Just like Congo (literally the richest country on Earth in terms of resources) and the rest of Franco countries are fucked for life by France and the EU, UN, UNHCR. I wish Gen Z would know that Ruto is fucked up just like his predecessors. They should continue with the energy but just direct it to the right problem.
We have brilliant people in this country but we end up choosing fools

@@sheilamaranguI don't really think it's anything to do with tribal thing since all these brilliant minds comes from "our" respective tribes
Here is Africa's problem - We seem to have ignorant people in Authority, people without leadership sitting in decision making spaces and bringing heavy consequences on generations to come!!!!! Just because one is in a position of authority doesn't make you a leader. Leaders are backed by knowledge and wisdom and never by positions of authority. Presidents should listen to the true leaders on the continent. This gentleman is a leader in this space!
The most important thing is accountability. That's why protests are gaining ground.
Weeh leo nimeelewa vitu kweli. As a Gen Z I am ashamed I didn't seek out this information sooner. Thank you Dr. Kingori and Mr. Ed Thiong'o
This is the first sober conversation I have had. The guest was impartial and educative. As Kenyans, we need to get to understand the whole budgeting process. All punitive suggestions begin somewhere and that is where we should hold our MPs accountable before the budget estimates metamorphosize into the politically voted and motivated financial bills.
We need people like you in leadership
Very sober to acknowledge that there is a bigger thing to look for. We started loosing it when we ddnt question the 4 trillion expenditure
Everything is about accountability which we totally lack.We borrow from IMF but fail to account for the funds because of corruption.Just like borrowing a loan from a bank or a Sacco and you consume it for your household. This is so clear now. Thanks Dr.Kingori and our financial Expert.Very informative.
Love the conversation. Urge people we have access to information learn how to use to our benefit and let's act out of being informed "not opinions but facts". Kenya is ours and sweet home. Lets work to make kenya work and always know our "morality" plays a big role to success of kenya
This civic education is timely. Thanks to Dr Kingori and Ed.
Thank you for opening our eyes on how the government collects money from us. He makes David Ndii look like a kindergarten kid.
Nice and very educative conversation. Shout to Edwin Githinji he was my classmate and football team mate back in high school. A very talented guy!
Well spoken Ed! Kudos for breaking it down in a very logical way. Key takeaway…Our way out of this situation is fixing our balance of trade…Not over-engineering our debt headroom

Such brainy people are in these government institutions. But they are mere employees who have to follow orders from politicians. They have no voice or else they are out of a job.

Politics of deep policy analysis is where our country must go. The issue of dumbing down manifestos to infrastructural development alone is very demeaning, especially in the 21st century.

Always a pleasure to listen to ED
I must admit, if nothing else, all Kenyans should concern themselves with understanding the government's fiscal policy. Brilliantly explained Ed! Considering I know not much about the topic. Rolling this out to as many as possibly can. Much needed education which gives good starting point to asking pertinent questions. You go guys! Quick question; is Civic Education a thing in secondary schools?
I'm just so glad that I can view this show more often
A Master Class👌

Thank you for this discussion
well funding the judiciary is an option, but that leads to another challenge. In countries like the USA, in some states the police are actually given quotas to meet on tickets they should give out to hit the budget demands since that is one of the major revenue streams, this introduces corruption firstly because the police become very aggressive so you might get charged for crimes you did not even commit. With the track record of our police should they really get more funding?
Salute for this eye Opening conversation.
Brilliant presentation on how the global financial system amd governments work.

This was a really informative session. Mr. King'ori, please keep going in this direction. Just wonderful 👍
Hapa iko shida kubwa on speaking about a country's budget and "coffers". Ya kwanza don't think of govt budgets & it's position like that of a household or private company as it's the issuer & not a user of currency. The second it's ever true! A gov't doesn't have stashes/storage of money what they work with is reserves or High-Powered Money(HPM). Dr Kingori I hope you'll call me one day to discuss this
Brilliance 🎉
Very good analysis of educating kenyans
It would be nice to include the treasury figures links in the description for follow up
Creativity knows no bounds here. Keep pushing the envelope!
Great content we are greatful
Good one.
If the government had explained our economic crisis like this, we would have understood instead of all that went through during demonstration. So whats the solution? If this dept we are paying is from the 60s kwani we are paying for being colonised, paying for freedom? 🤔
Excellent conversation.
Unless we deal with corruption no amount of good policies and money will help this country......no government official is talking about austerity before taxing the citizen
Awesome interview guys ❤🇿🇦
more of this content please thank you
Informative 😊
This was a very eye opening discussion. Ed has done a good job of breaking down this information into bite sized bits for easier understanding.
Mainstreaming economic sovereignty conversations like these is critical to get all Kenyans into a focused drive to get control of our economy back. We have what it takes to succeed globally but we must be united in tackling the issues weighing down our economy in the governance space that lead to the silly situation where we find ourselves in a very vicious cycle.
Eh eh eh. This is articulate and very sobering. This should reach MPs because l think some voted the bill without understanding it. Dr. Kingori, you are going far, sky is the start for you. Asking the right questions and your English meeen! Wow...inconsequential😮😮 😂.So that is why bank loans are so expensive 😭😭means that people especially small business or young people cannot do business successfully. They cannot borrow nor repay if they do.😮😮 Wow our kids and grand kids are suffering from what was done decades ago. Thank you sir for this. Please let's spread this information spread.

Because media is a business and very few Kenyans will sit down for ten minutes to listen to content about economic policy. They want twerking videos
The discussions are raising very distressing issues around how our national economic policies are messed up. My question is: what is the way forward?
This was a very enlightening interview. The best bit was when he mentioned that beyond the financial estimates..there's the social bit where the current generation will probably limit the no. Of children they get due to the high cost of living that will be there ...limiting the population that pays the loans thereafter and it's such an eye opener
This is very good. The sound quality was a little questionable though. Manze angalia hapo.
Wow
This kind of education is genuine 😅😅
I thot we were not supposed to nit be borrowing outside. That we are strapping up to borrow less. Kumbe ni uwongo!
The sound quality is wanting😮😮
Ignorance is like a leprosy - If you di not know what the thief is stealing, it doesn't matter whether you catch him or not, you still will never know what he stole or how to recover it!
So our problems aren't political but policy wise tuko chini.
Us borrows but mainly from its people and the the debt with japan, belgium and china is not a balance of trade but treasury bills
We have executive, legislature, and Judiciary proposing the budget then the Judiciary alone debates it. Should we have another body debate the proposal or remove them from the tabling a budget proposal?
