Watched the film just yesterday on A24's special screening. The ending shocked me, perplexed me and I was so out of breath. And yes, I was so in awe of Dev Patel. He killed it. And it's great to Alicia Vikander back in form. Eagerly waiting for Lamb! Go A24

And just so you know- art is adaptable and you can take something different away from it than others may or may not. You don’t have to stick to source material when creating art based on a past work. I honestly just watched this film and I thought I was going to just be alright.. but it far surpassed my expectations it could have had a bit more horror/action to its story.. it felt like something was missing from this epic tale.. but still I feel this film is nearly a Masterpiece.! I do hope we will see a sequel or perhaps a spirtual successor to this film, I would love to see more Dark Fantasy in the Medievil time period its very rarely done and when it is done its hardly ever done correctly... usually making sacrifices to contain a pg 13 rating overall killing the story. If we are lucky to an degree they will have a follow up to this film, and not only that other producers will see this and green light some more stuff like this... cause I am quite sick of modern age films where they set myths and dark fantasy closer to our 19th-20th century... Ive always wanted films like this to be made.. and it seems this is the right one to draw inspiration from for future endeavors. I cant wait till someone adapts Gilgamesh , A24 might just be the only ones with the balls to do it. I much rather a bigger studio do it though to allow for a more bigger budget but then they might sacrifice the overall story and tone of the film in favor of a pg-13 rating to gather more viewers, so A24 would prob be best if no one else is willing to go the Hard R rating route with the Gilgamesh Epic. Still waiting for something like a Viking turned werewolf or some old ancient village haunted by the damned, like vampire{s}or werewolve{s} feeding on a village in period/medieval times. The day something like that gets made.... Ill prob buy everyone's ticket for that month to make sure it succeeds.

Here's what I think. The movie revolves around Gawain and how he's never quite ready to be a hero (knight). This in the beginning shows something terrible happening(the fire) and as a result a chivalrous man brings his woman to safety while he draws his sword prepared to fight for her and what's his. This pans to show our main character asleep in a brothel. There's a difference between the actions of the man in the beginning and our main character. While heroic men are awake and protecting what is theirs, Gawain lays asleep unbothered.
