The History of New Line Cinema

I look at how New Line Cinema evolved from the home of Freddy Krueger to taking a risk on a beloved fantasy trilogy to being adsorbed by Warner Bros.

Great video, Stefan! You should definitely do a history of something like Regency Enterprises or even TriStar. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine films like Boogie Nights and Rush Hour being made elsewhere (especially the former).

Also, around the time that New Line was Absorbed in Warner Bros., It caused Both Picturehouse, the then-joint venture between New Line And HBO & Warner Independent Pictures to Shut Down.

I think Warner bros should’ve kept their Warner Independent Pictures label instead of closing it

@@claytoncondo3460 I know. At least PictureHouse was Revived as an Independent label Back in 2013.

New Line Cinema is here to stay! Some of their best movies are The Mask and Elf! Jim Carrey is a riot, and Elf is so cute! Keep 'em comin'!

It really makes me wanna see a Dark Castle video? Like how they started off string then fell from grace. Sometimes I felt it was New Line Cinema being stronger at horror and disagreement with Joel Silver and Warner Bros ultimately killed their deal. I heard Orphan First Kill is going to Paramount Players, and Seance was made by RLJE and Shudder. I have a feeling Shudder will get Book of Chaos. I know I don't pour money into the channels but this would be interesting like how Dark Castle could resurrect again. I almost felt they and New Line would have been great partners if Warner Bros have done something.

7:00 The Last Mimzy...wow, I haven't heard that name in years. i remember seeing that attached to a bunch of home videos as far as preview form back in the early 2000s. I think i watched it once, was sort of interesting. But I never watched it again. I remember the loose structure of the movie but couldn't tell you much about it.

I actually saw "The Last Mimzy" on an airplane back in 2007. Aside from it being about a rabbit plushie and featuring Rainn Wilson, I remember pretty much nothing about it.

yup, the Rain Wilson part and the rabbit bit i remember. I think also the kids and parents were being chased by weird grey headed aliens in suits or something. or they were trying to get Mimzy back to the grey headed aliens while running away from the government. I think what was actually going on with the grey aliens was, they're actually humans from the future. But the alien suits are actually protection gear due to hummanity getting wiped out by some freaky diseases. And they sent out Mimzys to different points in time to collect DNA samples to cure the disease in the future. But I think all the mimzys failed, with the one in the title of this movie being the last one or something. i'm probably missing a bunch of details, but i don't feel like looking up what I missed on wikipedia or watching that movie again. 😅
