    Ron Iler thanks a lot. It was one of those things that just worked out. Those buckets could hold traps and game as well so it would work for a trapline rig too

    Great job on the build! May want to cosider applying thin black boat carpeting over the entire thing. Add a few rod holders too

    shelzzy2006 thanks for the view and feedback. I considered doing the boat carpet but in the end I decided it wasn’t the right fit for this rig. The coating I put on is very durable and sheds water rather than absorbing and freezing. A few people have suggested rod holders but in the couple years I’ve used it I’ve never had a situation pop up where I wanted or needed them on it. They could always be added if need be though. Thanks again for the feed back and stay safe on the ice. Also, hit the subscribe button if you haven’t yet.

    Mike, Nice setup my man! Good job. See you mentioned fishing the bay. Noticed that it appears that you do not have studs on your track. How does the sled handle the bay ice without studs? Your help is appreciated!!!

    @@themichiganwoodsman1372 thank you. My local trails are shared use and do not allow studs. Still want to be able to ride the trails and enjoy ice fishing with the same sled. Enjoyed your video and if you have any more about your setup or tips on the bay would love to watch them

    Sweet set up I want to duplicate it. Did you extend supports out from the sled under the plywood for extra support out farther or is it just u bolted through the plywood ? Is that 1/2” plywood. Seems like if to much weight put in there the bolts would rip out of the plywood? Thanks for any reply and great job looks awesome!

  • @themichiganwoodsman1372

    @themichiganwoodsman1372

    Thanks for checking out the setup. I did not use extra support. The u-bolts come up through the bottom and there’s a small plate that serves as a washer that spans both studs of the u-bolt(Hope I’m making sense). It’s 1/2” plywood and I’ve grabbed the rack and lifted to slide the sled around in the garage without hurting anything.

    Should work if you stay on a lake, but I have to do trail time to get to the hard to reach lakes. I'm guessing I would be fighting trees and brush with the extra width. Better off pulling a sled on narrow trails.

  • @themichiganwoodsman1372

    @themichiganwoodsman1372

    You’re absolutely right. I’ve taken it on trails but not a great set-up for that. Not only the width, but the cantilevered weight makes the sled a little tippy in the trails. It’s great on the lake and alright on the way to the lake

    mike giganti works great! I was skeptical at first but Went on several trips and the charge lasted the full weekend. This is only my second season with it but seems good. I knocked it over and it acted weird that day but no problems since. I really like it. Heard a lot of good on the strike master brand as well
