In the uproarious era of the Wild West, a small town awaits the delivery of a colossal shipment: a wagon train filled with whiskey. As the news spreads, various groups with conflicting interests-ranging from temperance leagues to thirsty townsfolk and opportunistic outlaws-set their sights on the valuable cargo. The stage is set for chaos and hilarity as an eclectic mix of characters, including a determined temperance leader, a cunning sheriff, and a band of rowdy cowboys, converge on the trail, all vying to claim or protect the coveted whiskey. Amidst the uproar, the journey becomes a rollicking chase, filled with unexpected alliances, outrageous antics, and uproarious clashes that ultimately reveal the true nature of the human spirit when spirits are at stake.

Burt Lancaster had such expression in his face which did not require words to convey so much.
Oh man, I haven't seen this since maybe the '60's or '70's & I love it! Lee is cute & has that sparkle in her eyes & Burt, well, what can I say, what a man! Love watching these old actors I grew up with!
This is the funniest movie, it uses every western movie cliche there is. I remember seeing this as a kid about 50 years ago and I still love it.

Thank you for posting this movie. It's always been one of my favorites. It's very goofy and wonderful, great music! I remember seeing it in the Cooper Cinerama when I was a girl with my family. We laughed ourselves silly!

One particular element that has me watching again and again is the fact of the incredible number of FANTASTICALLY SKILLED EQUESTRIANS (horseback riders). I wistfully hope such skilled riders and organizational abilities to coordinate that chaos still exists. Yes there were and sometimes still are nasty humans who have no heart. I'm an optimistic person and having watched this movie numerous times the horses Coats shine and their muscles ripple. Carefully watching their legs and feet as they move walk, trot, canter, gallop and go flat out fluidity prevails. Watching a horse's head, eyes and especially ears definitely tells their feelings as well. Wistfully would love if someone preserved this creation in a manuscript or novel perhaps! Again GOD BLESS and thanks to all originals and to those with the graciousness to for free post!

this movie is priceless the musical score is one of the greatest and the most beautiful ever written by elmer bernstein and the look on burt lancaster is just plain priceless to behold watch this movie and you will never forget either!!!!🙂🙂🙂 🙂🙂🙂!!!!!!!!

You know, you might find the temperance leader lady a bit annoying and controlling, but she does have a valid point: alcohol is so bad for you. Especially on the liver and kidneys. My brother's father died from alcoholic poisoning of the kidneys. He was on dialysis right up until the end and still trying to drink booze, arguing and fighting with the hospice nurses every day over beer. Gone at 69. A sad waste.
