i know.. the first time i saw this i actually had no idea it was an arthurian legend. i just thought that was some kind of court mage. then i put it together later and was like wow, what a cool little glimpse of that character in this world.. even if just the shortest moment, it shows his power and Arthur's reliance on him

@@tom-jf5ll @shinobu is correct. Upon reflection, I recall Merlin briefly appearing again at the end of the end of the film during Gawain's extended "what if" vision prior to him finding his courage and removing the sash.

I just loved watching this scene in the cinema. The buildup of tension when the green knight arrives and his whole unsettling presence is really nicely done. I truly recommend this movie, it is a great fantasy movie for people who are no fans of fast-paced blockbusters but who love slowly developing stories, long and meaningful shots as well as great cinematography and sound design!

One would like to hope he started to live like a knight truly would, right? I think the Green Knight being summoned by his mother was supposed to be more of a lesson, a coming of age story rather than a devious plot. So yea, I agree that he probably survived and started to live like a knight should.

T.H. White's The Once and Future King is one of my favourite books of all time and Sean Harris here really captures the elderly Arthur in the final Candle in the Wind volume.

The music in this movie was on a whole another level.

This is an amazing gift. Since I've seen it in cinema I was craving to hear this horse again!!! The best sounding hooves ever! Hope this movie earns awards for the sound and picture!

My husband and I saw this movie and were both completely blown away by it! We keep talking about the story, and have actually purchased a translation of the poem to read together. Thank you for such a wonderful work of art!

Seriously the best movie I've seen since 2019 and also one of my faves...I STRONGLY recommend this movie

It’s very good. Make sure you set aside time to fully immerse yourself in it IMO tho. It is a little slow burn and it takes awhile to set up the story. I truly loved it tho.

Dear god is the entire movie edited like this ? That was horrendous. So many beautiful shots and you get less than a second to even take in what you’re looking at.

Easily one of the best scenes from one of the best movies of the year!

One addition to detail I wish they added is a celtic symbol, for their culture were very close to nature and would show the green knight is far older then their kingdom or possible as old as the land itself.

In the original poem the Green Knight was an apparition meant to give Gawain an excuse to have an adventure and also to test his character. It was all rigged. It was NEVER meant to lead to his demise. But the director of this movie vandalized the story and this one change lead to other changes that completely ruined the story. I’m not joking, this movie is a cultural vandalism. It look pretty, but the story is trash!

As you know the ending in the movie is at least somewhat ambiguous (with most agreeing that Gawain survived the ordeal) and from what I understand of the poem, it is plain that Gawain lives and parts with the Green Knight as "a friend". So certainly that is different. I did want to ask you, what were some of the other changes in the movie that you felt ruined the story?

This movie is cultural vandalism! They use “The Green Knight” title as “clickbait” to get you to watch a story about a cowardly boy who refuses to become a man. They butchered the story so bad! 🤦‍♂️

The plot is plain af, they could tell it in 15’, but stretched it out to 130’ of screen time instead.

A story in need to be told but never worth to be listened to. Avoid this mess.
