OfMatthew is just the worst. She re traumatises others and even gets a Martha murder with no second thoughts or guilt at all, but the second a glimpse of it gets back to her, she cries like someone killed her child.

The actress who plays ofMatthew is amazing Greatest piece of acting Ive seen in a while

June was vindictive af right here and I can’t say I blame her! Ofmatthew threw her under the bus to which her stupid ass saw it as “saving” so now June’s gonna return that by “saving her” as well. It’s her fault Hannah has been relocated further from junes reach and for the death of that poor Martha so I can’t say I feel all that sorry for her she had this coming. And I love the look on June’s face when aunt Lydias facing her this look like she’s so disappointed in ofmatthew when really she’s loving every second of her tears.

Eu quase choro assistindo essa cena, fiquei com dó dela, ela não tava bem, o psicológico dela não tava legal e nem poderia, nenhuma das aias que vivem o que ela vive tem um psicólogo que se possa dizer legal... assim como entendo perfeitamente a June tá fria e indiferente... série maravilhosa

Eu achei justo. A June só continua ali pela filha, ela está lutando e sobrevivendo pela filha, e ver que alguém afastou essa possibilidade dela e causou a morte de inocentes que cuidavam dela? Acho que qualquer mãe faria isso ou até pior. E o fato dela ter surtado foi um acúmulo de possibilidades.

Cada uma sobrevive da maneira q pode, o único vilão ali é o sistema. Elas só sobrevivem, todo dia.

OfMatthews should understand that they're all either brainwashed or they torture and bully her because they are doing it for the sake of surviving until Gilead is over. If they're not brainwashed, they're doing it to stay alive until Gilead because sinners are either sent to the colonies to die or are hung on the wall. Or from streetlamps (if anyone remembers the episode June, Emily, and Janine stared at dead Marthas who were hanging from streetlamps).

No, they're bullying her because it's her fault that Hannah moved away and her Martha got executed. She straight up told June after the execution that she and Aunt Lydia "saved" June from temptation.

@@strangedazey546 it's my exact reaction anytime June calls someone in Gilead by their first name. "L! Y! D! I! A!!!" (cut to me on my bed going into the fetul position and whispering "oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" so Aunt Lydia doesn't hear me through my tv screen)

Eu nunca fiquei tão emocionado assistindo uma série. A atuação dela é incrível, e o sorrisinho é perfeito ❤️

O que deixa a política de Gilead ainda mais surreal é que os castigos para as aias lembram muito comportamentos do jardim de infância, como apontar o dedo e debochar

Eu entendo o lado da June, ela quer se vingar de alguém que matou uma Martha a sangue frio e manteve a filha dela (que é o motivo de June voltar pra Gilead) pra longe dela. Mas Natalie é psicologicamente controlada, fazendo tudo certo pra que ela mesma não seja machucada fisicamente. Quase uma sindrome de estocolmo.

Pois é, a gente não sabe como era a vida dela antes de Gilead. Só lembrar da Lily (Ofglen 2), que era melhor tratada pela sociedade em Gilead do que antes do regime por ser prostituta e usaria de drogas

Na série eles não fazem ultrassom pra saber o sexo do bebê. Você pode notar que nos partos as tias anunciam o sexo durante a cerimônia com as senhoras e aias.

Acho que de certa a forma a série quis mostrar que somos humanos e todos estamos sucetíveis ao erro,a June fez muitas coisas para tentar acabar com aquele sistema e muitas vezes nós esquecemos que ela também é humana e pode cometer erros. A Natalie está decidiu seguir o sistema para sobreviver não enlouquecer.Ela teve três bebês em Gilead imagina como não está o psicológico dela é compreensível que ela fazer as coisas conforme o sistema manda

I dont believe this was about June bullying Ofmatthew. I believe this was a warning to all the handmaid's to never be unloyal to one another. Ofmatthew prioritized herself over the rest and got someone killed. This was to be a warning of what the Handmaid's could do as justice against someone like that.

Acho que além da june não perder a essência da liberdade é interessante observar o porquê Deus detesta hipocrisia os sistema de lá é todo hipócrita , mas Hume ainda reza pra Deus guardar sua filha quando ela conseguiu fugir com Emily

Por mais que a Ofmatthew tenha sido uma pessoa desprezível com a June, achei maldade fazer isso com ela. Além do mais, elas todas são reféns do sistema, cada uma sobrevive da forma que pode. Não gostei muito do rumo que a série tá tomando e do rumo que estão dando pra June.

Essa ofmathew era a única aia que de durava todas as outras. Ela era a maçã podre. Tinha mesmo que se ferrar. Todos ali estão psicologicamente afetada mas essa já não ajudava só piorava. Então achei pouco

As much as, because we are seeing from June’s POV, we share her anger at Natalie, it becomes clear pretty quickly that this is a new low for her. Natalie’s fear is real and women in this situation should know better. Natalie follows the rules as closely as she can, and clings to the one thing she can do that could save her life in such a vile world, something that all women understand to be a volatile and complicated thing (being pregnant). Despite her betrayal, she has already had three children taken from her, which is more than many of the other handmaids at this point. To shun her is one thing, but to put her on display to the oppressors and degrade her with something she told June in the confidence of women that know how horrifying it is to give a girl to Gilead is twisting the knife.

I think this was not just payback but also June setting a precedent for the handmaid's to stay loyal to one another. This was punishment for her telling on June and getting the Martha killed. It told all the handmaid's that they would answer to one another if they were unloyal.

This makes no sense... I stopped watching this show after season 2 ended... Why would they stress out a pregnant handmade? As much as they claim to value children why risk a miscarriage by stressing a woman in her early pregnancy. I have too many problems with this show to say here .. but this scene is silly

The scene helps show the hypocrisy and lunacy of the way Gilead, and more specifically the handmaids system, is run. The alleged purpose is to produce children, but the show/book show the true underlying reason is the utter subjugation of women by all means possible. In this scene, we see this in the psychological trauma they put Ofmatthew through. Of course, if the child mattered, they would never put a new mother through this stress. Which means, in this system, it’s not the child which is first priority; it’s keeping the handmaids (women) under complete control through terror and abuse. I hope you do pick the show back up, if you have an interest! It’s truly fascinating, this world Margaret Atwood built

That's the point. Totalitarian societies are hypocritical and badly run. The incompetency of Gilead is displayed repeatedly, with purpose.

Don’t drop the show-this isn’t an oversight by the writers, it’s a subtle nod to the hypocrisy of Gilead (which is further shown in the remaining seasons). Children being the priority is only a facade; the people in control of the system are only after power and they hide behind lofty ideas and faith to get it. You have people like Aunt Lydia who either choose not to see the hypocrisy or are so brainwashed by their beliefs that they genuinely don’t see it. We’ve seen what many of the high-ranking Commanders do when no one’s watching: rayp & orgies at Jesebel’s, access to forbidden stuff from ‘times before’ etc. I think it’s safe to say the majority don’t even believe in the ideology and they only use it as the means to uncontested power.

I hated the ofmatthew character so much. She was so delusional and caused problems for everyone else who was just trying to survive. The actress playing her is amazing though!

It's not supposed to be. It's supposed to shame the others into submission. But... in this case it is somewhat cathartic. OfMatthew is a true believer and she snitched on people, getting them executed. Reap what you sow.

Everyone's favorite villain. She's traumatizing others already going through trauma. Yes she messed up, but June went too far

I love how this show never strays into the trap of wokeness. A dark-skinned person can get treated badly by others because it's justified, June correctly says not all men are evil despite being in Gilead, Rita doesn't demonize the domestic skills she learned in Gilead because some women genuinely enjoy those sorts of activities etc.
