The History of Figure Skating with Scott Hamilton & Kristi Yamaguchi

Спорт

In week 2 of the Let's Talk series, Scott shares some of the history of figure skating before bringing in his dear friend, Olympic Champion Kristi Yamaguchi, for a fun conversation! Kristi is the 1992 Women's Olympic Champion. She is a 2x World Champion and 2x US National Champion as well. She was a huge draw for many years, touring with Scott on Stars on Ice. She's gone on to write several children's books and advocate for childhood literacy through her Always Dream Foundation.
This conversation was recorded on Friday, April 3rd for an audience registered through the SHARP 4 Sports elite training program, under the umbrella of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy at Ford Ice Center in Nashville, TN.
Join us for Scott's next LIVE interview with more of his amazing skating friends, every Friday, by registering at SHARP4Sports.com. 50% of the proceeds from the live attendance fees are donated to the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.

Glad I found this channel. Scott Hamilton I have missed you skating so much along with the others skating in the early ‘90s. The professional skaters were all great and were having televised competitions. I watched the Olympic eligibles too, but I always enjoyed the professionals better because it seemed that y’all enjoyed it so much. I guess being free of all the rules after all the years of grind. Anyway all of those skaters, especially you, helped me get through a very difficult time. I got very sick and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. Then you had cancer and faced it with such courage and character it helped me to keep going. I just want to say Thank You to all of you. Do you know if anyone has DVDs of that time? The last time I looked I couldn’t even find DVDs of Stars on Ice from that period. You probably won’t even see this, but I’ve been wanting to say Thank You for a long time, just writing it down helps. I got one of your books that I think was supposed to help people put everything in perspective, but I couldn’t read it (I’ve lost it since then in moves). I don’t think I could read it now, this illness that I’m still fighting has affected my mind and ability to concentrate and retain my things. As you can probably tell from this! (It started out being a note to thank you). I hope your life is filled with happiness and good health. Good Bless.

Very fun to watch and I learned a lot! Thank you! If anyone is interested, there's a good documentary on Peacock regarding the 2002 pairs scandal. It's called "Meddling: The Olympic Skating Scandal That Shocked The World".
