  • @billybattyboyjunior69
    @billybattyboyjunior696 ай бұрын

    This video got me into bushcraft and camping. I was into tactical stuff but wasn't a fan of being in the woods for that long. After going through some shit and feeling alone being in nature became more and more appealing. I had a bunch of edc stuff in a crappy assault bag which almost none of it was helpful to me for camping. I stumbled upon this video and not only did it help with figuring out what I needed to get but it also got me interested in sleeping outside. I started watching bushcraft and backpacking videos religiously and I've worked my way into getting better and better gear. Sometimes I wish I can go back to having cheaper stuff as there's a certain charm to it, but I love my stuff from Finland way too much. I give this video nearly all the credit for activating the urge in me to be outdoors and I cannot be thankful enough for that. If I didn't have camping in my life it would be 100% more boring, tedious, and isolated. It's the one place I can go and escape the negative thoughts and feelings of day to day life. Alfie hasn't posted in years and there are other channels with way more information, but he was my first and I'll always be appreciative of that.

    A person should keep Purell sanitizer on hand for many reasons. 1. To clean your hands with before eating any food. 2. You can squeeze some Purell on a rock and light it on fire and then finding something like dry leaves or dry wood to burn to put on top of the burning Purell sanitizer that is on the rock burning. 3. You can use Purell to sanitize other things like a knife, spoon, fork and so on.

    If you are looking for pure calories with lots of fat, protein, and carbs; you can't beat peanut butter imo. A jar of peanut butter the size of your pack of food would probably be about 10,000 calories. A small jar of PB has around 2500-3000 calories and is tiny compared to your pack of food. A large jar usually has around 7k calories and is still smaller than your pack. Plus, it's convenient since it has a twist top for resealing and it's perfectly cyclinder. Anyway, just my personal pro tip.

    I would like to have the Peanut containers here, much lighter and easier to carry than the plastic containers for Jiffy. I was thinking of using the icing spreaders for cakes to put my peanut butter in, but if I can find these containers I use them. My favorite Chocolate Peanut butter is Reese's Spread, very tasty. A very good video and gave me good ideas as to how to fill up my modified Italian Ruk sack.

    Those Mylar sheets are meant for shock/hypothermia cases and are good for a couple of hours until medical rescue arrive - if they can however, to use one inside a sleeping bag for more than a couple of hours is going to get one into a whole lot of sweaty moisture and condensation which when cools down - guess where you are!! Cut off any and all unused Molly webbing and straps, cut more weight by upgrading both knives to smaller, more expensive ones. Find a smaller, lighter radio/flashlight/battery/GPS combo. Buy a lighter weight tripod. Cut out any unused pockets in the pack. Trim down to 3 prusset/prussick (however you spell it) knots on your ridgeline (as per Corporal Kelly teaches on corporals corner). Change out your fancy, yet asthetic, metal medical kit for a lighter, polyester pouch. Utilize small plastic bottles for your pill packs and plethora of antiseptics. Use titanium stakes instead of steel. Replace steel carabiners with titanium ones. Trim redundancies to a minimum.
