to be fair, this is entirely because of Ken Penders being stupid. Canonically in terms of Sega, Sonic's name has always been Sonic. It's only in the comics that Penders worked on that Sonic had a different name to start with.

Most Sonic games past 06 are bad, but Arin hates Sonic so much he'll bash pretty much any Sonic game past the Genesis era regardless of quality. Arin (along with ProJared) are a big part of the reason for the shift in public opinion toward the Sonic Adventure games, even though those games were highly regarded by both critics and fans from their release up until about 2014/2015.

They also run into them intentionally. That loop glitch for example is almost impossible to trigger on accident; it only occurs if you hold the thumbstick to the far right, and it only exists in the Gamecube port.

At the time, we all noticed the obvious gameplay glitches and issues, but it was a largely successful transition to 3D considering. It definitely got more leeway since it was Sonic's first meaty 3D outing. 3D Blast (Genesis) was just...weird and un-fun.

Anyone else notice the way Amy's eyes just derp out just before the black screen at 1:55:20? She looks cross eyed.

Whenever I have a bad night sleeping, I let this video play in the background. The sound of Arin’s blood-curdling screams is very soothing.

I saw the comic where Sonic's name was revealed. It was during a freaking court case.

Gamma’s story, despite how much people clown the game, was actually pretty emotional. It’s still one of my favorites when I played the game! The scene of the explosion and the bird flying away still sticks with me

My name is Miles Prower. I'm 12 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

I wonder if they ever figured out that Knuckles’ levels are randomized and that’s why the walkthroughs are unhelpful.

They're not randomized: the locations the shards can appear at are preset, but there are multiple options for different configurations. Which configuration you get on any turn is random, but the actual locations themselves aren't random. Speedrunners who train on this game can get the Knuckles levels down in around a minute each since they know where to look.

@@Nomercy721 That's the thing, though. It's not completely random, it's a random selection of predetermined options. It's like if you wanted to know what the top card of a deck was, and one person told you "I don't know, it's some card or other" while another told you "It's either the king of spades, the ace of hearts, or the 3 of diamonds." Even if you still don't know which specific card it is, the latter is still more helpful.

Whether it's the options or the configuration that you can't predict, if what you get is purely by luck and chance, then it's random. Ok, sure, maybe not COMPLETELY random, but only as much as knowing that when you roll a six-sided die you'll get a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

@@ThornHailsnap Exactly. Each stage has its own custom die, and the walkthrough failed to say what numbers were on each of them. That's the problem. I'm not sure what you're disputing here. It's just a simple fact that there was information the walkthrough could have given them that it didn't. How you evaluate that is up to you-you can call it a bad walkthrough, an ok one, a good one, or whatever-but you can't dispute that it was less helpful than it could have been. That's all I'm saying.

Holy shit, I cannot believe I just had the thought of: “Man, I never realized how old this playthrough is! My parents were still together when this came out!”

"I'm not a religious man...but if Hell exists, I can't imagine it's much different than this." I don't think it is. In fact, I hear it's the exact same as this, except for one thing. Moving the control stick down when Froggy gives a nibble normally is what you have to do. In Hell, they remove that entirely.

The Sonic Adventure duology is practically screaming to be remade. These were very ambitious games, but they were hampered by the limitations of the hardware and muddled by the developers' excitement at throwing in all these different gameplay styles. With a graphical upgrade and more focused design, this game could be really fun. As it is, it's a product of its time - uneven and a little glitchy, but there are times when it achieves its potential, and those parts of it hold up pretty well. Adventure crawled so Colors and Generations could walk. But I appreciate what it was trying to do, and in its best moments, that does shine through.

As someone who unironically likes adventure this series was still a fun watch for me i don't get why people get so salty Edit: Ok looking back I do get why people are upset and I can understand as to why many feel the way that they do. I share the same sentiments at many moments too, I guess I am just able to put aside that stuff though since I think these moments are still funny enough to me but I can understand why some don't see this the same way. Aslong as you stay respectful you should be able to share your own thoughts how you want

because thanks to arin a lot of sonic fans got harassed to hell for liking the game and having him admit that he constantly makes the bug happen in order to make te game look bad(like one he clips trough the loop in the first levels) does not help and before you say it arin does not get the excuse of comedy to back him up because he uses those bugs that he causes as criticism for the game and constantly makes fun out of anyone who disagrees

@@Eth3431 Of course, SEGA doesn't have much a choice, though. To attempt some sort of retaliation against a single negative fan would be publicity suicide for any company. The best they can do is embrace the culture that has grown around Arin's comments, which, although negative, are made in good fun. If anything, Sonic fans with negative opinions on Arin (or any people who criticize Sonic) might serve well to follow SEGA's example. Negativity should not be met with more negativity.

I wonder how much people during this playthrough started yelling "the emeralds are randomly placed" during the knuckles stages.

It was almost painful how hard I laughed at this whole playthrough

I like how you can slowly feel the connections being made to Starbomb's song about Sonic and Tails as they play through their stories in this game.
