Exceptionally, I think is the word you're going for, but it is also _is_ a perfectly acceptable movie.

I just love the film!! It was one of the first horror movies I ever saw as a teenager and I was SO SCARED! I can't describe the feeling of nostalgia and subconscious uneasiness I get when I see this trailer. I recently started reading the book and it just feels soo uncanny!

I was like 11 ish when it was out to home video tho, but id always watch this alone on vhs, AND SCARE THE F**k outta myself, Im watching it rn in my mid 30s and still love it❤

If you see people say its a bad movie, theyre biased. Out of all the adaptations this one is the best. It might not be the scariest, but its totally a great mocie. 8/10 because the ending was unsatisfying. And because they didnt keep the deleted scenes.

The production and sound designs as well as Jerry Goldsmith's score is top notch. The story and characters however take a back seat unfortunately. You're better off reading the book or watch the original 60's version if a compelling narrative is what you desire.

Really great special effects.

If you're looking for a supernatural horror film that is good at building suspense and forces you to use your imagination, I'd suggest you steer clear of this film and keep to the original 1963 film. However, if you like a supernatural film with bad CGI and cartoonish looking ghosts, then you might enjoy it. That being said, the set designs and audio effects are very impressive to say the least.

Its a late 90s movie... i love it..but the cgi is 90s bad, the setting amazing, and story basic ...90s how we got you all here in this haunted place... but i find it fun,

I can't watch it seriously after Scary Movie 2, hit literally destroiyed the movie in his flaws. At least the movie has a great scenography, OST..but Spielperg put some of his out of time ideas in this project and hated it.

I mean if you wanna blame someone for how this film turned out, blame the director, Jan de Bont. Even on one of the scenes towards the end it looks like something out of one his films, known as Twister. Its a shame, because the sets and their props were very impressive and Eugenio Zanetti did an amazing job in that department, while the sound effects were very eerie and unsettling.

I’ve seen the movie and was not at all impressed. Of course I went into with some bias after having seen the 1963 version for which the quality is untouchable.

Alright i started watching the ''new'' tv series without knowing that it was related to this movie. I remember watching this when i was only but a child and i had in the back of my mind that i watched a creep ass movie back then but i didn't know which was it until today by a total coincidence. I probably won't like it if i watch it today but the creepiness of that movie was kept at the back of my head. Also, i think that the tv series is overrated and plagued by the Hollywood decease that lurks in every tv series in tv these days.

The Haunting Horror Movie

This is a very interesting Movie that can be interpreted as a violation of ethical guidelines for amateurs and any practicing physicians in any field, in search of the grandiosity of fame and recognition for one's ego. It is highly important that we have a baseline for our ethics; such as the Nuremberg Code, or we might suffer as these people have.

The trailer is way scarier than the actual movie

This movie was utter trash. It's an embarrassment to the book, and the 1963 original which remains the greatest horror film ever. At least, as far as Hollywood ones go.
