I agree completely with what he's saying - after discovering Brian Wilson most pop music production sounds so one dimensional and particularly 90s production has no more than 6 tracks of isolated instrumentation usually just handed to somebody else to produce - total disregard for artistry and it means everybody pretty much had the same sound - yet at the same time when I listen to albums like Hawaii I just think "SMiLE tribute act" or "this was already done way back in 1966 when it was much harder to produce such material" - I'm conflicted in my opinion on The High Llamas essentially, but damn the records do sound really REALLY good
