Fun fact: Kings Island’s Eiffel Tower was made by Intamin. Meaning, Kings Island had a 300ft Intamin almost 3 decades before Cedar Point. And because it is an Intamin, it does have reliability issues in high wind.

I'm so proud to call Kings Island my home park!
The History of Coney Island is insane in itself, being that it’s still open to this day as a water park keeping its history alive since 1886.
I was at Kings island yesterday and today. Their 50th anniversary fireworks, drones, and light show is amazing. I love this park.
5:29 seeing that picture of racer as well as the other shots of the park and knowing what the exact same land looks like now is an unprecedentedly powerful feeling of gratitude. like, this was one of the best parks in the world when it opened, and now we have so much more than it did then. i will never understand people who knock kings island, its doing exactly what is what built to do just as well 50 years later
The best coaster video series on KZread now getting a companion piece with a new park? Yes, please.

What memories 😊 Our family went several times in the 70's. Great times 🙂
I was fortunate that my Uncle was a ride engineer in the late 70's through 80's. Myself and his daughters got to test so many rides. Like the Beast and the King Cobra.
ironically i recently got a book about the history of kings island as i visited there, well guess i get even more knowledge nuggets
I remember going to Kings Island the 1st time with my family probably in 1972. I was in love. I used ti go every year since then until I got into my 40’s. I haven’t been in 10 years but I has always been such a huge event for Ohioans. ❤. I met a cute boy there in high school but he lived too far away😢
The amount of research and hours of lost sleep should make you proud. The Magic Mountain Series was epic and this only makes me want to visit Kings Island even more. .

Thanks! Yeah the amount of time this takes from the research to the writing to finding clips is crazy so i appreciate the views
11:26 heard this and thought "wow thats a lot" and then realized that their most recent addition alone is the same price as the entire park when it opened
That ending was sick! Very intimidating and conveyed the exact emotions such a massive attraction probably did to park locals back in the 70s. Awesome first part!
As good as KI is, they have so much room for expansion! Hopefully they continue to receive love from CF.

Can’t wait to see the the rest of the series. It’s my home park and at this point second home. Glad to see it’s gonna be a multipart series instead of one episode
Like Kings Island, this began with a bang! Awesome first episode and I love that you made Coney Island such a major part of this episode and didn’t just gloss over it. I’ve heard people talk about Coney Island being a big deal back in its prime and can now understand why.

Oh man, this was on my wishlist after watching your Magic Mountain series last year and knowing this year would be KI’s 50th anniversary. Truly special and emotional for me. Growing up in southern Indiana, Kings Island was an absolute dreamland of my childhood, and now as a 39 year-old coaster enthusiast, I have a season pass and adore this place beyond words. Once you see the skyline from I-71, and especially once you pass through the turnstiles and see the glory that is International Street, it evokes a feeling of joy, nostalgia, and wonder unlike anything else in this world. I took my daughter to Winterfest as her first trip there in December, and I’m stoked to take her for her first normal park day on Saturday. Thank you so much for your hard work and effort putting this together for us!

@@AirtimeThrills Hard to remember because my parents took me there when I was a little kid. Some time in the late ‘80s when I was around 4-6. My daughter is five now. I remember Vortex being brand new and hugely popular, and it excited and terrified me in ways I can’t describe. The Racer was my first “adult” coaster, but Vortex was the one that defined my initial terror of and then subsequent excitement for coasters. Chickened out on it the first year I was tall enough to ride, then mustered up the courage the following year. I’m guessing that was ‘90-‘91, age 7-8.
I love this series.

@@AirtimeThrills I already wanted to visit KI, but your video about it being your new favorite definitely pushed me over the edge.
Oh that was such a fun and informative watch. I first went to King's Island in 1988. The Vortex was new, King Cobra only a few years old. We rode the monorail through the safari. The dark ride in Hanna-Barbera land was a Smurfs boat ride. Scooby-Doo was called The Beastie and was my first coaster. Captain Caveman was dancing and spinning in circles in front of the fountain when we entered the park. I remember the Canton Log Flume back by The Beast. The pizza was phenomenal. They still had the areas where you could drive RC cars and boats. We would go on White Water Canyon and get soaked. Subsequently, I grew up going almost every year after that. I remember when Adventure Express was first installed. I remember when Paramount bought the park and put in Days of Thunder, Top Gun and Outer Limits Flight of Fears. They had the Mirth Mobile from Wayne's World in a walkthrough exhibit. Face Off came after that. I went after my Senior Prom with my graduating class in 02' and rode Son of Beast for the first time. I went with my girlfriend at the time in 2010 and we had a blast and fell deeper in love. We now have a 4 year old and our second baby is due any day now. I'm taking my daughter to King's Island for the first time later this year and can't wait for The Beastie/Woodstock Express to be her first coaster too. I wish Phantom Theatre was still there so she could experience that, but Boo Blasters will have to do. I absolutely love King's Island it's been a staple in my life since I was 4 years old and I will be going to the park every year until the day I leave this Earth. Thank you for stirring up so many good memories Chris. I appreciate it buddy.

Kings Island may not be Cedar Point but still an important amusement park. Great Video.
The bread company I work for services Kings Island and the old Coney Island. It was interesting to go there and see where it all started and the history. I have seen the flood marker at Coney and it makes you understand why they moved.

So excited for this series!!!
Thank you so much for starting this series! I just had my first ever Kings Island trip last week where I made The Beast my 100th coaster credit! I fell in love with the park and it’s easily the best in the Cedar Fair chain, and honestly might be a top 3 for me with Islands of Adventure and Disneyland. Knowing this park had a long history before Cedar Fair and being such high quality in vibes, operations, and attractions, I have been wanting to find some content on the parks history and this seems perfect! Thank you!

this looks like the start of something amazing, can't wait to see how all 5 parts turn out!
This is freaking awesome!
I was so looking forward to seeing this series drop. Thanks for featuring King’s Island!
Thank you so much for this series. I am such an Amusement park nerd i love them! These videos have the most historical footage and pictures ive seen than the other KI history vids. My mom went to KI when she was a little girl back when Screamin Demon was brand new. She talked about the Smurfs, and hanna barbera. When i got old enough to go she took me and my step bro at the time. She talked all about it the day before we went and described and we were so amazed lol It was my first amusement park so its kinda sentimental to me if that makes sense. I was 6 or 7 when i went the first time, im almost 30 now. Ever since i have loved Amusement parks i guess some of us never grow up. Anyway thanks again for this im gonna share this with my mom she will love it too she loves history.

That's fascinating. For someone who lives in Canada. This is very interesting. When they started building Canada's Wonderland, it was nothing but farmers fields. Opened May 23rd 1981. Hearing the history of other Cedar Fair parks is interesting. You bet I will be watching this all.
