Agreed I saw a trucker documentary and a walmart employee said they keep about 3 days of stock. I believe now days it would happen sooner. Every time the weather forecast hints of a snow storm walmart near by runs out of bread milk and bathroom essentials

Its a hard life being a trucker but I cant imagine doing anything else than this. I love being a trucker and even though its hard and full of challenges and loneliness and sometimes heartbreak, I love this life. I never chose trucking, trucking just kinda chose me its in my blood and I couldn't quit it even if I wanted to. To all my fellow truckers out there thank you for all that you do and for the sacrifices that you make to do it. Stay safe out there and keep shiny side up.

You do NOT miss it anymore, it Freakin sucks. ELD's, 4-wheelers driving 10-15 under the speed limit, lines at the "J" and Pilot, drivers won't pull up. No radios anymore, Scales every 2 hours, goverened at 65 mph, drivers that don't speak english, and can't READ english. IN CA I watch them speed up to 65, then see the sign that says 55 for trucks and slow down...Really? They cannot read the words below the numbers that say, "trailers or 3 axles or more'. The good 'ol days are GONE!

Your Father drove in the BEST of times, I bet he loved what he did every day. He got to see the Mountains, the Prairies, and the Deserts, maybe even the Beaches of our Beautiful Nation. He got to see and drive in Snow Storms, Rain Storms, saw the Moon rise and Set, and the Sun as well. He woke up in places he had never been, and wished you were there with him. He probably made a lot of friends on the radio that he never met in person. I can guarantee you that he wanted to be with you more than anything else in the world, but he had to pay the bills and provide for you and your family. Don't worry, GOD takes care of truckers when we leave, for we have taken care of everyone else every day that we were on the road. Our food, water, and even Ice Cream only comes because of us Truckers. God bless you for being one of our Family.

The Best words ever written in Modern American Times. The Truth? it's work that many will not do. It takes 10 years to be perfect at it. But the "old days" are gone, just like the Cowboys with Horses, before the Telegraph, then the small towns before the Railroads, then the Pavement and Trucks, and then the Interstates and the D.O.T. Now we have Goverened trucks, Electronic Logs, Scales or Ports of Entry every hour or two. Folks that wont even drive their 2018 Camaro's near the speed-limit. People traveling in Pod's, on their iPhone's or Andriods. They pass Big Trucks and then slow down. Oh! and in the West, everybody can legally be stoned on Marijuana...Great! Let's just drive 20mph below the speed limit! How about the new laws that make your Brake lights come on with the Jake's...Really! Just what I needed, freakin' D.O.T. The day's of the 75 mph long-nose Pete's, the 40 Watt C.B.'s, and a language of our own are gone. Now we have Mellinials Driving Big Trucks that Freak on the slightest curve, but you can't tell if it's their "Jake" or their "brakes" because of the new laws made by Engineers in Ivory Towers that have NEVER driven a truck before. Oh, and another great job that the "Driver Mills" are teaching them...pull into a fuel island and park it...go inside, take your Federal required 30 minute break, and watch the "Real Truckers" get pissed off. 9 Fuel islands, and only 1 plugged in getting fuel...Really? Why would any idiot do this job? Because your a freakin idiot, that's why. Sorry, but I miss the old days. Give me a Horse and a Buckboard anyday, I could probably make more money at 7mph than I am making these days, and with less worry about other truckers killing me on the highway, or people driving their cars 20 mph below the speed limit. WTF? I guess the fun never ends, that's the only way to look at it anymore...time for us real truckers to retire. Sorry for the rant.

I got forced out in 2012. Had to us cpap. Told them it made me sick. My wife was driving and my granddaughter was in jump set. I was getting ready for bed. My granddaughter said I never laid down. I got up with cpap mask on and sleep walked out of semi. My wife was driving about 60 mph. That was 6/8/12. Trying to get complaint on 10/1/12 I had a Grand maul seizure after 8 hrs of cpap therapy. Now on seizure meds and can't use cpap. Lost my CDL do to seizures. Had over 2 million safe driving miles with my wife before the new rules. And I can't go with my wife because I'm a safety risk. . Wish I had video of all the people that drive that are a risk. And in CA they let bikers split traffic. The media puts wrecks off on trucks. It would be nice to see media do stories on how many wrecks were prevented by truck drivers. And I am aware some drivers cut people off. My wife had been called in on, she had other truck drivers treat her like crap, even wait staff at truck T/S. Customers try to take advantage of drivers. Like a load of strawberries I had. Costumer said they weren't going to pay full rate on the product. I got ok to take it to different store. The produce I had all of a sudden was ok and the costumer signed for it. Our children have been to most of the 48. Driving otr is not for everyone. It also dumps a lot of responsibility on your spouse. My wife would load up the kids and meet me on the road. I'd plan my extra trip time to lay over near home. So family could be with me more often.

It has been a great career, just retired after 29 years (although may change my mind with the wifes permission). Unfortunately, if the government stays out of it we can get the job done better. Although I miss it, with the government regulations I am glad to be gone. Remember the better days, when we ran the new frontier and enjoyedf it.

Yes! you are one of the few that remember the old days of the "Big Radio", we had our own language, 4mpg on a good day, and scalehouse cops that laughed at our logbooks. We did not slide in the snow, rain, or sleet, we were respectful of other drivers and flashed when we passed and dimmed when being passed, We did not speed up when a Big Truck was passing us, we slowed down out of respect. We did not run our fog lights unless it was foggy, and we pulled up after fueling. God Bless you Brother. I'm on 35 Years, a few more to go and I'm done! We have probably passed one another more than once, and been nice about it. :)

Well Glory !!! I just found this video and song and buddy it's one of the best I've ever seen and what's really always been happening in America and all the roads all across this land we all call home !! AND yes sir, I speak from experience. I'm from Premium Kentucky and moved to Detroit when I was 6 years old, after Dad had made it home from the Army in WWII in the PACIFIC theater of war. And y'all better be thankful that we won in both theaters of actions or we'd be under a totally different flag flying over us !!! BUT by the grace of God ! ,we're not !! Thank God for you and your faith, and for your music and video and your ministry to America and actually all world 🗺..! And "TO Be Continued..." Revelations chapters 21 and 22 !!! 👋😉
