This is why I keep watching your videos, so different and unique. When was the last time some of the other creators in this genre dress up as and roll played a hobo...… Enough with the backyard batoners! Great vid man, keep em coming!

When I was homeless, I learned from other homeless people how to survive without stealing or begging on a corner. I do not criticize or condemn those who do have to beg. A good part of urban survival is being invisible. If SHTF happens, and you find yourself "unskilled," find someone homeless and pay them (money, food, shelter) to teach you. For water jugs, I saved gatorade and powerade 1 qt bottles and filled them in bathrooms. I never gave a darn who saw me- no one said anything.

Hint: charge your cell phone at a local library. You don't need a card to go inside, take a book and sit down near an outlet.

You only missed one detail. A cardboard sign that says "will Bushcraft for food"! Lol. City bushcraft is sooo forgotten in most scenarios for survival. Good jo!
That water key information is worth the entire video!!! Outstanding review of the kit and watched it twice. Although a hobo hear in the East is more prone to rail yards and back ways along the tracks and outskirts of small towns. I live near a "Hobo" village located across the mill property about a mile down the rail line. Usually approximately 30 to 40 hobos and sometimes bums can be found around there. The bums can be dangerous but the guys who call themselves hobo are alright . You can hire them out for day work for fifty and a meal and they will work their tails off. Bums won't work at all.

@@HoboRoadrunner yes ,I know sometimes those who wander are not lost . When I was very young I had a relative ( we called him uncle Jack) he was the son of my great grandmother's stepsister ( long story) . But he lived a hobo style life . He would hop a train and go to places all over the US . He even visited Canada and Mexico . He once was gone for two years and everyone thought he had died or been killed but he showed up with small gifts from Colombia. He would do odjobs around the village like painting houses and I would tag along behind him and listen to some stories he would tell . So he passed some knowledge of the hobo way. He told me of signs and markings but that's been over forty years ago. He lived till he was in his late seventies. The last time he disappeared was about the time I went into high school. When he came back he was very sick and he stayed up with his sister's house and family till he passed.

Charles Murphy Sillcock key 👍
A lot more people live in the cities than the country, and you need a kit like this to get out of town, or to hide out in town. Thank you for showing us your ideas on what might go into an urban kit, James
This was an EXCELLENT video. The intro was incredible! Top notch work brother!
Bushcraft docudrama! Sic for sure!
I just bought a silock key recently. Since I got it, I’m looking at buildings in a whole new way!
I have a foraging bag too! Its made out of two towels sewn together so it doubles as a towel. It has a strip on it for running a belt through and my kit goes INTO the foraging bag which then folds in half. It rides on my belt like a dream although it looks like a 9 months pregnant sweet potato. It weighs just under a kilogram.
That has to be the wealthiest Hobo I have ever seen!
I was homeless for a while, everything you own is a wear it or carry it thing. This kit would be great if you could hide it somewhere in case you lost everything else for some reason.
James, thank you so much. I love this stuff and your channel is one of the best. I like to “hobocation” and do regularly. I travel by bus, anywhere I want to go, Urban or not and hang out for weeks. Thanks for your wonderful channel. I’ll definitely be trying and I’m sure buying this pack! I have traveled every kind of way EXCEPT nomadically and I meet more people and have more fun this way than ever. When I start to feel like I’m becoming feral, I’ll check in a nice little motel. Recoup, make a plan and then head out to another place.😊 Happy Friday travels my friend. Oh, I’m 57😂.
Mine is an old 3-compartment red cosmetic bag. Two zippered compartments and in the middle one flat with loopy thingies. Works like a bomb. I made a few mods. The whole thing took me about 6 weeks to fully get together. Designed, redesigned, put things in, took things out, reorganised things. Currently holds about 190 items...
I know its been 5 yrs since you filmed this but once again your videos are outstanding. You should get an Oscar for how you rolled in the credits in the first few minutes.
Good job, I love how it looked like a movie.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Stay blessed!
That was an awesome urban Survival skit. I love the look of that Survival kit man it sure fits alot I like the versatility of it from a Survival kit to a fire kit , I think I would maybe use it as a first Aid kit .
What a great imagination you have, James. Wonderfully done video and review with a impressively thought out survival pack by you and super items by Malcolm to put them in.
Again...may I add....learn skills and how to deal with adversity. The kit may be lost, or damaged. Make the situation work. People loose their heads and make bad decisions....me included. This is a great episode JF!
I downloaded this video 2 yrs ago and I still watch it periodically. I really enjoy your opening sequence! The gear review is excellent for what seems to be an excellent piece of gear! Keep up the good work, James! This is Jan,02,202, so hoping for a better year ahead!

Realistic & fantastic! This is what I'm looking for! No BS!
I really loved this one. The opening story was awesome. Great job. I liked seeing the text on that metal box, then again on the piece of cardboard. You guys make such an outstanding artistic team. It really shows through in your vids.

Awesome video and yes Malcom makes great stuff!
Really nice review. Malcolm is an awesome guy and his stuff is top notch. I think this small pack is the height of his current design.
Very fun and great video! Nice change of pace!
That's a perfect size bag for just about everything except long term outings. I need a scout pack first then I'll get one of those.
Cool video! Love the format. Keep up the great work!
Of all the books I've read and videos I've watched , this maybe one of the best for urban survival. Also this is the first video of yours I've seen and will not be the last.
GREAT vid, and review. Looks awesome!
This is exactly what urban survival in Indonesia what I'm thinking of. Not some wild and bush craft survival. Cuz this kind of survival is prone to our country, and I can't find something like this in KZread. Thanks for making this video. Keep making great video. I hope more of something like this in the future.

be sure to check out our review we did last week on the hidden woodsmen m44 haversack!
It should go without saying, waring cargo pants, with much of your stuff in them, is better than having a exposed pack, while being a " gray man". Even so a small kit bag or small day pack, bed roll and a few other exposed carry thing is a huge help. This is a nice compact kit, Making it look a bit worn would be nice too. I find that I learn more new stuff, when watching someone who knows his stuff. Here I learned about the little water wrench and water access points. Thanks James ;-)
Another great video. The scenarios you come up with are what sets you apart. God Bless.

excellent intro to the video and what to carry in an urban setting (maybe add a few band aids and alcohol wipes for first aid) and the hidden woodsman bag is well thought out for storage, and I see your wearing your favorite bushcraft shirt
really respect the cinematic touches, solid filmmaking man
Nice little bag. Like the blaze orange on the inside. Enjoyed the beginning of the video too.
Nice and extremely well made.

good job sir i would use that as a everyday man purse to carry in the truck lol
Fun skit! I improvised a daypack once with a nylon grocery sack and paracord. I recommend using more cordage to fold it for at least 3 or 4 strands and that will tame the strain from weight on a single strand!!! Thanks for the fun!

job! Need to add a "Hobo trail sign guide"! I did spend some time on that trail..hobo communication is markings, signs and hand draw pics and messages to identify important terrains, water supplies, food sources and safe sleep ravines etc. Think it over..

Nicely done. Very complete, and easy to carry. I would probably replace the fire starter tin with a small first aid kit. All very good choices. Very few people include the Sillcock (water) key.
