my PS3 games, because I would definitely have played it on the PS4. I don't care about the Online Nonsense at all, though I know that is the "money maker" for Rockstar Games with GTA5, and I'm guessing they want to be able to do the same thing with RDR2, but PLEASE make sure the off-line story mode and open world are as awesome as the first one. They can do whatever they want with the online portion, as long as I don't HAVE to play multiplayer to succeed in, and enjoy the game. I'm sure this will be another awesome game from Take Two and Rockstar, but we are just stuck having to wait. HA!

Lest us not forget undead nightmare, such an amazing expansion, although I never liked playing it as I felt so alone in the apocalyptic wolrd. I have ALL the Red Dead Soundtracks and I listen to them quite frequently. I am not normally a "Soundtrack" type of person, but all of the music is literally classic, or instantly a modern classic. Finding the OST for the Original RDR was tough.

GUN’s story was all but brief and not only was it entertaining but it was engaging and impactful. The gunplay was great, it was gory and bloody. I loved GUN when I was a kid.

Jawf94 By "shit" I meant the gameplay feel and visuals would be frustrating to go back to, because my memories of the game were from it's peak. How many games did you play as a child, and then find out it was a huge disappointment when you went back to play it again? Sometimes it's better to remeber the good times you had instead of trying to experience them again🤷

I disagree. I actually bought a ps2 and have been using it to play older games. I bought Red Dead Revolver among other games and I played it not long ago. It's still a very fun game.

We have been slowing doing more 4K content and we recently updated our tech to help us as well. However working with 4K is very taxing so don't expect everything we do to be 4K for a long time. Also these History of videos will probably never be 4K cause it's all older games.

99% of Australians can barely stream in 1080p so we’re good here. Considering how badly the Government destroyed the potential of the National Broadband Network, we’ll be stuck with 1080p for the next 40 years.

This is my absoloute worst fear. I will say about GTAV, it did lack alot of features that San Andreas had in story mode. ALOT. By GTA4 that diversity had already become less, so to get a totally new set of side games etc in V was just another thing that made me love it less than I wanted to. Im talking Gang Turf, Destruction Stadium, 2player missions, Burgular missions, Emergency Vehicle Vigilante etc, Sea Planes, Casinos in full, (Fun) Street Races, jetpacks in free roam, Pool halls. There were alot in V hands down was still fun as ever, but alot was already gone, replaced with Tennis, Yoga, etc. Plus a shit load of hills to traverse. So much hills. Red Dead was as good as S.A. at making you feel free and able to do what you really just wanted to do in that games context, and have a kick ass story to enhance that fact. Im not dissing V but I still thought it less than S.A. for them reasons, and I would hate if I thought that about the new Red Dead but I got faith in Rockstar on this.
