Although I loved the movie and the pacing did work. It would've been interesting if they hadn't immediately made it obvious from the get go that there was something completely off about David. I wished it was more slowly sprinkled in. And that the movie tricks us, and made us fall in love with David, along with the family. And we discover what he really is along with Anna at the point when she eventually did make the revelation. But like I said it was still great and I still enjoyed the movie.

This film was amazing!

The twist of the movie is that David was a good guy. He protected the siblings from the beginning because he really did know their brother. He kills everyone and looks like the bad guy because everyone he kills are guilty and corrupt. The parents. The fathers boss (who was actually the arms dealer. Notice he gets whacked and the dad mentions they found his boss dead but the story he gives is false) The classmates. The mercenaries trying to stop him. David was a victim who these people experimented on and most likely caused the death of his friend, comrade and siblings older brother. A few bad apples eventually infect the whole barrel and David was just throwing out the trash.

​@@TheNin-Jedialot of people call david a psychopath and a villain, I think the best way to describe david is just like the director said, David is an anti villain, he never wanted to kill these people, it was just bad situations that caused it, plus if the sister kept her mouth shut none of this would have happened and David himself said he wanted to leave the house, but the parents and the brother luke kept forcing him to stay😂😂

It’s tragic, he wanted to stop but couldn’t. Leaves me wishing the killed him or left an opening for a sequel where the programming stopped

How we love him and arguably root for him whether he's defending Luke against bullies or even when, on the furthest, most opposite end of the spectrum, he kills both of Luke's parents in a cold, calculated murder spree. That's how you know they, Dan specifically, did such a fantastic job of amalgamating him into this wonderful antihero who's also a serial killer and yet so likeable and intriguing.

Omg, this film is awesome, and I love how there's action in this horror film. I rarely see that in films. David is one of those characters that's awesome, yet at the same time he's evil. *"I'm sorry."* His cover was blown so he has to kill people. *"I'm really sorry about this sir."* Why couldn't they have let shit alone? The way he tosses the grenades, omg, lol!! *The 80's music playing was awesome!!* But the ending is the best!! :D

Yeah it’s weird in the bar, the place where his cover would most likely be blown, like where are the security cameras, it makes no sense.

Dan Stevens plays this role so well. You can tell by his subtle expressions, the people he wants to kill, and those he's frustrated he can't stop himself from killing. But the key is how subtle he shows the frustration. He's still a machine at that point, with just a small amount of the humanity left in him creeping in. It wouldn't have worked if he had played it TOO conflicted, based on how the character was built up by the military characters in the movie.

It was his Programming, He Had very little control. David could’ve killed everyone at the Diner with his Hands, He didn’t…Instead he threw 2 grenades and left which gave the Diner people a chance of survival. Same goes for the Mom and the Kids. Hell, He doesn’t even kill the Kids even though he had the chance. He chokes out the Girl instead of snapping her neck instantly because he knew Luke was close by and could’ve stopped him, Also He LET Luke Stab him…So we can concur that David managed to beat this Programming on a ‘Technicality’ and by getting KO’d. He even took Luke’s flimsy excuse of being friends to not kill him. David Really Tried. You don’t blame Bucky for killing the Starks, Do you?

I don't think those mercenaries were all that "pro". For one, they pump a hail storm of bullets blindly into the house under the assumption that one of those bullets just might breach a wall and everything behind it and kill a highly trained, medically altered, advanced soldier who'd be just sitting duck, or at least thats what they expect. Moreover they do that despite not having the right tools for the job. Almost all of them are armed with SMGs (which, of course, use pistol rounds, here its the HK MP5 which typically shoots the 9 mm round) and not even any assault rifles (that'd atleast have an intermediate cartridge like 5.56 NATO, with far better penetration and greater chances of fatally wounding the target after going through other objects), like the one the target was armed with (an M4). They go into "spray and pray" mode despite knowing that. One guy brought an SAW, M249, and yet waited till a few of his team mates were popped and the target retreated further into the house, before busting it out. On top of that, they don't bring anything like stun grenades or flashbangs with them. Moreover, while I may be no tactical expert, all I saw from these dudes was them entering through the front, and that too a few at a time (conveniently enough for the target). I don't think they displayed a lot of strategy here. Moreover, these guys already had their weapons, automatics all, out and ready to engage, while David, a single dude, was actually carrying a basket in his hand, which he had to drop and then draw out his gun before he could aim and shoot. Still David managed to pop two of them right there before the entire team started firing (and missed). Now, as a base civillian, I don't know how quick they are supposed to be but is a trained mercenary really supposed to be that slow?

The good guys always winning in the end gets boring

SPOILERS: It's a very fun movie mostly because of Dan Stevens and Maika Monroe. Not really the scary movie it wanted to be but rather a very cool action movie that plays off what the audience knows about David vs what the charachters don't know about David. This is done very well throughout the entire movie David keeps us guessing. That moral question mark is facsinating and topped by David saying "You did the right thing" when the younger brother stabs him.

Another Rothschild movie. Well, Hollywood ever change.

Nobody in the world has a good reason to kill that many people. I think this is a bad movie.
