The guesthouse at 10050 Cielo Drive

Музыка

Inside the guesthouse of 10050 Cielo Drive in Los Angeles. During the recording of the Downward Spiral, Chris - the drummer for NIN - lived in the guesthouse. Included are views from the property and Chris and James reading their Rocky Horrorscope. Sorry for the shaky footage - the Hi8 tapes seem to be deteriorating 😢

Wow, this is awesome! The view from the GH is even more amazing than the view from the main house. The lawn behind the GH is much larger than I thought too. Thank you so much for posting this...

This is a crazy hidden gem. I’ve always wanted to see the inside of the house during its time as NIN’s studio in this vlog style but all we’ve ever had was the “Gave Up” music video. Thanks for all these great uploads.

Beautiful house on a beautiful piece of property. I love the yard area and the view of Los Angeles was nice also. I just wish they never tore down this original house and property to build that large mansion. They totally ruined the entire landscape of the original property when they tore everything down in June of 1994.

The music totally downplays the reality of the horror that took place there. What a fantastic video! I'd never seen footage of the interior that's not a crime scene. Thank you for sharing this 👍🏼

I thought the same thing. But even if the cameras picked up the intruders, there's nothing Garretson could've done about it because the very first thing they did was cut the phone lines. No way to call out for help. So Garretson and Parent might have gone outside to confront the killers, having no way of knowing they were killers, and would've been killed themselves. Parent of course, was killed, but in his car driving away.

Absolute travesty that the original house and guest house were torn down and that monstrosity built in its place.

In hindsight, they probably could have had Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders to come up during the TDS sessions because he lived in that house when his band was on break. He said he saw Charlie hanging out in that house with Dennis Wilson and Terry Melcher, not saying much to anyone. The crazy thing is the creator of Full House, who bought the house and property, had The Beach Boys on the show.

Yeah I'm sure he was terrified, you know those dogs he had with him in that guest house definitely heard the screaming and were probably going nuts barking like crazy. I believe he did hear what was going on but was too ashamed to say because he didn't do anything to help the others. I don't blame him though because what could he have done by that point with no gun or phone access to call 911. Those dogs probably saved his life by being in there with him.

@@Gorgaveli Totally agree. I think Garretson heard everything that night - he may have even gone out to take a peek, and seen some of the chaos going on. I think he hid out in the guest room, having no way of knowing the true horror unfolding. He probably assumed it was just a robbery. Also, Garretson absolutely had significant mental health issues. He's what we used to call in the old days, "a little slow". Not fully retarded, but definitely off. That was proven when later in life he MARRIED the lunatic who publicly claimed to be Sharon and Roman's baby. She claimed the murderers cut out the baby and sold it, and that she was that baby, who finally discovered her true identity. He gave an interview about it and it was clear, he had the intellectual capacity of a child. There's so much more to that whole story than ever gets covered, and even more that we'll never know.

No that happened in the main house. This is footage of the guest house. This is where Linda Kasabian claims Tex told her to check the guest house and kill anyone there. With Tex watching from afar, she tried to open the door but pretended it was locked. It wasn't, and Garretson was "sleeping" inside only a few feet away. Luckily Tex didn't pursue it further, which of course saved Garretson's life.
