    Just replying to say that I tried the deck out, taking out all the Archfiends for This Town Ain't Big Enough. It does, in fact, lead to blowouts if you're not playing against people with countermagic. My opponent had pretty strong token generation from two Preachers of the Schism and it didn't matter. EoT discard and sac a creature into lose 6, discard 3 and sac three creatures into then re-dropping Greed's Gambit and gaining 6, drawing 3 and making 3 dudes is basically impossible for your opponent to come back from. They either have to have countermagic or the game completely turns around, and then you get to still give back the Gambit the next turn.

    I've just plaid against Esper version of this deck, I was playing Mono U Tempo Ninjas (returning to Magic after 2 years and collecting the wildcards), they searched my hand and removed 2 Fading Hopes (sorry don't remember the name of the card, was some Orzhov spell I think), put Greed's Gambit on turn 4, wiped my board once. Yet I managed to reduce their life to 9 and I had Machine over matter in my hand. They use second option of Insatiable Avarice (pay 3 life, draw 3 cards) and when the life condition resolves I return them the Gambit. BOOM - 6. One of the best moments I ha in Magic ever xD

    How would this deck feel with a few "This town ain't big enough"'s allowing you to bounce the Gambit and the Falcon back to hand (and also triggering that dreadful "leaves the battlefield" effect). Plus its instant speed, so you can cast it on opponents end step in response to the Greed trigger for double dipping delight. But is that going too hard on the meme?

  • @quintonhoffert6526

    @quintonhoffert6526

    I'm playing it right now. It works very, very well. I actually won a game I had no business winning against planeswalker control by bouncing both my opponent's Jace and the Greed's Gambit to force him to discard the Jace before it could mill me out. I also went from a low of 3 life back up to 19 in that same game while reducing my opponent from 29 to -5 over the course of 4 very lucky turns. Getting to turn one Greed's Gambit into multiple even if I never draw the other copies is absurd, and wrathing the opponent's board ruins even token-based strategies. Mostly the deck loses hardest to early game aggression that kills you before you can drop the Greed's Gambit. Once you put it down, the positive attrition it generates usually gives you time to stabilize, but against mono-Red or other aggressive decks it can be hard to make it to turn 4 if you're on the draw.
