too fucking bad you let comp halo completely die, Halo could be greater than what Cod and smash bro combined, if 343 would of put money and time into it. you got one of the greatest names in gaming and should of been so easy to make another great halo and you did everything wrong. and inifinite will hopefully be your last chance. couldn't do it with halo 4 or 5 what makes ppl think halo inifinite will be any different is beyond me.

Its probably due to Ogre2 continue to play at the top level till his retirement vs Ogre1 retiring a good few years before Ogre2. 2009 was when Ogre1 retired Ogre2 retired once in 2013 and came out of retirement to play till 2016 before fully and finally retiring. God the impact Halo 2/ Halo 3 had on my childhood is forever burned into my memories. I miss these days more and more everyday. To be 15/16 years old again back in 2005/06. Come home from school and boot up Halo. It truly was an experience I will never forget. Everything from T Squared being on the Dr. Pepper bottles, Mtn. Dew Game Fuel when Halo 3 launched, people standing outside to get a copy, the yelling and screaming at the tv, friends all biking over to someones house just so we could all sit around and play Halo, recon armor, the MLG scene, T Squared Halo 3 tip videos, trying to hard to get a 50 in a playlist and then keep it, and finally playing MLG playlist and feeling your heart race when you ran into players who were Semi pro or Pro. I can into Str8 online and everyone on my team was in fear. Sad if you werent old enough or missed out on this amazing moment in life and something I will truly never ever forget. If I could just go back for 1 day and relive those days...thanks for the memories Halo.

h2 and h3 were the golden years of halo. as ogre1 said in his video the hype behind halo at the time was like fortnites hype a few years ago. everyone wanted to be good at halo and these guys were at the top no matter what. to do what they did, at the time where esports was very bare bones and just finding its feet.. it's incredible. h5 would have been very different competitively if they didnt throw tons of cash at it - even then viewership struggled and on top of that there were fewer total people competing at these h5 events. i think its fair to put more weight in the h2 h3 era for being the "golden era" of halo whether you like it or not. of course 343 will put more weight on their titles for this list but lets all be real here. hoping infinite can shine in the competitive scene

No arguing that at all. I’m 30 years old now, started playing in H2, got real competitive in H3 and absolutely those were golden years of Halo. The hype was unreal. Halo WAS the game at the time. No doubt the newer titles have produced some great names but none have come close to the dominance of H2 Final Boss.

So I missed out on the golden era of halo; I came back to Reach in 2011 and enjoyed it so much but there already were vibes that the halo hype train had slowed down. I'm hoping Infinite is good but agreed, I don't think there will be another era of FPS's like Halo at the time.

Ended up getting fairly good myself but far from their level. I always wanted to become general rank in Team Snipers on Halo 3 but could never get over the last Brigadier rank to get there! So close, but so far. In my opinion, Halo 3 was the pinnacle for FPS. Miss those days with all the memories in lobbies with friends and random players. I don't care how many players come close or even surpass his records. The OGRES were and are the greatest Halo players of all time. It's undeniable. Especially in Halo CE it was something to witness in person. I stood behind him and watched OGRE 2 play a FFA on derelict and he had a rough start, was 7th and 20 kills behind the leader. I thought, "wow is he really going to not advance to the next round?" He then proceeds to just stop pushing top mid and go on running riot after running riot on the bottom of the map and goes on to win the game with highest kills, assists, and least deaths. It was literally like watching magic happen. Although my career never really took off unfortunately, they inspired me to try to become pro. It wasn't the best idea for me in 2003 when there was no money in Halo esports, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. All hail the GOATS of Halo!

The thing people don’t realize is almost everyone played halo back then. That’s what makes ogre 2 such a great player. There was so much competition back then. I remember my CHURCH even had halo tournament for the youth program and had like 20 teams compete during a lock in. I seriously feel sorry for kids who never got to experience peak halo2/3.

Halo 2 MLG Days were Legendary. Going to events with your friends, staying up all night, getting back home and jumping on live after school. I remember the day I first got Xbox Live. I played a Rumblie Pit in Colossus. Got 3rd place. It was over from that point. Throughout Halo 2 I was addicted and went to as many tourney's as I could. Such fun memories I won't forget.

Man this takes me back. I remember the first time I saw his video on youtube playing CE and couldnt believe what I was watching and how he utilized everything to his advantage.. trick granandes, ricochet sniper rounds, granade jumps etc. Me, thinking I didnt know you could do that and trying it for myself in custom matches against my buddies lol. Then H2 came out and the pro circuit with MLG it was something everyone wanted to go to or even be in. I will never forget when me and my buddies matched him and Karma on Lockout and we went crazy, talk about a rush!. We were so hyped when we beat them by 4 and bragged to everyone how we beat some pro players. the good ol days.

I’ve always said Ogre 2 deserves the same or greater recognition in the esports pantheon of GOATs as Flash, Faker, s1mple, and Fatality. Just on sheer statistics and accolades alone he is nearly unmatched. He is a true pioneer. The fact that the voting for this list was even remotely close for the top spot is embarrassing. He should be a unanimous number 1. Ogre 2 is the greatest Halo player that will ever play the game and probably the greatest console player ever, full stop.

I studied his fundamentals, the process of assumption and knowing the enemies headspace after clearing the entire team. The spawns they were about to be in, the lanes they were about to take and what they were going to do after you killed one another. He was the creator of that IQ in gaming before it was a thing.
