Hey, I've looked at the code for Yoshi's shield while trying to move parrying from shield release to shield startup. The exact reason the shield graphic shows up in that situation is what you said, he blocked a move that is unparryable during the parry window. The game has unique implementations of the Shielding states for Yoshi that keep the shield size the same (so the shield bubble detection box stays the same size), so that the shield graphic doesn't spawn, etc. However, when transitioning from Shield Release to Shield Damage, if the transition was not caused by a parry, it will forcefully spawn in the shield graphic, which was to catch this specific case of making sure shield was visible for every fighter... ... however, they forgot to cull that shield graphic spawn for Yoshi, and this is the only situation where this can happen, so yeah this one's truly a one-in-a-million discovery. That said if Parry was moved out of shield release (like in critically acclaimed Smash Ultimate mod The WuBor Patch), this wouldn't happen ever.

About steve's anvil delay glitch: the anvil throw DOES have a delay, but a different delay and because the throw was interrupted by anvil, the anvil was spawned, but never had the extra delay, making the game think that next time you use the anvil within hold distance (from grab) you are using down throw, making it have a delay plus the normal delay.

9:14 Not sure if this is a factor, but maybe where you fall on the trampoline affects the glitch? I bring this up because normally, the fighters aren’t that much smaller than the trampoline, and maybe something about the way the game registers collision with the trampoline leaves small gaps in some places that certain characters can slip through when shrunk.

Im thinking it may be more dependant on speed? Since usually fall speed>>jump speed so maybe they coded it in a way that checks speed and if the speed is low enough it passes thru but idk

The Pacman Trampoline thing is probably related to the contact area below the character's feet when they jump. It's used for things like hopping off of stationary Green Shells or deciding whether or not a footstool should occur. You can view this contact area with the SSBM Debug Mode. That area moves around a lot during animations. Mr. Game & Watch's non-fluid animations could feasibly shuffle the contact area around in a way that clips past the Trampoline.

I want to see the 3+ hours of failing to get a 9 for all these clips. Worth it every time. As for my favorite/objectively the best color, I’d probably say deep sky blue (hex color #29C5F6) it already has a nice chill vibe going on its own but it also matches great with anything black and/or white to a staggeringly gorgeous result

The anvil delay is probably to do with the pause for impact the game does on big hits. Especially since the anvil stops for longer when hit harder. Instead of being applied when the anvil is falling, the anvil instead stops for a moment when next spawned it. It also probably checks to see that it's actually next to someone, which would be why it only works super close to hittable objects

Yoshi is the only character in the game to have an extra frame of vulnerability before the shield is active. It makes his parry harder to execute on reaction. But also there's a lot of animation going on that's just visual, but he does in fact pull up the shield on the tapping. The shield only becomes active upon receiving a hit.

I wonder if the failed block place indicator shows up where Steve would be next frame based on his velocity, which is why it shows up offset, why it is closer to him when used a second time, and also why it’s in the direction the knockback would have gone

Did you happen to notice that the characters you were able to get to go through the spring were small characters? Like, Jigglypuff is actually quite big, and doesn't go through it, but the other characters aren't. I guess Sheik is somewhat of an outlier in that regard though.

The burping is likely it's air sac emptying. The air sac is the predecessor to the lungs, and it's found in fish that have fresh water ancestry. it's typically used for buoyancy.

For the G&W up air fact, I can probably explain what's going on. Almost every reflect in the game has internal perameters that multiples reflected projectile's max lifespan and travel speed, and those two parameters are usually set to increase both the speed and lifespan (most likely to increase the chance of the projectile making it back to the attacker). And those multipliers stack with each reflect. Additionally, most projectiles in the game have the timer for their lifespan reset when they are reflected (again likely so they can be returned to the attacker) G&W's up air is unique in that it seems to be coded to always travel at a set speed due to its special animation. However, it's still affected by the speed multiplier in reflects. While it doesn't increase in speed, it does increase how far it goes. I believe that the projectile is simply traveling as far as it otherwise would if it's speed wasn't locked. That or it's programmed to apply the reflect speed multiplier to its lifespan instead.

I think it works like that because the game is constantly trying to calculate where steve is trying to go, to more accurately place blocks due to the high knockback and speed of the launch. The game beileves steve is flying through the air, when he is in fact, stuck between a couple blocks and a hard place.

Haven't looked it up, but this shader may be what's applied to all characters on the Duck Hunt stage to make them flat as well.
