“I’m tired, boss. Tired of being on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. I’m tired of never having me a buddy to be with to tell me where we’s going to, coming from, or why. Mostly I’m tired of people being ugly to each other. I’m tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world…every day. There’s too much of it. It’s like pieces of glass in my head…all the time. Can you understand?…” -John Coffey (like the drink, only not spelt the same)

@@gabrielt9841 When they were casting they were looking for someone to play John; Bruce Willis called the director and told them 'he was bringing John Coffey to see them'. Both King and the director were knocked for six when he introduced them to Michael...King said it made his hair stand on end, because not only did he look exactly how he'd envisioned John but because he even sounded like him. Michael was born to play this role, bless him. The entire cast were perfect for the roles; I privately thought Sam Rockwell was too good looking to play Wild Bill; then I was amazed at how he made himself look and sound repulsive. Great acting from all of them.

I remember reading this book years ago. I remember being convinced John Coffey would be spared, because he was ultimate good. But Stephen King was presenting us with the story of Christ, updated for the 20th century. Years ago, my mum said: "What's the point of Christ coming back, we'd only crucify him again." My mum was so very right.

@@MovieAndTVThemes And in the book there are two scenes which stand out: There was a chance to save Coffey, but Edgecome and his friends were terrified of losing their jobs during the Depression. Just like in the bible, the people were offered a chance to save Jesus and chose a criminal called Barabas instead. Edgecombe's wife actually died in a car accident years ago Coffey's execution. As he cradled her in his arms, Edgecombe sensed the presence of John nearby and pleaded with him to save his wife.... But of course, he couldn't. Because Edgecombe and his colleagues....had executed him. Along with The Stand I think this is King's best book.

I quite agree with you! "Quite" because in my opinion there is some other movies at its level (but very few, like 2001: A Space Odyssey (even if it's absolutely not in my favourites, although I like it anyway), Forrest Gump, The Lion King, Moana, Treasure Planet, Fantasia (another that isn't among my favorites, although I like it anyway), Wall-E, Up, Titanic, and someone else), and for me there is a movie that even surpasses it, a movie that I consider simply the best movie in the history of Cinema, even if I find it, to say the least, criminally underrated... well, this movie is Coco! A movie that talks about practically everything, the most moving, exciting, dark, stratified, magical and real at the same time and profound I've ever seen, and it also has exceptional music and an excellent rhythm, and it's a movie for everyone! In short, it's a literally perfect movie, without even a mini flaw! Look, there's not even a single movie that I don't like at all (even the weakest, indeed, some of my favourite, even if good, technically aren't Masterpieces), and The Green Mile is one of my favourite movies ever (in all, for now, there are about forty (a hundred if we count even those who are very close to us), and it's found in the highest part, very close to the summit), and one of those very few that make me come literally goose bumps, which make me cry like very few (and I also cry for nothing), and which come to me with unprecedented strength, *BUT* when I saw Coco, I tried something I had never tried before with a movie and very few times in my life, and it immediately became my favourite movie *EVER* (and I had never had one before, despite my crazy love for Animation and Cinema)... so I believe that while The Green Mile is one of the most beautiful movies in the history of Cinema (and an Absolute Masterpiece), Coco is simply *the* most beautiful movie in the history of Cinema, and, obviously, a true Absolute Masterpiece (then of course everyone has their own ideas, but I firmly believe in it) 💖

Too many innocent people were executed for crimes they didn't commit especially if they came from a poor background or lower castes.

This is the most emotive piece of music that I know of, it caresses the mind in exactly the same way that DMT evokes dreams. People are genetically designed to have their heartstrings plucked in this way. I'm COMPLETELY addicted, listening to it HUNDREDS of times. AND... the movie is priceless. John Coffey is obviously the stand-in for Jesus Christ and Michael Clarke Duncan portrays J.C. with such nuance, outshining the entire ensemble cast, where there isn't a flawed performance anywhere to be found. It's a work of art.

This music is absolutely breathtaking...when I listen to it for too long(if thats even possible) I feel kinda that my troath is getting a bit choked up,then I am very high in my breathing, not really hyperventilating but more kinda out of breath. This music can be too much sometimes because it touches my soul so deep, and a human being is not always capable of dealing with it,so I only play it a few times in a long period of time.

This is a beautiful beautiful soundtrack. For those of you who are PC game lovers, this particular track has a certain feel of Jeremy Soule and Skyrim/Elder Scrolls to it 0 not all the time but at certain parts. Makes it even more wonderful to listen to. The guy who wrote this (Thomas Newman) I discovered has done loads of movie scores and they are really worth listening to if you think this one is good..
