For a new knitter, you are FEARLESS! You make modifications on the fly and aren’t constrained by ‘knitting rules’ which is my jam! During your #StashBustSpring KAL, I have finished: Anker’s Summer Sweater, Dylan’s Beanie, Zipper Sweater Light, Good Grandpa Cardigan, and another DRK Everyday Sweater. My WIPs are: Jelly Roll Blanket, Lufthul and Reverse Rib Mitts. Whew!

Your #StashBustSpring inspired me to get some ANCIENT (over a decade!) sock yarn out of my stash. I’m on a second Ripple Cami (using the Ripple Bralette pattern). They’ll make great layering pieces in the winter because I’m always cold. Thank you for hosting this KAL and inspiring me, Nora! Love your podcast! 🌸

Girl, balls to the wall! Put all the gold on there. Lol! You’ve done such a fabulous job with your Messi Dressi. I don’t even watch soccer, so you know you’ve done well if I even care about it. 😊 can’t wait to see you in it next week. Enjoy the game, and congrats on all your hard work. You did a fantastic job 🎉

Part of #StashBustSpring involved returning to my oldest yarn in stash, some Classic Elite Premier yarn I bought in ... 2006, the yearn I learned to knit, which was reclaimed from a failed first attempt to knit a tanktop. I had been avoiding it because I don't love the baby blue color, but summer comes early in the gulf south so I dutifully dusted it off and cast on some sleep shorts. The thing is, it's great! I love the yarn. If the color doesn't grow on me by the time I've finished the legs, I'll try overdyeing, but I never would have considered seeking out tencel/viscose blend yarn these days and I've changed my mind! I'm so excited to finish this summer knit and get this one out of stash almost 18 years later! I'm so grateful this challenge gave me a push to give it a second chance.

I got 3 things made using stash and started a 4th. I made 2 baby bibs as a gift for my friend, a vest and t-shirt from 28 year old stash cotton yarn! I also made a really fun project bag using an old pair of Carhart cargo pant with a quilted front pocket. the 4th project was another bag, but I got side tracked by a Love Letter Top. #StashBustSpring

#stashbustspring. Finally, my WIP is from impressively deep stash. I got this cone of cotton yarn from a friend four years ago. She is a crocheter and didn’t have a use for it. It came to her from one of her friend’s dad’s girlfriend’s stash 😂😂😂. This girlfriend owned a knitting machine back in the 70’s and 80’s and has cones left over from then! I’m holding that cotton double with a gorgeous merino sock yarn that I purchased off a destash on eBay last summer. I am knitting a cardigan from an ancient pattern booklet that my grandma gave me maybe ten years ago. This sweater will be a gift for my Brazilian step-grandmother-in-law. It’s the stash-bustiest project EVER. Lol

The evolution of the Messi Dressi has been so fun to watch. I hope the dress gets lots of compliments at the game! For #StashBustSpring I’ve been working on a Steggie Shawl by Noriko Ho. I’m using a variety of gorgeous merino single yarns from La Bien Aimee. It’s still a WIP and now that I’m almost to the end I kind of want to redo it 😅 I like the yarn combos at the end more than how I did the yarn combos at the beginning. 🥴

#stashbustspring. The other two FO’s that I got done were a test knit that I did in two sizes. The pattern just released this past Thursday-the Homegrown Hoodie by The Bluebird Box. Since my new wool hoodie is one of the best things I’ve ever knit, I decided my kiddos needed to have a cozy hoodie for this winter too! I knit them both out of some Knit Picks Wool for the Andes worsted that I got on super clearance sale two Christmases ago. They turned out wonderfully! If any of y’all have kids in your world, the pattern is on sale through Sunday for 50% off, I believe. I can vouch for Anna’s pattern writing skills, she is one of my favourite designers

#StashBustSpring I started a Jaspe Shawl for myself, this one is going to be very special. I've crocheted forever but when I saw this hank of yarn, this is the one that inspired me to learn to knit. I've hoarded it just looking for the "right" project since it's so special to me. Recently I've decided to stop waiting, I can't really enjoy it while it's sitting in stash! This pattern gives me the great lace vibes and stockinette that will let this yarn shine....so it got cast on!

But I have recently finished a Musselburgh hat out of some Quince & Co Chickadee that I *think* I bought in New Zealand in 2019 and promptly forgot about. I'm also working on a Vest 23 by Deborah Doherty using a linen yarn I purchased in 2022 and have been hemming and hawing about since. For the dress, I do think that all three emblems would be too much but go with your heart, if you already have the patch why not? Also, you could do a little single crochet belt and weave it through the squares around the waist to help take some of the weight off those little shoulder straps if you think it’s gonna droop too much. could even have it tie on the inside to make it less visible.

Even better though is a finished project with yarn that was only in stash for 6 month but had cost my some stress and a lot of thinking to find the perfect project for it. #stashbustspring I’m so glad you gave us a YT option to participate in the KAL! I’ve been following your videos since episode 2 popped up in my recommended videos, so of course I’ve been participating in the KAL the whole time, but I’m one of those weirdos without an IG account. I was able to complete three items this spring, knitting from stash. My first was I knit a Traveler hoodie striping several different yarns. The first was some mystery cone yarn that I got for a steal on eBay last summer or the summer before. It is scratchy, but feels like a sturdy wool. I think it was probably for making wool rugs 😂. I had hand-dyed it to knit a sweater that I finished last year (the Gambier), but I had about enough to knit a half of a Traveler. So for the rest I used a bunch of Kroy FX yarns that my sweet, non-knitting husband has bought for me. I don’t knit socks so I was excited that it worked up so well in this project. I wear the hoodie everyday in the AC and it is one of my two most favorite things I’ve ever knit!

I also worked on a Mango Smoothie pullover, a baby cardigan kit I've had for many years, a Mindfulness shawl, and a doll-size Butterfly shrug. Thank you for the motivation!

Loved, as usual, your cast. Sand almost done; little stripy thing--both stash-bust and going along! I love the idea of stash-bust spring. Do it next year again!!!!! I am not there now. But I can see how that could be a part of my future knitting. I knit sporadically, often with gifted yarn--that I had to do with lots of soaking and rewinding and care. btw Love the Messi-Dress!

For #stashbustspring I managed to finish two pairs!! of stashbuster socks with multiple colors, and cast on the second cuff of the third pair, as well as two larger garments. For me, returning to sock yarn remnants was so joyful-- I've gotten to "remake" the first pair of socks I ever knit by pairing it with a contrast yarn for colorwork, and I'm just obsessed with how fun colorwork socks are. A huge win for my stash busting -- all my next sock plans involve revisiting yarn I've used before in new color combos.

Always so excited to see you! Your dress is awesome!!!! I think your finishing of knitting has rubbed off! I can’t remember the last project I finished but as of today I have finished two projects and there will be a third off the needles this weekend! That will be three finished objects in June! I will then be going through the other items on needles. I know one I will definitely be putting away until Fall because it’s too hot to work on it! I am also starting my Christmas knitting! I have some beautiful Silk/Mohair coming my way and will be making scarfs! Super easy, super relaxing pattern! #StashBustSpring . . .I just finished my Corrugated Baktus in A Verb For Keeping Warm Floating! One of the most beautiful yarns I have ever worked with! I also finished the Heartland Birch Hat with Malabrigo Rios in the Pearl colorway, also well over 5 year old stash. I had one ball left from a sweater I made a long time ago. Almost all my knitting these days is stash.

It's been so fun using my stash to be creative and finally use up yarn that's been sitting around for a couple of years. Thank you for this make-along and giveaway to inspire us all to make with what we have! I started off in March with the Rambler beret using one skein of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. I later decided to use some secondhand Peace Fleece Worsted in my stash to try my first colourwork sweater, the Ingalls by Caitlin Hunter. It's been quite a learning experience and I'm about 75% done. I'm also on my way to finishing the Libby Bag by Deni Sharpe. It's been the perfect crochet project to eat up a tonne of my Cotton Kings Cotton 8/4 cone of yarn. Altogether, I have easily gone through 2,000m of stash yarn so far! 🥳 #stashbustspring#int

Have fun at the game!!!⚽ #StashBustSpring #Int (Canada) I worked on three projects. 2 completed and 1 WIP. I knitted the Ripple Camisole by Jessie Maed Designs with hand-dyed yarns for Les Laines Biscottes (was originally purchased to be a hat), The Ranunculus by Midori Hirose with my leftover Coboo from Lion Brand and I'm still working on my Stripe Hype Sweater by Veronika Lindberg with Patons Classic Wool Worsted and Briggs & Little that I bought 2 years ago during a trip to New Brunswick. My next projects should be a Tolsta tank by Rebecca Clow and the Mandolin Cardigan by Amy Christoffers. Take care Nora and thank you for motiving me during #StashBustSpring😀🤗 (Longest comment ever🤣)

It’s fun reading everyone’s #StashBustSpring projects! How cool is it that you inspired so many people, Nora?? I finished: -a Lola Top with 15+ year old yarn -a Lento with some stash yarn (the color was disappointing, so marling helped) -a self drafted wrap cardigan with some cashmere I was afraid to use -a Room To Bloom sweater with some impulse-bought yarn that was just languishing for a few years. I also started a cute marled Tolsta Tank, but didn’t finish it yet. I also organized my stash and planned out more projects using stash yarn. I’m pretty happy about that!

Go for gold on that Messi 👗y! I feel like #stashbustsping is a way of being not just a season. With a couple of exceptions I'm trying to plan all my knits so that they have a stash yarn in them somewhere even if I have to add a little acquisition to make it happen. I knit vellichor, vestover, le bandana and brienne, have a rad plaid wip on the go with stash and hope to start a cloudberry and a vervel with stash too. And ps was so inspired by your version of the ranunculus I might give into the hype and stash bust that little ole chestnut out too😂

For the sand cardigan, you could keep all but the portion you're currently working on in a bag and just adjust the part sticking out of the top as you move along. It's much cooler that way, and the project won't be "roughed up" as much by the time it's done.
