Great video!! I love Virginia City!! Two quick stories. First one is a story of coming here with my family in the early 1970's. We arrived in the afternoon. A storm followed us, from Lake Tahoe. The sage smelled wonderful. When we got to town, it was pouring! Really pouring. Those rain gutters were full and pouring out into main street, one was filling up the back of a pickup truck. Lightning and thunder was really bad too! Seeing the valley light up was spectacular, as it lit up the night sky. As a kid, it was awesome and a bit scary. I'll never forget that memory. Story 2. I went to visit Virginia City, by myself, maybe 5 years ago. After touring main street, I went to the cemetery. When I arrived, the wind started to pick up and stayed windy the whole time I was there. As I left the gates and walked to my car, the wind died down to nothing. It was a bit creepy!

Very nice. Who doesn't love Virginia City!?! I went back and watched an old Virginia City episode on the Randomland channel. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it or even if it has been a while. Kind of fun hearing the old Randomland ditty.

Well done! It's good to see that the town is starting to be preserve more and taking care of it's history. I was there in the early 60's. My best friend from high school 's father was co-owner in a silver claim under the town near a Chinese cemetery. The summer after we graduated, he took us to visit the claim to see a section the tunnel that had been excavated and re-shored. the original had collapsed from inadequate shoring back in history. Another historic story of Virginia city is the Sutro Tunnels tunnels built by Adolph Sutro to drain the mines. He he became one of the richest men in world in that period and spread his wealth in San Francisco.

A little piece of trivia for you. As you mentioned, the Comstock Load helped the Union win the Civil War, but also, Nevada is the “Battle Born” state because the United States annexed the territory during the war so it could use the silver to fund the war.

I've got to visit there someday. I've always wanted to. I can almost imagine a dirt street and wagons going through the town. I love staying in old hotels. Very comforting. I stayed in the Royal Carriage Inn in Jamestown and really enjoyed in. I love the oooooooooooooold west. Always have and it's wonderful that you are exploring again. You should visit it. They have a railway park and you can even ride the train. I wanted to but was limited on time so I couldn't. You really should visit since it's one of the gold rush towns. I want to return one day and just spend a few days there exploring.

At 5:38 in the parking lot right behind of the Bucket of Blood Saloon is where black owned saloon was located. In July 2000, they did an archeology dig there when I was visiting before the area was paved over for a parking lot. They found old artifacts like a pair of children's high button shoes, a gold coin, broken bottles, etc. I cannot remember all what they found, but it was interesting.
