I think the mask just helps yoru breath in the other dimension. The power is his. The mask is just a tool. If the mask was the source of yoru's power he could've had to wear it all the time. This also explains why he doesn't wear it when he uses his main ability which is tp because the tp only lasts a few seconds unlike the ult which makes you go in the other dimension longer.

I have a theory, you see, the mask isn’t a gas mask, it’s just a half oni mask from his ancestor, but if it doesn’t help him breath, why would he need it? Like you said, the Rift power is just Yoru, by far none of the radiant requires an object to use their power, rather they use it to enhance it, after all they are mutants not mages. I believe the radiant powers they get from the first light event was already in their body, the first light only ignited, it could be just a design choice but, I was thinking that Jett Reyna and Phoenix had normal black hair before they became radiant. Now, back to the mask part, from Yoru’s voice line towards his ancestor, I assume his ancestor already had some sort of connection to the rift (wayyy before the first light event, which is weird but I guess the explanation could be like how radiants got their power, it was always there, the event just lighted it up) By far the only thing we know that they both had common in was the mask, so could it be that the mask was used by his ancestor so much that it also has some kind rift power? We know that his ancestor is missing, but his armors weren’t with him, could it be that without his mask, he would be lost in the rift? And so the reason Yoru wears the mask while riftwalking, is because it enhances his rift powers, connecting him with his ancestor which also keeps him from losing in the rift?

At 7:05 I don't think Yoru predicted Jett would shoot first. She *didn't* shoot first. He shot her through Phoenix and he survived because of his early ult. The line about shooting first feels a lot like a Star Wars reference to "Han shot first" and it's a very nice detail and fun to know that Phoenix knows who shot first in the movies haha

4:38 so actually that’s more a ninjas way of fighting. A samurai would directly challenge opponents to an honorable duel that follows many different Japanese dueling etiquettes. Take it from a Japanese guy, trust me I know.

yoru's ancestor is actually yoru from the future who travelled to the past and then left his mask, and now there is this loop where yoru gets the mask, grow up old, travels back in time, and then leave the mask in icebox, kingdom finds it, and yoru goes to get it and the loop continues interesting theory :D

Samurai face their enemies head on and reveal themselves without surprise and kill their enemies with honor, ninjas cower in the dark waiting for the best time to strike and kill without honor. I just felt to add that correction there for people who got confused.

They where employed as such, yes. They also avoided direct combat as much as posible since they whore little to no armour for stealth reasons, they knew how to fight with or without a weapon, but diversion, smokebombs and any other tool to avoid a direct fight where used more often.

The "Unmasked Lineage player card has a ship in the front of it, which I think Yoru's samurai ancestors were on, because on icebox, to the far right of defender spawn off the map you can see a crashed ship exactly like the one on the card.

Wow I feel so bad for thinking Yoru was kinda lame for so long 😩he’s actually really cool!

I don't think the mirror earth Viper, Cypher and Jett are dead cause sage could find there bodies and revive them as one voice line from cypher goes something like. The only way to keep them dead is to kill their sage.

Alright so first off: I think Yoru acts more like a ninja than a samurai from scant info I have on the 2 warrior types. His ancestor may have been a samurai, but his stealthy approach to combat and use of tricks with his powers makes him fit the ninja trope to a tee. Now, here's a theory: Radiants have to be exposed to a large amount of radianite to get their powers to manifest, right? The Kingdom, as a company that does a lot of research on top of its main product of radianite, would set up their larger facilities around places heavy with the stuff or that were significantly affected by the First Light. My theory is that Yoru, while he and his family lived near Split, had a house that included his ancestor's samurai armor as an heirloom or a relic of ancestor worship. During the first light, perhaps a large amount of radianite got dropped into Japan, and affected Yoru, as well as objects in his house such as the armor. Yoru, perhaps while asking for guidance or counsel from his ancestor, would have seen the effect of the radianite on the armor. After being either evacuated from the area or after the Kingdom strongarms their way into taking over Yoru's family home, he finds the armor is gone and he decides to use his powers to get back the armor (or at least the mask he ends up with) because he saw for himself that it was changed like he was. I wonder if Yoru used his powers to further change the mask though? It looks so radically different from the armor it came from that he had to have either painted it or used his power somehow to make it match his style. I wonder if we'll get a deeper backstory cinematic about Yoru to tell us how he got and developed his powers and explain why the Kingdom presence in Japan is so detested in the area. It would make sense if they're seen as thieves because not only do they suck up resources in the local community, but they also would have literally stolen objects and people for their research into radianite, believing themselves untouchable. At least, until Yoru has his eye on what belongs to him.

A theory I have is that the ship stuck in the mask in icebox is the ship that was carrying the armour and mask of yoru's ancestors and is also the one featured in yoru's playercard

When I first played Yoru and there was one round where we won and Yoru just went "How did every piece of trash end up on the same team?" Me and my friends immediately started laughing.

The boat at the end of the cinematic looks a lot like the one from the player card.

id say yoru's more of a shinobi than a samurai, considering all his stealth kills, and sneaking around

My Theory is That the Dead " Enemy Jett, Viper, and Cypher" had been resurrected by their Enemy Sage. Cause they are needed for Missions to plant spikes? there is also a voice line in sage once resurrected by someone. (Your Duty is not Over!) This highly made me think that their duty isn't always over.

The stolen samurai mask is indeed yoru’s mask. I believe that he thinks his ancestors have some power and he will be the descendants of it. He was already the chosen one from the start but the first light helped him unleash his power. The mask probably helps him on travelling and shit. Also, on the start of defender side icebox it also says “intruder alert” which indicates someone has intruded the area which was..Yoru. We know that yoru has brass knuckles or maybe some physical power behind rift walking to be able to destroy the glass because kingdom will definitely secure the armour. There is also a white bean coming out of it if it which can show a power drain or gain? Also, his glove or his mask could probably he his power source of radianite just like Phoenix’s is his ring and skye idk omen is his soul, Reyna is her heart, sage is her ring and Jett could be her arms? I don’t think yoru hair was always blue and black and so I think he got a new hairstyle when the first light came. Btw he has some samurai should armour on his suit and some weird symbols. It could be that he stole samurai armour as well and painted it to fit his aesthetic.

Also jeppy phoeNix already uses his ult in the start where he says "lemme show you how the boss does it"

I have a theory about yorus ult. You know when we enter the rift or use his ult he says his voiceline "ill have the rest (or something i dont know what that word is)" theres a slight whisper. I found that on youtube it sounded like "im not dead" and the other one i dont remember. So my theory is yoru's ult hhas a timer because the mask can only warp the time and dimension around us for so long. So the maximum time is the time we can stay in the ult in the game.so if we stay any longer the ult cancels on its own but yoru or the user gets stuck but the mask falls out of the "blue dimension" so i think thats what happened to the ancestor like he knew this would happen but expirimented to gain more power anyway. So that would mean the ancestor is stuck in the ult.

7:13 pheonix didnt activate his ultimate right then, but right after yoru tells him not to engage viper and jett, thats why he teleported back to the place he was at the start of the cinematic.

Agents getting killed in the cinematics just means Sage is gonna have some work to do in between meditation sessions

Mirror Viper Jett and Cypher are not dead. The other mirrors could recover their bodies and bring them to sage. i think this is why sage is not in any of the cinematic videos, because she is too important to either team to lose so they never send her out on missions

Mirror earth sage probably revived them all since we see Viper again in "Shattered" my theory for why sage revived them all is not that she wanted to it was she was forced to as in KAY/O voice line it says "Sage in my world you weren't a medic you were a weapon" or something like that thus meaning she was forced in some sort of way probably someone close to her has been held hostage or other reasons liek threat

If im not wrong the ferro fluid is used to cut between dimensions or something (don't know how that works) so considering the rift is made of ferro fluid then Ferro fluid is dangerous if it enters ur airway I think. So the mask protects him somehow. But then when he tps it is just a short time so he can hold his breath when he tps. That's my take.

He might be a ONI which would explain the rift walking and Japanese samurai when fighting a ONI would take over the body of the samurai and if the samurai excepts the soul of the ONI into them then they can get the power of the ONI if their will is strong and keep the ONI in it without having the ONI control them

Right so i think brimstone went ahead in time and fought reyna with kay/o (brimstone dies) the reason why reyna is here at this time is because she ate so many souls she physically couldn't age after she dies hes brought back in time to help with the former wars this explains why kay/o calls reyna a queen and why he says i wont lose you again

I don't think anyone dies if they are on the attacking team because it's a mirror earth the only way for this to stop is for everyone on the defending side to die cuz it's a "mirror" earth so unless the defending team is alive so is the attacking because they are both the exact same, does that make sense? idk if that makes sense.

in icebox on defenders side you can find yoru's card and it has yoru's name on it

Good vid, however Yoru does not abide by a code of honor like a samurai as killing the enemy without them knowing i.e. a sneak attack would be considered dis-honorable in a samurai honor code.
