The Greatest $1,500 ever spent: A 1951 Chevy With a Lexus LS400

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This right here might be one of the finest, most Hoonigan-esque builds we've seen in a while. A tough looking '51 Chevy with a LEXUS CHASSIS SWAP. For $1,500. Seriously, why are we not all building Lexus LS400s as shred cars right now? Big props to Jake Caldwell for thinking WAY outside the box, and building this mad creation. We've got all types of bad ideas now.

@@superrad1659 yessir. I mean, 4cam 32v V8. If people ever wonder why the 1UZ sounds so clean is because of that. Only downfall to the 1UZ is the starter, but shit, they're actually easier to work 9n than most 6cylinder engines(VQ, BMW inlines, even shit ford/Chevy motors used in their pony cars.) The Z engines from Toyota are NOTORIOUS to be bullet proof, and the cooling on those engines are ARTIC cold(exaggerating). Now, idk about holding a ton of power and all, but for longevity and reliability, Toyota has that DOWN. Even the Auto trans in the LS is good enough to take a HELL of a beating. A lot of people who drift the LS400 is usually auto.. it's amazing.

and it 260,000 miles on it. You cant compete with Japanese engineering. I have a 1990 2dr accord lx H22 with 400,000 miles on it, the car not the motor, and it still runs like a champ, and its clean af with no rust, 5% on all windows, black with black interior and black leather seats, custom leather seats and interior of course, 17in bootlegged BBS black wheels with chrome lip, and stretched tires. Ive had it since i was 17, that was in 2000, it had 120,000 miles on it when i got it and the guy i bought it from babied it too, garaged whenever he wasnt driving it. he had the timing belt replaced, all new ball joints and everything with the suspension was stiffened and lowered so it handles like a go cart. only thing i did when i bought it was dropped the H22 in because i wanted a lil more power, changed the interior from grey to black, got the seats done and blacked out the windows and put a system in it. Oh and i added the wheels and tires a few years ago, but it had other 17in wheels and tires on it when i got it and kept them on till about 6yrs ago when i got the ones i have on it now. Its not my daily anymore but i refuse to get rid of it because i love it so much. There easy and cheap to fix and maintain and i love to drive it on the back roads rippin gears.

I've been saying it, I've been saying it for years. The ls400 rocks. They have insane torque and will go forever. In fact. Go to any junkyard. The bodies of the ls400s are gone. But the drive train will usually fire right up. I stand on em.

My dad worked at a Lexus dealership during Cash for Clunkers program. The dealership took in a LS 400 on trade and decided to Cash for Clunkers it, which was a terrible call but management insisted. To comply with the program the techs had to drain the oil out, add some additive to size the engine and make sure it was no longer usable and run the engine until it seized. It didn't seize when they started it and let it run, so the techs took it behind the dealership and did burnouts with it for 15 minutes before it finally sized. It is impressive how much abuse those engines can take.
