Again, my theory doesn't have the strongest foundation but the drama between Eiser and Katzenberg was the start of Eisner's decline as a CEO. He was pretty good the first few years but then things got ugly at the end

Can I just say kudos for not going for easy clickbait? You could've very easily gone with a title like "DREAMWORKS SAVED PIXAR?!!" due to your theory that took up a mere few minutes of the video, but you kept things short, sweet and sincere. I admire that honesty.

I had spent my entire childhood growing up on Pixar ever since first watching _Toy Story_ on VHS, and so during my teenage years (age 13-18), 2006-2011 was a crazy period of Pixar for me in cinema (my *"Pixar Era"* as I call it), having seen _Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3,_ and _Cars 2_ in cinema. All of them were great to see with my Pops at that time. We both *_loved_*_ WALL-E, Up_ and _Toy Story 3_ when we first saw them. I'll never forget those times.

Please remember that the rise of Pixar did leave behind some casualties. Because of Pixar's success, everyone thought that 2D wasn't the way to go anymore. That's why Hotel Transylvania is CGI instead of Gennedy's usual work, which is 2D Animation. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's theatrical film may as well be a last hurrah of pure irony.

I loved Toy Story as a kid, but I kinda love and loved 2d animation a lot more. 3d animation definitely inspires me for certain things. Like I feel something that inspires me in my art is how certain -ok whatever, I’m rambling. P.S. Gendy tartakovsky is cool, and he kinda inspires me a little.

Pixar was one of the most inspiring studios in my life, and they continue to inspire me to this day. Thank you for making this video, because it is an accurate representation of the legacy that Pixar has left, reminding those who watch this video exactly how amazing, good-natured, and determined the animators and writers at Pixar were and still are. As well as the struggles that they faced to maintain their integrity and continue to push the boundaries of computer animation. We don't mind side-kicks. In fact they are often our favorite characters! It was the writing of the movie that was an issue. Yes it had potential, with the international racing idea, but in the end they struggled with the writing. Like the whole Mater 'Japanese toilet' scene...utter trash. The humor was not well written. I honestly think it was the whole agent thing that threw them off. Plus they deviated too much from Cars' original theme. They went too dark and . I personally don't mind dark themes and Pixar certainly does it well, but that's not what Cars is. But everyone has their mistakes to learn from and Cars 2 was Pixar's. Oh wait never mind. Planes was another mistake lol 😂 Pixar came through and are again creating high-quality films.

I still remember my very first time watching _Toy Story_ on the VHS when I was at least like 4/5/6 yrs old, and it was amazing to watch, and it was my first Pixar movie. I've seen _Toy Story 2_ and _3_ in cinemas, too. But I think my #1 all-time personal favorite Pixar movie possibly has to be _WALL-E,_ it was (and still is ten yrs later) an amazing sci-fi about a child-like robot falling in love, I'll still love that movie even in death. But yea, Pixar has had a very successful track record, and am now excited for the upcoming _Incredibles 2,_ took their damn time! ;D

Wow, this video was about to put tears in my eyes towards the end. This is yet another example of the never-ending battle of art vs. business, which doesn't really have to be a battle at all. The rise of such a beloved studio is an amazing story to tell, with pitfalls and quicksands at every wrong turn which makes it so exciting to watch and listen to. Thank you for making this, Saberspark. I had no idea how close Pixar was to oblivion so many times, I appreciate it even more now.

I've actually seen the Pixar documentary you mention, and I can attest that it is really good! I would also suggest another documentary to you called 'Waking Sleeping Beauty', which focuses on the Disney Animation department right before, during, and after the Disney Renaissance of the 90s, and gives a peek into the behind the scenes of Disney, the crew members working on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, etc as well as the power struggle going on between Michael Eisner, and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

A great analysis on Pixar. It reminds me of how Naughty Dog came to be a legendary developer. To put it briefly, Naughty Dog also had a rough financial start, but through Universal Studios they could work on a new project. This new ambitious project would eventually became known as Crash Bandicoot. With many technological advancements to have supperb animation on top of solid gameplay, Naughty Dog created a successful hit while taking a big risk. Later on, after creating the other two games from their contract with Universal, they were able to create Crash Team Racing, and that game was distributed as a suprise fourth and final Crash Bandicoot game that was developed by Naughty Dog. Later on, ND worked with Sony to produce another hit franchise for the PS2, Jak and Daxter. Their trend of hit games would eventually go to Uncharted and The Last of Us. I would go into great detail, but I'm trying to keep things simple for now. Naughty Dog now represents to gaming what Pixar is to animation. Even if the company hasn't produced as much different stories, ND has certainly made a mark, and helped make Sony Computer Entertainment into what it is today, which has games that still rival Nintendo.
