Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American television series created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen for ABC based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division), a peacekeeping and spy agency in a world of superheroes. The series was the first to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it acknowledges the continuity of the franchise's films and other television series. It was produced by ABC Studios, Marvel Television, and Mutant Enemy Productions, with Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell serving as showrunners. The series stars Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, reprising his role from the film series, alongside Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge. Nick Blood, Adrianne Palicki, Henry Simmons, Luke Mitchell, John Hannah, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward joined in later seasons. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents deal with various unusual cases and enemies, including Hydra, Inhumans, Life Model Decoys, alien species such as the Kree and Chronicoms, and time travel. They could bring back Simmons, but they'd have a hard time bringing back Fitz. Iain said he's happy with how Fitz's story ended and doesn't want to mess with it (which could be taken literally or as a nice way of saying he's spent enough years playing the same character and just wants to move on), and I don't get the vibe that he's in it for the fame/money.

    I think the best way to describe the writing is, the characters drive the plot, the plot doesn't drive the characters.....most of the time anyhow. Everything especially season 3 and beyond is a direct consequence of the decisions the characters made. Ward decided to kill Price which leads to Coulson killing Ward, which leads to Hive being able to escape in Ward's body, which leads to Radcliffe being picked up by SHIELD and Lincoln's death, which leads to Radcliffe and Fitz creating LMDs to prevent another Lincoln from happening, which leads to the framework, and leads to an LMD shooting Talbot, which leads to Talbot almost destroying the Earth in order to protect it etc etc etc

    For all the love people give the Marvel Netflix shows, Agents of SHIELD actually MAINTAINED its quality over seven seasons (or at least post-Winter Soldier twist). Daredevil and Jessica Jones had stellar first seasons but none of the other shows ever matched up to that quality afterward. Maybe Daredevil season 3, but that's it.

    The Netflix shows are, now, officially canon. There were leakers who said they would begin to implement Agents of SHIELD references into the MCU but this was before they reshuffled things. Quake is still expected to appear in Armor Wars and Shang-Chi 2, though - hence, why Chloe met with Simu Liu. This isn't the first time discussions occurred years before a project. Ryan had been wanting Taylor Swift in a new Deadpool movie, since he was in her music video for 'You Need to Calm Down'.

    @@sacrificiallamb4568 Actually, the AI ban is mentioned in season four when Fitz is talking to Radcliffe about Aida. • @sacrificiallamb4568

    @sacrificiallamb4568

    4 ай бұрын

    I had written a big long explanation about all this, but let me just say that the AI ban in the context of the MCU was a good idea. Also, more importantly, I wasn't asking when the quote was said, the issue is worldbuilding and consistency, not when the quote was said. (Fitz keeps up with laws in these fields because he's a science person and needs to know; it's consistent with his character to know this, and worry about breaking it and he would, rightfully, be in a big sulk if they repealed it, more so after the Framework and definitely at any point after Ultron because he cares about people being alive. There is no reason for any lawmakers in the MCU to repeal the AI ban, however. Tony Stark wouldn't want to break the law and get arrested because then the government could seize all his money and stuff he built his life around. The consistency in internal logic is the important part.) There was no evidence of this in the movies because the writers didn't need to think about the implications of events, whereas Agents of SHIELD, the more grounded show, made to demonstrate to power of the expanded universe, did There has continued to be no evidence of the AI ban in the MCU movies for example: Loki series 2, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2, and most importantly, in movies directly after Age of Ultron. Therefore, the Occam's Razor means that it didn't happen in the MCU, and therefore Fitz couldn't exist there because the lawmakers actually made sensible decisions in his universe, and didn't in the MCU.@@randomeditor247 There, that's three points, less nuance, and over 20 thousand words shorter. Its important, because people don't understand HOW WELL WRITTEN and produced that series was. They were the background regular agents/normal people, as you say behind the supeheroes. Without their work or them, the superheroes would not have the intel or the knowledge of completing some of their projects or fighting evil. You might say they are the "janitors" behind the scenes. You have good insight inot Cinema and story and plot. I WISH YOU WERE one of the writers of Disney shows and movies, but you are not.

    It was interesting how Agents of Shield (Marvel) was airing parallel to The Flash (DC) and both had "one guy, one girl science side characters" and it was fun how they all started similarly, but ended in different places. (Fitz&Simmons for Shield and Cisco&Caitlin for Flash.)

    Even though other characters take much of the spotlight like Daisy in season 2, FitzSimmons keep the show on its toes. With all the trauma and some questionable character choices from villains, the show keeps walking and kept going until the very end. Without them the show would be less interesting since it draws the humanity of Marvel away. With Fitz and Simmons, they’re romance and decision making are what make the show entertaining to watch and give the show the good writing and humanity it needs to develop the characters.

    Yeah, even during the worst parts of the show (I hated season 5 with the heat a thousand suns), they were really the reason to keep watching the show. (especially in season 1, when -Daisy- SKYE had less personality than in the next seasons) I also liked the fact the season 6-7 were mostly about finding Fitz, despite all the space-travel and timey-wimey of those seasons. And I'm happy some people remember Marvel's T.V. shows, before they were all cancelled due to buyouts. Agent Carter was great, Inhumans wasn't even that bad (except for the first episode), Cloak and Dagger... wasn't the best show ever, but man, was it working on the emotional side! And Runaways... Existed. The OST was nice, and that was about it.

    I don't know if the issue with S1 Skye was a LACK of personality as much as how it was utilized. And I'd say FitzSimmons became a problem from S5 onwards with how they were written.

    Joss input did not serve this series well and confused many of us at the time. It was a Marvel version of Buffy with Sky as the focal point a bit too often. Give us Coulson and The Cavalry. The rest could have been anyone.

    I realized in the latter seasons that I really missed when Daisy was funny. Like, she was still occasionally funny in the later seasons but it really toned it down to make room for her being either broody or badass, and it often times felt like a completely different character. I suppose the same is true for everyone in the show though.

    It's true that every member of the team was put through the ringer, and Daisy certainly went through some difficult stuff. However, after she put the "Destroyer of Worlds" behind her, her humor seemed to return to some degree in seasons 6 and 7.

    Bro, putting up examples of praise for Fitz and Simmons and only showed Reddit posts for Fitz. Ouch. Also, feels like you could have gone back and at least put asteriks saying FZZT was Ep6 not 7 and same for The Hub (especially if you're gonna show the IMDB episode list with the correct numbers later). Anyway, in general, I think FitzSimmons were pretty solid for the first 3-4 seasons of the show but later on they became extremely frustrating. The separation plots became repetitive (tho some of that couldn't be helped due to Iain doing other things). But I really dislike how in S5 and 6 they just became utter jerks in the name of their love doing some really horrible stuff and the narrative giving them way too much of a pass (Daisy deserved so much better after Devil Complex and the show just completely shoving that under the rug was a huge F-up in my opinion). I'll take Mulder and Scully and Pam and Jim over these two any day of the week.
