Hello, this device literally charmed me, now I have a Teufel Conector2 at home, but since I'm a poor Czech, I'll keep the two as well. Converting the USD/CZK exchange rate, I would earn 15 months on the Rose RS250 and I wouldn't be allowed to eat, drink, pay rent and utilities 🤣 but I believe it plays great 👍 Nice day 🙂 Tom

I've had one for about 4 months now and I can honestly say that it's a game changer I use it as a preamp as well as a streamer and DAC. My only criticism is the lack of uPnP. I have a lot of music on my PC served via a mediamonkey server. I can't use that now. The sdd hard drive doesn't give the ability to search via album artist like a server would do. Rose said they might include it one day.

@@ListenUp How do you use this as a preamp? I'm not familiar with musical terms. I have an rs250 too. Are you connecting the turntable to this device before the integrated amp? How do I use it as a preamp? Can you describe it please?

@@Erk88888 Plug your phono preamp or analogue CD player etc in to the analogue in RCAs on the rear of the RS250. On the app or front screen, set you input to analogue in R and L. It should then send everything from that source to the amplifier. Because of this you no longer need a preamp section in your integrated. If it has the facility, you can bypass the amplifier preamp and use just the power amp section. The Rose will then do the preamp duties.

How is the Dac performance in the 250? Does it compete standalone Dac in the 1500 price range ?

Whats the differnce (dacs) of this unit and the 201E with build in Amp?

Both have ESS Tech DACs (great sounding DACs) but the 250s is a bit higher performance-ESS ES9028

Game Changer needs to be expunged from the lexicon.

I have a suspicion that may need to be corrected: the HiFi Rose RS250 is much more about the unit's undoubtedly excellent interface and Rose Tube while not as much about great audiophile kind of music as Denafrips' and Mola Molas of this hobby are. Besides, is the device interface relevant these days that much while we can "drive" our streamers' software from the convenience of our phones, tablets, or laptops? Great introduction, still! Thank you!

Thanks for the comment. The 250 does have a solid performing ESS DAC-ES9038. And low-noise linear power supply, so the overall sound quality is quite good. As for interface, you have album art and in-depth artist info that is more comprehensive that what you see from streaming services on your phone or tablet. Plus, with HDMI out to TV you can see all that great info on the big screen. Also, the UV meters are a cool feature to engage with when listening to music. Overall, sometimes it's nice to have the option to put down your devices and be fully engaged with your system.

Can you control the screen (VUmeters etc) from the app?

Yes, all streamer functions can be controlled using the app as well as the streamer display itself.

There's a screen you show at the beginning with sliders and knobs. No rs250 has that screen. Ive asked around on the forums and FB. Nobody else has it. Where can you find it?

What a Con Game - the Cost of Streamers. MY Bravia 4k Smart TV PLUS Marantz 7.2 A/V, PLUS SONY Blue Ray Player & Streamer PLUS my 2 Main Klipsch Speakers COST THE SAME AS A SINGLE ROSE 250 Streamer. .

I own the RS250 and I am actually very disappointed. While the audio is fantastic in my opinion, the software is terrible, and they seem to be unable to fix the numerous bugs. Worst is that it cannot play video files from its own ssd drive without the video stuttering and freezing, which of course ruins all experience. KZread works ok, but I prefer to play my own video music collections.
