How did it become so famous worldwide? You'll discover this and much more in this deep analysis of the post-war political conditions wich allowed Bella Ciao to flourish.

Hello! In the video I never claimed that the song was anti-communist, quite the opposite. I'll copy & paste the answer to another comment: "The song is definitely anti-fascist. However, the video explains why its popularity is, in part, a byproduct of post-war anti-communism" May I ask where you got that idea from? Was it just the title or did you have the same impression after watching the content? It might be a problem on my part

Very informative video, even knowing some or much about this video's theme it helps clarifying the more obscure points and framing the song in it's context. Great work, of course thumbs up for the songs used in the video and on a less serious note, I'm a simple man: I hear Modena City Ramblers-I'm liking the video!

Phenomenal video, entertaining and informative. I'm not sure how to feel about the song now, on one hand I am closer politically to the Partisans than anything else and don't feel great about their ideology being erased from the story given that it was frequently communists in fascist countries who were the first to resist and frequently the first to die. On the other hand, it's a banger.

This song dates back to the early 20th century, when many women had to work for pittance for rich landowners in their rice plantations! btw, the first US foreign meddling was in Italy in 48, they were thinking that France would become a commy state too in case Italy would become a commy state!

Now then, thank you for explaining. However, isn't there another verse about the "banderra de labor" or something that is often left out but part of the song as well? Which would also make it a communist / socialist piece.

Actually the best video on this song. To think that the vast majority of people just hear this song and think "hurt durr pro communism anti fascism" when in reality it seems to have been a very deliberate move by western powers to make sure Italians were rallied against fascismo but also made sure to stay anti-communist. Incredibly similar to what Americans do to their mainstream right wing bloc by rallying around anti-fascism but without any of the communist trappings that often come with that.
