This is from their 2015 concert at Wembley Arena in London. You have now met Troy, Nightwish's multi-instrumentalist. He starts off by play a guitar with an Ebow which vibrates the strings electronically to make the guitar sound like a Viola or Cello. He then plays the Irish Uillean or Elbow pipes. (bellows under right elbow bag under left). He also plays various Whistles and the Irish Bouzouki amongst other instruments. He also adds the 3rd harmony. The narrator and final speaker is Richard Dawkins the evolutionary biologist. The birth and evolution of Earth and man in 20 minutes.

Fireworks, sure. But this version blows it away musically, so it is the best one to react to. This is the one at Wembley in London in 2015. Floor singing and Kai on drums. This concert was my first ever introduction to Nightwish. I took over the ticket of a work colleague who couldn't go. I've been a fan ever since. This song is the story of Earth, from its first formation round the sun to the present day and the increasing likelihood of our wrecking it. Troy's bagpipe is an Irish instrument called an Uilleann pipe (elbow pipe, not blown by mouth). At the end was professor Richard Dawkins, evolutionary biologist, who wrote the book on which the whole tour was based. Troy brought it with him when he joined the band and he and Tuomas put together the structure.

"We priviledge few..." does not only refer to the babies that didn't make it alive but the possible humans from the mix of different eggs and sperms - about the chances of you being you. When we go even deeper in that message, there is their brand new song Perfume of the Timeless talking about the change you even to exist in the form you are and how much things have made it possible. "You are because of a million loves".

@@2727rogers Yes, both are great. Though the Tampere version does have clearer vocals, a synced firework, flute and Uilleann pipes which work great together. Here Troy uses an e-bow which makes his guitar sounds like a chello which is also nice. But I like the flute / uilleann pipes version more. Some hints about the lyrics "Lonely farer in the Goldilocks zone" The Goldilocks zone" it´s a region about an star where you can find water and maybe... life ."Enters LUCA". LUCA it´s the acronym for "Last Unique Common Ancertor" "Ion channels welcoming the outside world". Senses works with ion channel "Little Lucy of the Afar" it´s a reference to "Lucy", an really good and famous fossil of an Australopithecus afarensis, an ancestor of humanity Oh, and "this man" it´s Richard Dawkings, a famous british evolutionary biologist, zoologist, and author of many books, and inspiration of this song

Earth is an example of a planet within a "goldilocks zone" of our sun. Just in the right spot to support carbon-based life (as we understand it). Not a frozen planet or a burning one and Earth is not Tidal locked to the sun (it spins) if it was locked then one side would be too hot and the other too cold but still possible to have life (as we know it) pop up in the band between the two sides only.

That's 2/3 for the "big three", which are the three songs that most fans consider the greatest of Tuomas' compositions. The third one is The Poet And the Pendulum, but before going into it, you might want to do some research on the history of the band, especially the firing of their original vocalist, Tarja, and the drama that ensued. A lot of those feelings are being put into that song.

I truly enjoyed your heartfelt reaction to the greatest composition of my lifetime. The speaker at the end was Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary scientist who wrote the book this song was based upon, titled "The Greatest Show On Earth", meaning life. The thing that always goes through my mind when they bow to the audience is the line from "The Return of the King" ... "my friends, you bow to no one!" This collection of virtuoso geniuses are alone at the top of the music hierarchy, and there is nobody anywhere close. Tuomas writes to your soul and your brain, and if you aren't "puddle-eyed" at his creations, you simply do not understand them. Nicely done, Lanae. We love your heart.

Hey There Lanae's, That concert was Wembley Arena in 2015, and my wife and I were there, 8 rows from the fronts, that show show will live with us 2 forever, embedder in hearts and minds Truly it will. So you said you wanted a music video of Nightwish So go and check this from the Nightwish Y/T site (Nightwish (- Endless Forms Most Beautiful) (LYRIC VIDEO) this is one of the best music lyric videos Nightwish Have ever done, So Tuomas came up with idea of writing songs about the creation of the world, evolution, ect, from reading the books by Sir Richard Dawkins an evolutionary professor, who you sore at the end of this video speaking to the Wembley Crowed. So the first Album that was released on this theme in 2013, was called (Endles Forms Most Beautiful) That was followed by the Album (Human Nature) all about how Humans Abuse, and neglect our planet, then we had Covid Lockdown for almost 3 years, of which no one could go on tour, so during this time off, Tuomas rote the 3rd And and last Album in the Trilogy of life which is is called (YesterWyned), which is due out out September this year, And yes the old Nightwish Drummer Jukka, Who was a great Drummer, retired from band, due to major health problems, due to insomnia problems, But now he is part of the Nightwish back room Guy's, Now the New to You Drummer Kia Hato, is one of Jukker's best friends, and he brought him into Nightywish band to show them what he could do, and he is a phenomenal Drummer, and he fitted right into Nightwish, Also Kia plays with another band from Finland called (Winter Sun) and they have some Amazing videos on Y/T go check them out (we are the suns of winter and stars ) a 14 minute Master Class in Heavy Metal. Sorry for the long post.

Hey Lanae, no you're not talking to yourself. There are at least a few hundred people watching your reactions every day. And the Army is with you. You are one of the millions of Nightwish Soldiers. Those chills are officially Floorgasmes. And the whole Army has them with you. Over and over again. And Tuomas, he is the Metal Mozart. He doesn't write songs, he composes musical magic. Enjoy. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ( Land of Floor)🤘🫡

This band is incredible .... they make me grin like a maniac one minute, then bring tears to my eyes the next. Tuomas is a genius of epic proportions, and in Floor (along with the rest of the band) he has the perfect tool to manifest his vision and present something truly extraordinary. Together, they have a way of touching your soul. You MUST research and then watch The Poet & The Pendulum, live at Wembley. It is THE greatest single performance by a anyone I have ever seen. Keep the tissues handy!!. All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.

No matter how many times I watch Nightwish, tears still come. Nightwish's connections to science aren't just one-way. There are several scientific discoveries named after Nightwish and it's members. Tmesisternus floorjansenae is a beetle named after Floor, Sciophila holopaineni is an insect named for Tuomas Holopainen, the Tanidromites nightwishorum is named for the band, and the Alpenglow Rockshelter is named after a tune "Alpenglow", from the same album as this video, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". There is also part of a forest preserve in Mexico named Nightwish, after the band donated a large sum of money to preserve it.

Yes they are bagpipes, but not the Scottish variety. They are an ancient Gaelic version called Uillean Pipes (I may have misspelled). Rather than blowing into them, the Irish pipes have the bag inflated by a bellows pumped under the elbow. You can see Troy doing this with his elbow on the side closest to the drummer. The bag is on his other side.
