Real, the 7th grade we have for our band is amazing at doing it. Also am I the only one who feels like the trombone soli should have had more people playing the lower octive part.

It's good to know that band geeks have fun even after they grow up. I miss being in band more than I realized when I dropped it in high school for a study hall.

The trombone part at 3:26 is the best part of the whole song!

enjoy it because we never get a fun part to be honest😂 we’re always holding a B for like 12 beats then resting for 6 measures then repeating

This brought back memories. I played the trombone at 3:26 with the band from memory and it been years! Wish I could get into another ensemble.

My Great Great Uncle William Pittenger was a Corporal and member of Andrew’s Raiders who took part in the Great Locomotive Chase in 1862.

Here's a story that no one asked for :) I remember this year's band concert and we were playing at the same concert as the 7th and 8th grade band. We prepared before going on stage and the director asked them to play the beginning of this song and the part where the train speeds up sounded so scary for some reason and my anxiety started tingling :) Also I play a clarinet

I played this in high school in the early 2000's We performed this song in pitch black with only a flash light pointed at our sheet music, the hat we put on looked kind of like a hard hat, it was to give the audience the train/tunnel look I reckon! Anyways... it was a lot of fun!!

The part at 2:42 always gave me goosebumps and i loved it so much it was one of if not my favorite part from the whole song

Played this for my honors band. I play bass clarinet and this was our final song for the concert. But during the national anthem the key to play a low G fell off so I went through the entire concert manually pressing it down.

I love the horn solo in this, and now I regret choosing to have the saxes play it with me in middle school.

The funnest instrument to play on the song is the flute OR TROMBONE SOMETHING ABOUT THE FLUTE TRAIN PART AND THE END WHERE TROMBONE GETS THEIR PART IS SO GOOD

I played this in eighth grade and had the horn solo. There was a croud of over 300 at a festival we where playing for. That was the absolute most pressure that i have and will ever experiance in my lifetime

I cried a little. Took me back To good ole 2005 in middle school Band 😢

I've been in band for 3 months and I play flute (I'm in 7th grade) and we're playing this song in class. It's complete hell for me. The first page of this song is the easiest part. Thank god that we're not playing this song for our concert. The 8th graders are playing this song instead for the concert.

I got the euphonium solo for this song and I’m really excited

I will never forget playing the solo on French Horn for my 7th and 8th grade years. We won battle of the bands at Schlitterbahn at SPI TX both times

I also remember playing this one too.... I played trombone and was like ,"We actually have the medley for once?"... When we played it for our last song of the concert, our band director had to take leave the next week because he had an injured arm 😂 he renamed the song runaway train... Needless to say, we got a standing ovation

i miss being in a concert band so fucking much this piece was so fun to play
