@felicegreece OK. If one has the talent and ability to learn string fingering (which after 77 years, I do not), then perhaps this woukd seem silly to you, especially if you can play a stringed instrument. However, comma, this application would make it easier for a keyboard artist to scratch out a melody on a fiddle. I can play the Hell out of 'most any keyboard from a 7 manual organ (Think Atlantic City - I've played it) through pianos, accordions and melodicas. But something that needs bowing, blowing or stumming? Nope.

This is a great example of the kind of popular music that must’ve been circulating around in the Early Baroque; in the cafes, the salons. You know, where the Regular Folks would hang. Even though this piece obviously wasn’t written for “Bowed Nickelharpa”, it works So Well it’s easy to imagine that’s what it was originally scored for. For some reason it makes me wonder what sort of stuff JSB would come up with when he was just Fooling Around. Excellent Rendition ! 👍🏼

What a cool instrument! It seems to have the same principle as the Hurdy Gurdy, with the exception that the player is bowing the strings himself instead of turning a crank... It even sounds very similar because of the clacking and shifting of the fretting mechanism. And, I must say, beautifully played!

In Swedish, nyckelharpa means "keyboard harp", or "harp with keys". I had never heard of such instruments. Something almost otherworldly. Bravo Swedes!
Having played this wonderful piece with classical guitar I must say that this is quite amazing.
What a cool instrument! It seems to have the same principle as the Hurdy Gurdy, with the exception that the player is bowing the strings himself instead of turning a crank... It even sounds very similar because of the clacking and shifting of the fretting mechanism. And, I must say, beautifully played!
Thought this instrument was just for early dance music, but this man plays devine music on it, brought the tears to my eyes!
One of the most famous music for violin played with an unusual and beautiful instrument! 🎶🎻🎼🎹🎶🎵
IMPRESSIVE
Very beautiful. I never saw or heard the instrument before. It sounds beautiful and looks very impressive.
Very good performance on the nyckelharpa.
Bravo! Superior performans! 👍👍👍👏👏👏 Thank you wery much!!!
I have never seen a nyckelharpa being played over the elbow. Interesting technique, and beautiful sound, this is a very interesting use for such an instrument where i'd typically imagine a hurdy-gurdy being used.

No conocía este instrumento.🎉🎉
One of the most beautiful performances of this piece I've ever heard. Amazing sound, articulation and absolutely clear polyphony.
Bravissimo,maestro!!!
Believe me I truly am amazed at the performance, and the instrument itself. But I can't resist commenting that perhaps this is of what I will forever think when referring to a kludge harp!
Breathtaking!
This is the perfect nyckelharpa.

Martine

Jawdropping.
Yet another dimension to this amazing work - thank you!
J.S Bach teaching us How to Cry. Australia's Crying. Broken Hearts Everywhere.
This sounds gorgeous
Nice! Guess as it happens with the "Baroque" violin the flatter bridge of the nyckelharpa, when compared with a modern instrument, makes chords easier - Thus, transcribing this piece for it makes sense.
Gorgeous instrument Beautiful music Handsome composer (According to wife)

Genau das hatte ich auch gedacht... Man hört das Klappern schon... Da ist eine Geige oder Bratsche "smoother"... Aber wunderbar gespielt 🤩🎶🎻
Sublime!
O it's you so glad to have crossed paths with your channel again now i shall subscribe.
I wondered how to save this unusual instrument in my KZread lists. I put it under Cello, for it has that same mello sound.
I'm classically trained, but hadn't run across this instrument before. What a delight! Thank you. I'm describing to friends (non-musicians) as a "bowed piano".
I love this instrument 🎻 I loved hearing this piece played on the nykelharpa more than on the modern violin !!!🎻 Bravo
