He then IMMEDIATELY runs into Sonic, who 1) knows who he is, 2) was there for the events of SA2 and 3) is willing to explain it to him. Why did he decide that the key to learning who he is is 'getting those chaos emeralds' when he could have just ASKED SONIC lmao. It doesnt exactly make much sense

@@astolfofansunny4047 No the Shadow in SA2 was real, it's the one in HEROES that it's unclear whether he was an android or not. it isn't until the ending of Shadow the Hedgehog that we learn that Shadow survived the fall from the ARK and Eggman brought him back to health

Low key I fucking loved this game because it was trying SO hard to be edgy and it just came off as funny. Like sometimes when you die shadow is like "Damn, not here!" SEGA was like, "OH YEA! SHADOW SWEARS! SONIC DOESNT SWEAR! AND THE GAME HAS A 'TEEN' RATING SO YOU KNOW ITS BADASS." Honestly though I think this game is definitely a cult classic. It's like bad in a good way, kinda like the original Sharknado.

yeah I don't very much appreciate the characterization of Shadow in this game. His character worked better in SA2 and he should have stayed dead. In fact I lowkey think the best parts of 06' are of Shadow, because (for the most part) they got his character right. If 06' was meant to be a reboot, then it would have made sense THEN to bring shadow back to the series. EDIT: Im 99.999% certain this game had an E10+ rating. (Although it WAS going to have a Teen Rating.)

+antimezz11 Maybe if they had one of Eggman's droids they could have done something where you reluctantly choose to serve Eggman against your wishes or defy your creator. That way thr character would be more a of a blank slate and there would be reason for each route.

Well, they've already got literally hundreds of possibilities to choose from like Omega, Gamma, any of the Egg Pawns, the rest of the E-Series, Zero, Phi, GEMRL, Metal Sonic, the Badniks, Shade and the Metal Androids from the multiplayer in this very game, Chaos Zero from Adventure, the list is potentially endless, especially with more games coming out making new enemies every so often.

WonderGamer101 I'm a noob with gun so I assumed it was a shot gun >.> The vehicles are kinda random but it's shadow so I guess he was being a show off, he kinda does flaunt his abilities the whole game and riding a motorbike like that is well...cool looking. The aliens and humans is probably a representation of the solo route. Sonic is obvious, a load of aliens are destroying the town and nobody else is exactly going to stop them...the rest are probably backup. Not sure what you mean with the flying thing.

Goddamn, I remember when this game was first announced and there were commercials for it all the time. The sad part is, the concept itself was actually kind of neat. But in reality, this game was nothing more than a cash grab, taking advantage of the new "emo" and "scene" kids at the time. Just a stupid tactic to manipulate that sort of crowd into buying it with the promise that the creators "understand" them. If they had taken this game even remotely serious, they would have actually built up the story more, not been afraid to explore some of the darker subplots, and would have made Shadow a more relatable character. But it pussies out on all of that, so much so, that the game wasn't even good enough to get a T rating. It got a E10+. Not even the supposed "cursing" in the game is serious enough to get it a T rating.

As a kid who never played much Sonic I remember thinking this game looked really cool from what little I knew of it, especially when my friend told me about the moral choice element and the amount of endings. Now I like it for being ridiculous like a "so bad it's good" movie and it's still way better in execution than the other poorly-received Sonic games like Sonic Boom and '06 in my opinion. Also it was pretty brave of Sega to do this to their family-friendly franchise if nothing else, I can't see Nintendo pulling a Shadow.

I love that in the dark ending, he kills sonic and blows up the world with a death star equivalent. Plus this game has a true ending, which... nice.

I was half asleep. The warning woke me up and I thought my brain was trying to warn me like some sort of spider senses.

When I first saw shadow he was dark and cool and a straight up badass, but loading up a machine gun and fighting the military and alien monsters caught me COMPLETELY off guard

When i first saw the opening of shadow the hedgehog I was so shocked and laughing my ass off Now since I'm so used to this I can't help but love this game I still laugh at it, I ain't surprised tho

Shadow the hedgehog is the physical embodiment of "Edgy" and "I'm too grown up for kids games"

It was part of my childhood. I remember seeing it in Gameland and I was psyched cause I didn't know it existed.

Oh man, this series brought back some good memories of when I was younger. Playing the first 4 missions (Same ones as the Grumps), and then later going into the multiplayer just to fight my little brother or screw around on the maps and exploring them, having a good time.

Watching Arin play games is torture. He says 'I'm gonna help the doom eye in this mission', the doom eye says 'touch the jewel to release the power within' and Arin walks RIGHT past it. When the doom eye points out that he needs to go back, he stops for a second, and then goes right ahead without touching the jewel. It's like he's the most stupid he can possibly be on purpose lol

Shadow the Hedgehog IS a Mary Sue fan character that they stole from a 13 year old Sonic fan. And that Sonic fan was, of course, a young Christian Weston Chandler. The trauma of Sega stealing Shadow from him turned him into the insane, Sonichu obsessed humanoid abomination he is today.

Are there any words that sum this game up more than Danny's '"Oh fuck," as Shadow loads his gun?

I used to fucking love this game when I was 9, the story seemed so interesting to me at the time and took me a while to complete everything to get the final last ending of all the endings where you can play super shadow

I honestly loved this game when I was younger, and I still do. It's entertaining.

This is still among my Top 5 favorite Grump’s openings.

"Is this game, like, a cult classic, at least?" "NO." Dude, this is THE Cult Classic of Sonic games. I don't know you're talking about.

I have just found out that there is in fact a pump-action submachine gun that matches exactly the one Shadow used. It also only takes BLACK brand ammunition, the only ammo as dark as Shadow’s tortured soul. I have been living a lie.

Funny how Arin said a quote from AVP and both thought it was from Game of Thrones.

This is one of those games where it needs a remaster with modern technology. Like the multiple paths based on mission progression is actually a neat concept.

When I played Shadow when I was younger I enjoyed it because I really enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe

+CopyCoinChaos I've gotten into watching "Best of" Grump compilations by various people. I recently watched a "Best of Barry" compilation, and to me, it looked more like a "Best of Arin and Jon", because it was mainly Arin playing with JonTron.

God, Shadow is such fuel for mass shooters. He basically is the archetype of a mass shooter. "I'm the ultimate lifeform born to rule all".
