There's so much more passion in this lyric than what they went with for "Love Never Dies." Kind of a shame...

This is one of the most beautiful love songs. Kiri Te Kanawa caught the soul of "love".

I like the way Kiri sings the beginning of this song in a conversational-pop sort of voice. And then at the climax blows the roof off with her magnificent opera voice. She is a true legend.

This is very pathetic piece, and it reaches the core of my being... the Dame did it so well....it is a very welcome cross over....

Some things She sings do not grab me. But this song is meant for her. The ease she goes from soft to powerful. The range seems unlimited. Zowie.

She is just incredible and the way she does this song captures what love is.

I remember watching this live. Absolutely wonderful voice and music. I am a 47 year old guy and not ashamed that whenever I hear this it makes me cry.

What makes this so sad is just days before this performance Kiri found out her husband was having an affair. If you look closely , at the end , she has tears in her eyes. It kills me every time I see it.

Fab Kiri makes an average song sound wonderful. Generic love song lyrics that that are repetitive and have no hook yet she makes it sound sensational. Love u Dame kiri.

What a fantastic song sung by a truly operatic voice- the lyrics and orchestration are just superb- it doesn`t get any better than this great performance.

just listened to 'LOVE NEVER DIES' and 'THE HEART IS SLOW TO LEARN'. They have the same melody but the lyrics of 'the heart' is much more passionate! I think I prefer Kiri's version at this stage :)

I am generally not a fan of Andew Lloyd Webber or musical theater, but this is great! Unrequited love at its finest...without the soprano dying at the end by some terrible means.

Elaine Page sings this beautifully and in her on way, but Kiri is Queen here.

Andrew changed the lyric to Love Never Dies because it fit the musical better, in love never dies the song is suppose to be the one Erik wrote for Christine and expresses his love for her. These lyrics wouldn't fit

Better than Elaine Paige's version. Different singing styles to both performers, I know!, but this is just better overall! Such warmth, such texture, such tone, such style. Superb.

Not bashing, just stating the obvious that Brightman's projection, enunciation, or lack thereof, pale in comparison to Dame Kanawa's. For God's sake, the woman (Kiri) is amongst the most beloved and respected sopranos of all time!

@RenPoet67 The actual song is exactly the same as Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Love Never Dies," the lyrics have just been changed, that's all! :) so if you just buy the sheet music for Love Never Dies, you can just sing the lyrics of The Heart Never Learns :)
