The Highly Sensitive High Sensation Seeker - Understanding Over vs Under Stimulation. When do you need to step back from to many stimulation's as a Highly Sensitive Person or need to find NEW stimulation's as a High Sensation Seeker?

As a Highly sensitive person you can definitely participate in social extroverted activities but only until you start to feel drained and exhausted. Then you know you received to many stimulation's and now it's time to take a few steps back in order to recharge. This also depend if you are a introvert or extrovert.
If you are aware of this type of sensitivity and you have mastered it. Meaning knowing very well what drains you or recharges you, you can then start to explore your true gifts as a highly sensitive. Unfortunately many high sensitives are not even aware of this just yet.
So when you are also a High Sensation Seeker you might get under-stimulated very quickly. Meaning you are constantly looking for new kind of exciting experiences. That also mean is that you get bored very quickly with mundane repetitive tasks. And sometimes you just want to force yourself in a very impulse way out of certain type of mundane routines in order to get your rush.
You are willing to take unnecessary risks or do whatever it takes in to meet your impulses. This sounds great and very adventurous when you are young and have little responsibilities. But when you are settling down and are in a relationship you can't do this as often as you would like.

I just recently found out that i'm HSS and also HSP an so many things in my life suddenly made sense. Like that i was into competitive sports at young age for the thrill, that i broke a lot of bones because i took high risks as a teen. Or that i love to explore new areas or jobs but at the same time i'm looking for structure and persons in my life that give me a feeling of steadyness. The thing you said about the atmosphere at home, which makes it hard to get things done is also true for me, but i think it is as well because of having an idea is the fun part for me, the rest can sometimes be cruel and also boring. For me the hardest thing to deal with is getting sort of a basic trust for the future because i know on one side that i would like to have a family that gives me this feeling of comfort and love that i really need to regain energy but on the other side i know that i want to eperience so many new things, feel the urge to change, be impulsive and refraim myself because without this freedom it feels like wasting my life.

Me too. I am shy and get tired easily, but I am constatly doing stuff like running a marathon and am really ambitious. I am both HSP and HSS. This combination does not work well together like Jean said. I think it has to do with self-criticisms and perfectionism. I always do activities but while doing them I focus on how things should go and how things should have gone instead of just focusing on positivethings and enjoying. Sensitive people tend to have temper and they focus on negativity too much. I'm going to try to have a more positive view of myself and the world and ditch by HSP traits.

@@sungji2318 I think it has more to do with self acceptance and nurturing our gifts. Don't you agree?

@@Germanic-Wellness Hey Thanks for your comment. I really loved this video. For me at least id rather change myself to move away from being HSP rather than accept the way I currently am. For me HSP has a lot in common with perfectionism. My perfectionism and low self-assurance drives me to become sensitive. It really hindered me a lot in my profession which is in finance. My boss tells me my work quality is superb but my work speed is super slow. I am so slow because i cannot get past every little imperfection in my report that i write because those imperfections feel too strong. I write reports like masterpieces.. which means i sacrifice too much time. HSP may be a great quality for some people. They may be a great arist, a great accountant/auditor/researcher/mathematician, but not a great trait in my profession. HSP may not be a bad quality for all but if you ask me, i would like to become bolder and be numb to little imperfections.

@@Germanic-Wellness I feel like I’m two different people sometimes. And now I know why. I just hope I can control the HSS. So glad I know now. Great channel by the way!! I hope it gets more traction - it’s important for men to have a place to go for help and support.

I watched your video. I myself are both hsp/HSS. I am not into jumping out of airplanes but like novelty exploring and getting out of the house. Since I can’t play sports anymore, I’m lost as to what to do on a Friday /Saturday night after working my office job and can’t come up with any ideas. Ok like to have a conversation and ask if you’d be interested. In sharing ideas thanks!
