It's criminally underrated. So few people I've spoken to about it know about it. When they play.... LOVE IT. I'm an Oregon native. I've been to the areas the game takes place in (namely crater lake) and the map design is spot on! I believe Sony made a huge mistake on not going with a sequel. It sold very well. PC sales we're also massive. Very short sided decision by Sony.

I dunno. I keep seeing SO MANY comments about how much of a hidden gem this game is. So I finally played it on PC. And honestly, I found it super mediocre. The beginning section was interesting, but it quickly devolves in to 'go to next area, help random people, repeat'. The combat is nothing special, its the same 3rd person action shooter mechanics from every other game from the last 10 years. Hordes were fun for a while until you get an LMG and realize every horde is just you kiting them in larger and larger circles while you reload and throw things at them. And the game was literally TWICE as long as it needed to be. You spend so much time with Iron Mike it's infuriating. I actually had to force myself to complete the game, it felt like a chore after the 20ish hour mark. You dont get any new guns or mechanics or upgrades or literally anything. You do the exact same thing for the entire last half of the game. They should have cut 30-40% of the playtime and focused on quality rather than quantity. Which brings me to my main complaint which i simply can not look past. The writing is awful. Which wouldn't be so bad if such a large focus of the game is the 'story'. You spend WAY too much time listening to uninteresting characters spout terrible one liners at each other. Boomer was the only character I actually enjoyed. I literally cant remember anyone else besides him and IRON MIKE because they say his damn name so much lol. The story is so meandering and terribly paced the only forward momentum comes in the first and last sections, the entire middle is just you dicking around with traders and settlements. And Deacon was just boring. He never stops talking. He is always angry or annoyed. Its like they tried to merge Nathan Drake and Joel, but they only took the worst attributes from them and created some ultimate unlikable 'everyman'. Not to mention the fact that he JUST GOES ALONG WITH HIS WIFE BEING ALIVE at the end. Totally unphased. They dont even talk about wtf happened or unpack anything between them. 6/10 at best. At least the game ran well and looked really nice. Bend really needs to hire some better writers though.

@@OsaculnenolajO Lmao I guess it’s an opinion thing Chief, cause I just have to disagree and say I enjoyed a lot of the characters and really liked my time at Iron Mikes. But, hey, it’s okay you don’t like it. Ideally if there were ever a sequel the Devs would see your/other people’s criticisms and work to make things better in the next game. Frankly for me the game wasn’t long enough! I wanted more story, more details, more bits and bobs about the other characters life. And more emotional beats for Deacon and Sarah for sure!

@@MusicFreak0426 Yeah they definitely did not focus on Sarah enough for most of the game. You spend so much time with Deacon but you never really get to know him. If they made the Sarah plot the MAIN plot of the entire game, and not always feel like a side story, I think it would have been much more cohesive overall. As is, she just kinda shows up 3/4 of the way through SURPRISE, NOT DEAD, and now all of sudden it's Deacons job to overthrow the entire army for her or she won't leave? Like wtf Sarah? Maybe just leave? That entire Sarah plot at the end just made me hate her as a character.

Someone explain to me why this game hasn't gone viral. It's an epic game Devs really put time into this

Days Gone is a underrated gem, such a fun game, the story was surprisingly deep, Deacon was a really well defined, likable character, the gameplay, riding around on your motorcycle, the horde mechanics, one of my personal favorite open world games of the last console generation

Man I wish this game would get a sequel. It had some of the best zombie mechanics, the hordes were intense.

Some in between this (the stealth mechanics, the firearm mechanics) and dying light 1 (everything else) would be perfect. To be honest, no game has really capitalised on the zombie obsession of the 2010-2020 decade. Dying Light was the best/most immersive for me. I really didnt like this game when i bought it on release but i went back to it last year and really enjoyed it.

Underrated? The story was as generic, overplayed and telegraphed as they come, the gameplay was derivative and full of bugs and the graphics being pretty weren't enough to make up for that. Judging from comments like this, the game is highly over rated.

I absolutely love this game, in large part because the setting means so much to me. I grew up going to Central Oregon all the time to visit my grandparents and cousins. In particular, at one point I found out that Diamond Lake is one of the bases. I've gone there for years, so I was super excited to see a place so dear to me portrayed in game. I crest the mountains, and come down the road and... it's all burned to a crisp. The whole region has been destroyed. That moment felt so real to me, like coming home only to see it all destroyed from an artillery shell. Really made me relate to the characters seeing their home overrun with zombies.

I'm not a huge zombie fan per se, but I loved playing this game. I was surprised by the amount of story and character interactions the game has. Just don't run out of fuel on your motorbike riding through the forest at night when a zombie horde is chasing you.

It's frustrating that you can't even go to where her "new lab" is in the after game content and "visit" with her like you can other characters. I don't need a cutscene or anything (though Deacon gets one when he reunites with his RINGS but nothing more about the wife). Still, I enjoyed the game overall. Some people thought the main story was too long but since there's not been a positive word on a sequel, I'm glad we got as much as we got!

@@Originalchili they obviously set the story up for a sequel but one of the devs actually blamed it not coming out on people "not buying games at full price". Completely neglecting the fact that on PS4 at launch this game was basically unplayable. The entire control scheme itself was overhauled within the first month.

The game wasn’t perfect but it’s one of the few AAA open world games I cared enough for to finish. It had some great organic moments. I remember crashing in a ditch while a horde sauntered by. I had no petrol and it was intense sneaking passed them. Good times

I love this game! it brings bang the old-style of video game where you do the 'gameplay' part for the cutscenes and the cutscenes in this game are awesome! The gameplay is 8/10 and the cutscenes is 9/10 and overall a solid 9/10 game

I just finished the game - it was a real drag early on before hitting its stride story-wise and finally getting decent weapons/bike upgrades about halfway through. The excellent voice acting and story in general kept me engaged, you can tell Bend Studios put a lot of heart into this, and they deserved better considering what they managed to accomplish with such a small team. A refined Days Gone in the form of a sequel would have undoubtedly been something special. Also love games where a Platinum is realistically attainable.

As someone with Asthma, I can seriously relate to the dead man in yellow. I end up in that situation all the time

I randomly picked this game for something new to play and now have almost 200 hours into it. My 6 year old daughter loves watching it and will watch the cut scenes like a movie. Same here. It was included for free in my PS4 and after Googling it I only saw bad reviews and people hating and trash talking it, so I avoided playing it for literal years. I started playing it last week on a whim and I'm having a blast. I expected a terrible game, and instead I got a great game with a few minor issues.

This game is like a musical journey, a perfect symphony which is just masterpiece.

I think those zombies aren’t infected, they just didn’t stay hydrated, which means they weren’t Modest Pelican fans, which means they are legally allowed to be physically demolished

Been playing this for tens of hours lately. Some bugs on PC (like bandits staying hiding if you move without caring; that's the biggest and most frequent one), but amazing atmospheres, both calm and panicking. ROCKS!

Got this one at release and loved it immediately. Even called in sick on Friday and Monday so I could have a 4 day weekend to play it. Really disappointing that a sequel hasn't been announced

Days gone is crazy good i remember i passed everything the map is soo big from desert snow to military area and more and more, story time is just soo god unlocking everything on the way and living in apocalyptic world watching the stars in the night driving by zombies its just so emersive, just beautifully done, very underrated, for me its in the same rank with gta 5 forsure. Never did a game bring such a feeling, destroying huge hordes of zombies and a map bigger then you ever imagined

I played his game when it came out and now I completed it again. I am a big fan of zombie genre and days gone zombies are by far my favorite ones. Game offers a compeling story and great combat mechanics regarding zombies. It has great features and whole "biker" vibe is very unique. I really hope they make a sequel since the story just great.

The game is way too long. The horde mechanic is brilliant with high replayability, but its a major slog to get to that point. No multi-player, no co-op, or even the ability to have NPCs to help with the hordes left way too much on the table.

Awesome game! I am absolutely addicted to it. Also, I use that special skill of his constantly! it helps more than any other thing in the game to spot loot, you can even upgrade the skill to see loot from further away.

I'm so glad that peli likes this game. This is easily one of my favorite games ever as it was just so much fun and the story was awesome (after you meet ricki and start helping that camp)

After the story I made my bike a war bike with max upgrades and I've killed every single horde except one because I think its bugged

I've replayed it 4 times, It was amazing each time

Not just the best Zombie game of all time, but one of my favorite games of all time too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game and I have no doubt that a sequel will eventually be made. Maybe not by the same two men who created this game, but a studio, someone, will make a Part 2, it is just to loved for that not to happen.

This game was one of the best games I've ever played. Good story, amazing game play. The zombie hordes and strategies to kill them were intense.

Just platinumed this last month! Such a great open world game to play in 2022. Little to no bugs or frame rate drops. Plus the 60 FPS on PS5 is great:)

Modest Pelican is one of those youtubers who will never truly die or become irrelevant.

Truly one of the best games, and even post campaign gameplay there is still plot and adventures to go on. Taking down your first hoarde was a grueling wonderful challenge. 👍🏽

Days gone came out on my birthday, I was probably the only person I saw who loved the game and especially the ending. Underrated af

Wish i had done more side quests and hordes, i just rushed through the story to see what happens, i was hooked.

This game is very good and has an amazing story in my opinion. People should definitely give this game a try!
