The Hidden gem of the North Caucasus : Karachay-Cherkess republic

I've got a unique opportunity to live inside of the Teberdinsky National Park with rangers of the reserve, and to visit off-the-beaten path places of the park. The park is located near Teberda town in Karachay-Cherkessia. It's a republic in the north of the Caucasus mountains in Russia that is a real heaven for lovers of hiking and mountains. I tried to show you the atmosphere in the park through my walk to one of the most scenic places. Join my hike with this video :)

I saw pictures of the current Sami people and I knew, of course, what I would see, the indigenous people of Europe in a European boat, but when I entered one of the old pictures, I saw what shocked me and made me think: Are the Sami really of European race or an Asian from Siberia? Oredoki. If you look at pictures of the Sami people, especially the old ones, perhaps you will be shocked by what you will see.

10:04 You can tell from the lines scraped high up on the mountain that the glaciers (with their moving scraping till) used to be enormous in prior Ice Age times a few thousand years ago. At 11:33 the sharp upthrust angles are evidence these mountains are young in geological terms, in that they haven't had time to be eroded down yet. In North America, sharp young peaks can be seen in the northern Rockies in Canada, but as you get further and further south in the United States the mountains are more eroded over millions of years until they disappear in New Mexico. The Appalachians are over a billion years old and so have no high sharp peaks left at all.

@@Jesina_back_from_Redchina How about some facts, instead of Russian propaganda? How about Putin starting the war? How about Russian soldiers showing what they are by raping, torturing and executing people in Bucha village? Unfortunately for you, who support them, they left evidence. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucha_massacre You are no better than ISIS, North-Korea, Iran or Syria, that you most likely support too. Think (I am not sure you will), could the information you got from 2014 come from Russian sources? Could the information be one sided or at times twisted, or at times totally made up? Let´s check a few claims made: * "The US has SEVERAL secret bio weapons labs in Ukraine". The Russian who showed it showed labs ALSO in the east... now Russia has occupied those regions, but no bio labs found???? * "US (NATO) will attack Russia through Ukraine" (then start a full scale war)... Ok, if that was true, why haven´t NATO started the attack in the last ~16 months?? Why would NATO want to attack Russia, and even if they did, why would a block, some 15-20 times stronger than Ukraine need Ukraine in the first place? * Russian state media: "UK citizens eat squirrels because they are out of food". - Haven´t checked if this is true! 😂😂😂 * Ukrainian are Nazis... 1) The president is a Jew! 2) In the last elections - well let´s first give details. A party called SVOBODA is not a Nazi party, "Although Tyahnybok expelled neofascist groups, Svoboda never abandoned ethnic ultranationalist views." but it gathers ALL kind of groups from the right (nationalists, right wing populists, Anti-communists....) However if I was a Nazi, and there was no party to vote for SVOBODA would be closest to my views. In 2010 elections, Svoboda got 5% of vottres, in 2012 it got 10%, 214 they got 4,7%, and in 2019 - 2,15%. *** Of SVOBODA voters only a small part would identify as Nazis. * Well WHATABOUTISM! What about Azov battalion? Some leaders in Azov battalion have been Nazis, but Azov is a nationalist battalion that accepts Nazis. According to the leader in an interview some 15% of the members would identify as Nazis. So how big was Azov? It has had between 300 and 2000 members between 2014-2022. 🤣🤣🤣 Russian media showed a shopping mall with a Nazi sign projected on the floor... and claimed it was evidence of Nazism in Ukraine. Fact check... the shopping mall was contacted, and responded that the computer showing images on the floor had been hacked, and after the mall received information of the hack, they shut down the projector. * Russian media is reliable 😂😂😂 * Russian media show 3 Ukrainian soldiers with some Nazi related logo on their helmet... Look - Ukrainians are Nazis... the problem was that the original photo could be found in Ukraine, and that WITHOUT any logo... Russian media had added the logo there 😅😅😅 Now, live in your "North-Korean" style Russia, led by a dictator, and believe all the crap that they present to you. BYE! 🤩

Eli❤this is a masterpiece; no waffling chatter or excessive dialogue, you’ve allowed the tranquility of the ambience, the visuals and the calm background music to speak for themselves, better than any narrator could. I had a horrible day yesterday and this has calmed me more than I can explain. God bless you dear girl. Matthew ❤❤

Ms. Eli, I recently discovered your video clips, initially, the Yakutia segments two weeks ago and have periodically watched your content. It has been an amazing journey through your eyes of a Russia many in western culture have not seen until now. I am a big supporter and outdoor enthusiasts of our national park system here in America. This particular national parks video that you feature here has made me marvel at your country. The video tells a story, is visually captivating and has relaxing soundtracks. Keep up the awesome video graphs. You have really good productions now. Your new friend in America. Rod

Absolutely fabulous presentation of the stunning natural beauty of the Caucasus. I also have been following your excellent channel for quite some time now including to my country, Australia, and as a Dutch Australian who has spent a couple of decades travelling around the world in the 70's and 80's (when there was no internet and mobile phones etc) it is indeed a pleasure to watch your content, particularly what you show throughout the country of Russia and especially so at this difficult moment in time in this region. You show another side of Russia which is more sane and peaceful and beautiful. As a person now in his 70's I appreciate your work in showing this region to those who are interested to know. Well done.

This is a beautifully composed poem to the grand creation offered to those who have integrated into the spirit of Nature. It is a testimony to Eli´s sensitivity and generosity for sharing the adventure of life. The true preservation efforts by many conscious people are apparent in these sights as testimony of balance between beings. Predatory visitors and "tourism" is rightfully banned from this paradise.

I watched this video with great pleasure. This national park is really a hidden gem with its huge mountains and valleys from which fresh streams descend and form these marvellous little lakes.! Unfortunately, climate change is causing the retreat of glaciers as well as in the Alps and this is the biggest problem. Great video Eli, as usual and thank you very much.

This was a beatiful video Eli and as well educational. Was it hard to leave that piece of paradise? I am glad this park is very protected. You went to Mt. Everest, and you saw first hand the thick of tourism and how it can effect the environment.~ You are beatiful inside and out with the yearning for travel and that is such a blessing you are able to do this. ~ Have a blessed day~
