The Great Remember, VERY Extended Version- Steve Martin Clawhammer Banjo Tune
Heres a somber, longer version of a great song. Hope you enjoy, and if you're dealing with loss, hope it brings a bit of peace or comfort.
This is a tune by Steve Martin, go check out his original version of it, its phenomenal. He's truly one of the best banjo players of our time. I'm in C tuning here.

Columbo, my favorite also. "...one more thing." 😊🙏❤️
Just now I was sitting at the porch smoking a pipe and thinking about my grandparents well lived life. This is just what I needed, God bless you girl.
No matter what life throws at ya my friend, always know you can take it before the Lord and He will comfort you.
Something is different about the banjo. Even makes a sad song more joyful. It’s not possible to be depressed when you hear banjo music
Truly excellent musical distraction from world events… keep up the good work. I hope to hear this more often! 👏☺️🪕🎶👍
I could listen to you all day...
Rolling along like a river on a hazy day, taking me along generously ❤

That's a great image. The tune appears to be repeating but as Heraclitus said, though probably in Greek, "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." I believe this would also apply to other humans.
Beautiful. This tune needs an extended cut; who can get enough? Sappy hugs will be incoming.
This an absolute masterpiece!
Lifelong music lover here. Never thought I'd shed tears to banjo music but just did.
Wonderful, a deeply contemplative tune. Thank you for playing it.
Communing with the lord ❤❤ i love that.
Phoebe, I was part of a circle of friends with your parents when your dad was doing doctoral work years ago in Berkeley. I have never met you so it’s absolutely amazing to be listening to you today. Thanks for this beautiful gift of music and love to your mom and dad from Jane and Mary ❤
Dr. Phoebe, another effective dose of blessed banjo! I am sorry to hear of the loss among your loved ones. They are blessed to have you, sweet sister. God's light shines through you and your banjo. Everyone needs a daily dose of Phoebe's banjo love! ❤
First time for me hearing this composition. Quite beautiful. I am old an amateur mando player in my spare time. But I always love and salute the banjo players of the world. I hope some of the world greats get a chance to see / hear your picking. We are living in an Americana renaissance.
Now that there is one sweet melody. Kudos to little miss. you have a valuable gift you bestow on your listners and i thank you.
Columbo would be proud. 😊

Beautiful song played very beautifully. Thank you.
The impact of this performance seems to lead me to heartfully think that I will listen to this video many times in the future. I have saved it. It is such a sweetly played, very nice melody.
A beautiful addition to our Saturday contemplation before Easter. Thank you, Phoebe
I’m glad you believe in the Lord amen. That’s probably where your talent is coming from

Now wonder the out of tune and weirdly tuned to begin with mando I grabbed randomly to play along sounded okay with it!
Sophie joined you yesterday you play well and have fun doing it others don’t have your attitude to banjo and chickens and other animals and us humans God bless. I am a 75 man in Britain learning bass guitar but maybe a banjo could be next🎶🎵🎶👍🎶🎵🎶❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The feels are real on this.

Needed this so much - thank you. More extended jam sessions please.
The Great Remember for Nancy has been one of my favourite songs for years now, and I absolutely love your rendition of it. I need this as its own track so's I can have it on the headphones while I'm working, this grooves so good.
Steve Martin and The Great Remember are my inspirations to learn the banjo. I love it.
sehr,sehr schön
Less is more but more is more too.
I keep coming back for more. Luv it.
Very nice! The audio level is really low on this vid, though.
That is such a beautiful song. Thank you Phoebe. 😊
Just beautiful…thank you. 🙏
Columbo! :-)
Columbo was a great show.
You love this tune Phoebe it makes me relax and remember❤️❤️❤️🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Very well-played. Thank you.
Very great.
I'm new to banjo songs. The one you played was a great one, and how you played was moving. You are a performer who makes a beautiful impact on the hearts and minds of others. Thank you for this video!
very nice. peter falk was a fine actor. I especially liked him in Great Race with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Natalie Wood. Nice music.

And Grandpa in "The Princess Bride".
Good to hear she's still kick'n. Gonna put this on loop while I fix breakfast. Then go work on my 1951 8n tractor.
Anazing song. And, you played it incredibly well! Loved it. Steve Martin is a master banjo musician and you honored him well with this one. I will replay this a lot. Please don’t ever stop your art. Have you ever tried the tribute song that Steve did for Diane Keaton, “Father’s Pride”? That is a beautiful banjo song too. I would love to hear you play it.
Columbo!! Awesome!
Wow kid! Very awesome!!
Beautiful mate thank you
One of my favorite songs. I've always struggled with it. Hearing this made me decide to try it again. Having a long "just banjo" track of it is actually helping a lot.
Peter Falk is watching over you my dear!
Well that was relaxing as all heck. Even the drinking birds in the background are peaceful ❤
I am sure like me, so many of these views come from repeat watching... this piece just soothes me and always finds a place in my day!
Did mum appreciate the song? I am sure she did! Hey, great laptop in the background!
Obrigado querida!! Você elevou meu ânimo nessa manhã!
Very nice Phoebe. Lot of heart in this one.
That was really awesome, congratulations! I love the ending when you played with your eyes closed, fully experiencing the music. It seems like a meditation and at the end when you finished the music you woke up and came back to reality...
Thank you for your gift, it was very nice. Sorry for the challenges, the losses, your mom is lucky. Again, thanks, it was 17 minutes and change well spent.
Loved this!
Thank you for what you do
I love this.
🙏❤
Thank you.
Quite nice and quite entertaining! Thank you Phoebe!!!
Beautiful! I enjoyed all the variations You tried out. Well done. I always tell people one cannot be sad with a banjo in one’s hands, but we know better, don’t we? Still, music always helps somehow. Processing our feelings and thoughts, through music, is a sort of super-power. Be gentle with Yourself and Your Loved Ones, and keep on frailing. ❤😢🥰❤️
I play traditional guitar. Excellent practice playing along with your videos!
I really enjoyed this version! I'm sorry to hear that there has been loss. It was very nice of you to make this for your Mom :)
Good job on a very nice tune!
My favourite banjo tune ever.
Very pretty. Thanks

I'm sorry if this sounds a little creepy, but sometimes I have a strong desire to hug you. Your positive energy is flowing so strongly that it seems to me I have no other choice but hugging. Such positivity is rarely found! Please keep doing the great work!
Very nice, bet your mum loved it.
Sublime! Have you listened to his album "The Steve Martin Brothers"? The reverse is his banjo music.
nice
A rubber chicken and a roll of duct tape? Who could ask for anything more... Maybe a banjo!
Thanks for your communion with us.
Damn cat, just what i needed. That got me chilling. Got to be the only landlord in my bat and all the other (minus one) are fuckers. Breffff, zoubi chat.
Steve Martin is just fabulous in so many ways.. this song is a great love of mine. You're playing is just as beautiful as his... As a new banjo(ist?) I'm curious as to how you learn new songs; Tab, by ear, some other way? and do you do any "Lessons" in the Claw Hammer style?
